Having been in Washington for the last few days I got to sample some of their local IPAs by various brew houses and a couple ones owned by big companies. Very delicious stuff that's making me reconsider diversifying my purchase options then next time I make a craft beer run. Really loved some of the floral and citrus inspired IPAs. I tried at a few saisons, not having much experience with them, but I enjoyed them a lot. As the weather was quite awful, I also had plenty of stouts to sample. Had a few pints before flying back and made the flight home bearable and rather fun. I didn't write all of them down, but I had a fair share of Seapine's offerings and liked them. Now to find them here.

In recent years, I have come to appreciate some of the really good citrus (and indeed, floral) IPAs - this has not been the style of beer that I had thought I liked; while I still love the Belgian triples and quads that I have long loved, it is nice to be introduced to totally new variants of beers and to find that one has come to acquire a taste for them.

Had a rather good Belgium Quad from the Lost Abbey brewery last night on tap! Came in a very pleasant 10% abv. Didn't really taste or feel the alcohol which made for a really nice and full bodied beer. Big ole thumbs up for this one!

A Belgian Quad? Oh, bliss.......they are special beers, and probably count as my very favourite beers of all.

Agreed. That's how I came to find I enjoyed sours. I didn't get a chance to try out some of the 3rd wave coffee places, though. Made do with the green mermaid swill which was better than the swill served outside the region.

I wish I could make it to the brewery for KBS Day, but I will have to wait, like most here for it to make it's way to our locations!

Ah, this day of Joy (or Days of Joy) only take place in the KBS brewery, then? Dear me.

But - what wonderful beers when they do manage to make their way to your locations. I will admit that I am quite partial to them.

Unfortunately yes, there is an actual lottery for the tickets. But you have a chance to get it on tap! I have had their breakfast stout on tap and boy it is it something special!

"I will admit that I am quite partial to them." You and me both! Bring on the good stuff!

Amen to that.

On tap? Whimper. Helpless strangled sound in throat that might resemble another whimper.

That is certainly a bucket list item to try a few of my favorite beers on tap and preferably at the location that actually makes them! Having some of my favorite beers on the west coast on tap, I know want to try a lot more them on tap, not just bottle or can!

LOL re: whimper as I had the same response followed by a few more and tears of sadness. But on the bright side, at least we get to enjoy it!

Took the day off. Sat outside in the yard and watched nature, even if it was somewhat overcast. Had a large Starr Hills stout with some chocolate digestives. I kept warm by also turning on the patio heaters.

Long-time follower of your posts, and now throwing myself into the fray.

Currently training for a marathon so no drinking. But just ordered a bottle of Pol Roger to celebrate once the 42.2 Km have been cleared.

Does anyone have any recommendations for other good champagnes?

Good luck. Recommendations depend on what you prefer. Do you like citrus and fruit profiles or do you prefer something yeasty? In other words, do you want something where you can actually pickup lemon and kiwi tones or feel as if someone shoved fistfuls of brioche down your throat? The distinction falls down to the Champagne houses and not particular vintages.
