A Perrier-Jouët, à Puligny 1er Cru from Vincent Girardin, a Meursault-Perrières with a delicious seafood platter & amazing cheese! Perfect combination (accord, in French)

In a coffee shop.
Beaufort, Comté, Morbier & chèvre 🙂
Cheese shopping today included: Three blue cheeses: A seriously stunning (and creamy, no "sting" that one often finds with this cheese) Roquefort, Bleu d'Auvergne, and Birbablu (the first two are both classic blues from France, the last, a lovely beer washed blue from Italy.)

St Nectaire, a lovely semi-soft, washed rind cheese from France, gloriously ripe, with that amazing "muffin-top" appearance.

Raclette, a gorgeous cheese normally sold far too young, with a stunning, slightly sticky, texture, and a serious (and tempting) aroma.

Raschera, a relatively mild - yet tasty - semi-hard Italian cheese, that I hadn't encountered prior to today.

Hard cheeses purchased included a stunning Gouda, but this one is a smoked Gouda, one made from goat's milk, and the always excellent Ossau-Iraty, a sheep's milk cheese from the Basque region of France. I still have some Cantal (a Cheddar style cheese, but made in France) from last week.

Today, both the Camembert and Époisses were far too young to bother with.

Wine recommendations will aways receive a warm welcome.

As you can see, this selection leans heavily towards France.

And a baguette (put aside for me) awaited me in the French bakery.

In a coffee shop.
Currently enjoying a double IPA; very welcome, and going down smoothly.

Excellent choice, you know your cheese! You should travel to France héhé
A trip to France when I was a teenager was an epiphany.

My French hosts were so warm, welcoming and enthusiastic, it was wonderful, and that was the first time in my life I encountered that aid to civilisation known as a cheeseboard.

And I acquired a taste for Chablis, also...

I almost never drink alcohol anymore. I make homemade bone broth or vegetable stock and drink that and it makes me happy. MSG is helluva drug.
