Wow! It's pretty fantastic. Citrus/grapefruit hops but not overly intense, a little malty, perfect amount of honey that sweetens the finish, really smooth and creamy, doesn't seem at all like a 10% ABV brew.
Oh its the best!

My beer monger sent me an email today and they're expecting some Lichtenhainer soon. I'm not really sure what it is, but the gist is it's a sour beer.

They look great - do they taste as good as they look?
I haven't had it in quite some time now so I can't give you the specifics, but I'll pop a bottle tonight and give you some notes. Here's something I remember:

If you have an affection for robust porters, strong coffee and vanilla, you must try this. The mouth feel is insane, it's so rich. Lots of french vanilla cut out short with very strong coffee. Also hints of chocolate, caramel and some dark fruit.

You might want to take a look at some video reviews as well, so you'll see how picture-perfect it looks.

Yes, I love strong, rich, luscious, porters, and strong coffee - and yes, I do rather like vanilla, and yes, caramel. So, this sounds rather good.

They sound delicious. Enjoy.

If you want to try something a little different, try the mint version of this. I dug it, not one that I would drink a six pack of but man it was good. Also have you had their habanero IPA!? I love that beer!!!!
Sadly, Ballast Point's availability is very limited here where I live, mainly due to a national retailing monopoly on alcoholic beverages, but this might also have something to do with BP's supply problems. But I will definitely give the mint version a try if I stumble upon it sometime.

Thankfully, some superior bars and pubs serve Ballast Point beers here. I have managed to taste their Sculpin IPA and its Grapefruit, Pineapple and Habanero variations, The Commodore, as well as the Dorado DIPA. All very solid brews and a beautiful brewery overall.

I love the Sculpin IPA, a very beautiful west coast IPA and the Habanero Sculpin is no exception. The habanero is very (I mean VERY) potent in it though. ;)

You have pretty much tried a good majority of their major release beers! I have only been able to try the Habanero one on Tap at their brewery. I have seen it a few times on the store shelves but for some reason I didn't pick it up.

Another really good one is Calm before the Storm - Coconut or Slated Caramel. Very very good! If you like their stouts, look for the Sea Monster Imperial Stout, very good stout. I am trying to get my hands on the bourbon barrel version but I have been able to track it down yet, even their brewery has a tough time keeping it in stock.

Nice, they also make a coconut victory at sea, which is quite tasty as well.

I've found that the habanero is best drank with food. I had a great experience drinking few bottles with some mushroom tacos.

Yes, I have been offered habanero style beers, and - as a sipping beer at night - no, they don't really appeal, I must say.

As an accompaniment to the sort of food - or cuisine - that comes with a tradition of heat - yes, this would strike me as an excellent way to consume such beers.
