I find the same with older cognacs, Sceptical. I was rather skeptical, no pun intended, of their quality but found I had to let them breathe a little before consuming and to open up the flavor.

Excellent; to my mind, it is, if anything, even better than their KBS (which is an outstanding beer).
Yes, it has been some time since I had KBS, but I think I like the CBS a bit better. Although, I wouldn’t turn down either!

One night, I did a comparative tasting of both stunning stouts: KBS vs CBS, and, while I loved both, I did admit to a preference for the CBS.
Now, this is something I have not come across before: What exactly is it (when it makes an appearance in liquid form)?

It's a cognac offered by Martell. It's alright. For the money, there are better cognacs. That said, I didn't buy it so I'll enjoy every last drop. It's around 105 quid at an off license, or was last time I saw it in the isles. Probably higher now to reflect the bump in the overseas prices. There were a few pronounced scenes in one or two Bond films with the bottle and label in clear view for the cinema goers.
Agree that there are better cognacs: For that money, I'd go for a Remy Martin, but hope you enjoyed it.
Filthy day here, today, cold, dark, overcast, deeply depressing, lashing rain, fairly chucking down; have opened a bottle of Recioto della Valpolicella (a rich, robust, Italian red wine) to accompany me on my musings tonight.

We're looking at slightly warmer temperatures the next day so two bottles of cava in the refrigerator and a nice New Zealand white, which I have to buy as we have none in the cellar.

Languedoc makes some tasty wines. I certainly enjoyed my fair share last year when I was in the vicinity. Was this a red or a white?

In a hotel pub with my brother and a cousin where we shared a decent evening meal.
Well I may prefer something from côte de nuits further north in Burgundy, but I’ve had some tasty reds from there still.
Alas, Burgundy (which I love) wasn't on offer (and I wasn't buying, which is when it might have made an appearance.)
