Mikkeller Beer Geek Breakfast Stout?
Wow.
What on earth is that - or, how does its tasting notes describe this product? Anyway, it sounds amazing.
I couldn't tell yeah, but it has a 92 on Beer Advocate. I was able to try one of their other offerings at a beer festival, their "Beer Geek Vanilla" stout. Which is higher in ABV, but was very rich and given the high ABV, very easy to drink. Now granted I only had a small pour, but it was good. They ran out of the above before I could get to it. But I liked what I tasted with the Vanilla.
The only beers from Mikkeller that I have had to date are a raspberry sour and a cherry sour, both of which were excellent.
If you make it up to SF, there's s Mikkeller draft bar downtown. Noṭ cheap, but great beer.
No, Mikkeller is not cheap; partly, this is down to using natural ingredients, which are pretty pricey.
Before Christmas, I was shown (and instructed to buy) a Mikkeller Lindemans 'Spontan' beer, on the lambic style (flavoured with basil). This beer, I was informed, is "stunning."
I would love to try it on draft! They had them in bottles only at the beer festival.
Yes, I had to check the bottle; they had one for sale, and I (after some persuasion) bought it.
Actually, I had a feeling that you would like the sound of that.
The tasting notes suggest that it would excel as an aperitif, and that the "Old Gueuze" lambic style "with a twist" is what has been invoked here.
Sounds divine. I've had a basil based liqueur before. It's a very versatile herb when it comes to alcohol. I've been on the hunt for a good rye beer.
Tonight, I had a bottle of 2015 KBS from Founder's. Sublime.

I am drinking an offering from the Buxton Brewery, a stout on steroids, their "Rain Shadow" that has been barrel aged.
Actually, um, it is.
This is a beer one has only one of (per night), although I did buy four of them today.
Another different beer will accompany me into the smaller hours....
Craving the crispness and dry depth of the grape rather than the richness of a stout wrought by the grain tonight, I have poured myself a glass of excellent Amontillado.
You should read Poe's 'The Cask of Amontillado' while you drink it.
Loved this story as a child, I'll have to dig out my anthology to revisit it!

Actually, it is.
Dry, yet with considerable depth, a lovely mouthfeel, and a balanced luscious taste. Rich, yet not overpowering. An excellent sherry.
As the day winds down, I'm pondering what, if any, beer I should have this evening. Perhaps the coconut IPA.
