I had a good wine recently that I had picked up at Costco on sale. The Arsonist Red Blend was normally $15 and was on sale for $11. I needed a wine for some steaks that I was grilling and decided on this. It was a really good match for the steak. A little on the fruit/jammy side when first starting out. Even though I did use an aerator, it was much better after breathing with a bit more spice by the end of the glass.

Anchor Brewing announced they are drastically cutting back their distribution and eliminating their line of seasonable beers. I haven't had Anchor Steam very often since moving from San Francisco to New York, but now I'll have no option except when I go back to California to visit. It's a real shame.

For anyone interested in beer visiting San Francisco, a tour of the Anchor brewery is a must.

I live in California and have had a many Anchor Steam beers. I haven't visited the brewery, but I have had a few of their brews over the years. I hope this isn't the first step in either selling or closing down.

I have never heard of that brewery (Anchor Stream); unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have put in an appearance This Side of The Pond.

They were locally owned for many, many years, and were only recently purchased by Sapporo.

Their history is fascinating, and they are one of the few producers of a style of beer called California Common Beer, or Steam Beer.

Oh wow, I had absolutely no idea they were purchased by Sapporo. Always loved their beer.
