There is one already... I think.

No, I think that was favourite recipes, but do start one: As @LizKat's thread on favourite foods and likes and dislikes shows, such threads can be very popular.

And offer suggestions for accompanying beverages; that, too, could go down well.

@Zenithal: I hadn't thought of adding lemon zest with either blue cheese sauce or carbonara sauce; what an excellent idea. I love lemon in anything and everything; the scent, the taste.

Actually, my mother used to grate lemon and orange zest into the breadcrumbs at the top of her (legendary) apple crumble along with organic brown sugar; it was delicious and gave it a "je ne sais quoi" element to that dish that I loved.

It's called "The (un)official MacRumors Recipe thread," and the last post was in February. Think the forum search is buggered. Kept trying to query something last week and it wouldn't find the threads despite it being in the list in the next tab.

Why not seek to add that to - or merge it with - "Food and Cooking"?

Because, Food and Cooking (as anyone who reads Nigel Slater knows) is not just about recipes (fascinating though they are).

I remember ... a recipe for Thai Basil Chicken.

It’s official name is My World Famous Thai Basil Chicken. Ha ha.
[doublepost=1531059833][/doublepost]

I have been thinking about starting a similar thread on Food and Cooking here at MacRumours.

If there is one I can't find it…

Mind you, I might be the only one posting!

:D

I think a new ‘cooking’, ‘recipes’, and ‘what was for dinner’ thread is a great idea. Can we make personally taken pictures mandatory...or at least strongly encouraged?

The red cups are for wine or beer later.

World famous... Something I regret not making this past spring was real orange chicken using blood oranges. That would have been interesting. Would still need a sour compound to cut through, but it'd be nice.

That doesn't look like your Minnesota home. I like the beveling on the counters. Still baking bread I see!

I can't stomach red wine during warm weather. Give me the crisp whites and roses!

Depends.

If you are eating a rare fillet of steak, or a pasta dinner (with a rich tomato sauce), or even a platter of cheeses (robust ones) with friends, a serious red will keep you company very well.

However, in general, I think you have a point; in summer, I drink far more whites than I do reds.

Besides, in summer, reds will 'open' up and breathe and come to their best much more quickly than in our cold, dark, damp, northern winters.

Nice! I noticed the Muir Wood, where is the winery? I spent considerable time in Muir Woods and on the Golden Gate Recreation Area trails and everywhere on Mount Tamalpsis. Such a beautiful area.

I was eager for warm weather, so on one of the first nice day this spring I poured a Chardonnay with frozen grapes. (I also drink plum wine this way.)

Love some white or rose if I’m outside in the heat, but I much prefer red and these will be consumed in the house at a climate controlled 72°. :D

We were running 65* the past few days. You're a little more inland than I am, but you run cooler there. Just about passed out on Friday and Saturday walking outside.

Honestly, I’m not sure. Just picked up some random bottles featured at TW. But I do agree that the area is awesome. Have hiked the park on several occasions with my family.

I’m envious. If it were only me, the house would be an ice box. However, my wife and daughter prefer something more temperate. And yes, I go outside at night to smoke a cigar. This weekend it was 98° at 9pm. Ridiculous.

112-117* here. Which was insane, and then the humid evening. It wasn't even that hot in Vegas for crying out loud. It hurt to stand outside. I could feel my skin burning despite putting on SPF 60 blocker. Supposedly the hottest temperatures in over 100 years in LAC.

Yeah it was freaking hot outside this weekend. The humidity over the past few days has been down right horrible. Coming from a location that usually doesn't feel the humidity like we have over the past few days. UGH.

I used to drink beer more, but my wife helped me to discover great wine. We like wines from Spain, Georgia and Chile.

Any particular favourites?

I lived (and worked) in Georgia for over two years, and am rather partial to some of their wines. In particular, I liked some of the wines made from the Saperavi grape (Satreprezo and Vino Terra are two wines I recommend highly).
