Def not a fruit beer guy either, I'm all Imperials/DIPA/Stout/Porters etc. Sours, Fruit, and German styles are my weakness. Ayinger Celebrator is actually the only german beer I like after being into craft beer for like 10 year and even being over seas and trying beers we can't get here. Wife likes fruit beers though, I don't remember what brewery it was, but a bar we were at she got a blueberry beer and the keg had blueberries in it so on tap blueberries came out with the beer as well lol.

Wifes fam is from MI so we always hit the breweries up when up there, Founders got distribution down here the 1st day of our honeymoon last year and after drinking all day I finished with a Breakfast Stout at like 2am and don't remember much from that point till waking up lol. I love Founders Scotch Ale. We had just grabbed this in MI as well, this was insanely good!

So freaking jealous!!! If you ever happen to have another one and want to sell it, please let me know. I have been trying to get this beer for a very long time!!!!

I started to salivate just looking at the picture!!!

Really? Wow that stuff is in abundance around here. :D

It's all or nothing with founders. If you are in their distribution area, you are all set.

Not a beer I usually crack on a Thursday, but With all this talk about breakfast stout. You guys inspired to use my new glass by pouring a 2013 Kentucky breakfast stout.

Dragon's Milk? It is often in stock around here. I'd be willing to ship after the new year.

Great glass.

Got my first bottle of Spencer Trappist last night. Had to order the proper glass for this new beer. Apparently as of 3 days ago, they have said they're distributing in NC. I know the distributor they're using in Raleigh is used by my local bottle shops, so it is only a matter of time.

We're also weeks away from getting Du Claw. I think the offerings will be 3 of their beers first, like Troegs, but one of them is Sweet Baby Jesus. Think liquid peanut butter cup in your mouth.

I thought he was talking about breakfast stout. If he was talking about dragonsmilk I apologize. But I am not sorry about it leading me to drink that kbs. It was a great night cap.

Given that we are now into the Yuletide Season, and given that this is the very season when port is consumed, I have been happily making the acquaintance of two excellent ports this past week or so.

Both are ten years old, and bear the smooth, soft palate of their age.

They are:

1: Quinta do Estanho - Porto 10 Anos (which is soft, smooth, and, although it still has an element of fruit it is elegant and easy on the palate).

2: Porto Quinta da Gaivosa - 10 Anos - Ten Years Old (which is a lovely, smooth, soft, easy and elegant, subtle and balanced port.)

With Christmas Dinner, we drank a white wine, a white burgundy from Meursault from 2010. The actual wine is 'Closerie des Alisiers' 2010 Meursault (Terroir de Meursault, Appellation Meursault Controlée). Superb, with depth, flavour, richness, a touch of sweetness tempered by balancing acidity.

The reason I mention the provenance of the wine in such detail is simply to recommend it as the best dry white wine I have had in my life, bar none.

Actually, I first encountered it at a rather elegant wine tasting (the sort of wine tasting where we sit at a properly laid table, with appropriate glasses, water, white table cloth and so on) a year and a half ago and was absolutely bowled over by it, as I normally tend to prefer (rich, robust) red wines.

The local supermarket just got these in, I purchased 6 just to try out.

Re the six bought beers you have mentioned: Are they the wonderful St Bernadus Abt 12 (which is sublime, superb, and which I know I love - a superlative beer), which I see in the picture, the happy monk chortling away, or are they the other beverage which has been pictured here, namely, the Anchor Porter?

It's been a while. Here are some recent pickups.

Russian imperial stout w Coconut. From an brewery quickly gaining attention. 18th street.

This is an 18% beer made with raisins. I have not seen it bottled since 2007. So it was a nice surprise at the liquor store.

a coffee stout from a French Canadian brewery.

And finally. My favorite breweries January release came out yesterday. A barley wine.

Anchor brewing makes an Xmas Ale each year and they change the recipe up each time so it's different. Sometimes it's really good, other times kinda mehhh, haven't had any this year but if you check you may find some.

And for you folks in bells distribution area. It's hopslam time!

For something so high abv and hoppy, I find that even non craft beer fans enjoy hopslam.

My wife went to State, go Sparty. Cousin in law owns one of the largest distributors and he's gonna save me some hopslam. There's one MI bar here and they get it on tap, incredible.

It is tasty off the tap. I have had it off the cask as well. Which kind of detracted from the hoppiness of the bottle.

I am going to Detroit next week. Hoping to track down a glass of Canadian breakfast stout.

Forgot to add this from two weeks ago, one of the holy grails of the beer world and well worth the 1500+ people ahead of us for hours in line for the release (was even more as day went on). People drove from all over, met people from out of state that drove all the way in for this. Bought 8 bottles (which was max per couple), already drank 2. Aging the rest and then 1 is for a gift.

They had the Imperial version at the release which was beyond incredible but it wasn't bottled or on growler fill.

I had a college buddy come up for dark lord day last year and that was the first beer of the day for us at 6am. Great stuff. That. Double barrel huna. And some cantillons were the standouts of the day.

Well, today I cheerfully bought a few bottles of and old favourite of mine, the wonderful 'St Bernardus Abt 12'. One or two of the bottles may be greeted later this evening.

And I had also earlier bought a bottle of Italian dessert wine - called 'Palazzina', (Moscato Passito) from Piedmont.

To be honest, - and I do like good port, good sherry, and good Sauternes, this was a little…….underpowered and underwhelming. A nice sipping wine, but nothing too memorable.

The wife picked me up this.. I haven't tried it yet, but I can't wait too!!

And had this one recently..... tasty I tell yeah!
