Sipping on a Tawny Porto.
Enjoy.
I do so love a good port.
What age is this one? Are you taking anything with it - such as a glorious aged blue cheese?
A couple of new scores, the top is from a new local brewery, 64oz of their ESB, pretty terrific, you can just see the etching on the growler. The bottom is from my normal beer source, it's stellar, so smooth with a *huge* hoppy finish that sticks with you for a good minute (also picked up something new from Funky Buddha, will post a pic at consumption )
Hahaha, bonus points as always (though I think that's mostly been a thing for my dedicated beer forum ...) for ID'ing the movie in the background in the lower photo
Just enjoyed an excellent red wine form Languedoc with dinner, a beautifully balanced and wonderfully smooth blend of Syrah, Mourvèdre and Grenache - called Domaine du Mas Granier.
That sounds very good. What food were you having with it?
I opened the wine around two and a half hours - maybe three - before serving; this is a hefty wine and - although it is smooth, it does need to be allowed to breathe.
Anyway, I served it with pasta, my sauce, and an organic - foraged - mixed leaves salad with a dressing of olive oil, two types of French mustard (wholegrain and sweet), aged balsamic vinegar, aged pedro ximenez sherry vinegar, sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, and a teaspoon of sugar.
A pasta sauce (completely homemade) of sautéed (diced) organic onions, organic carrots and (a head of) organic garlic; they were sautéed in a mix of olive oil and butter in my coper Le Mauviel casserole dish. Then, in a separate saucepan, I sautéed (organic) cherry tomatoes for around half an hour on a very low heat, adding sea salt, freshly ground black pepper, and a teaspoon of unrefined brown sugar.
Luganica sausage (diced) and a hunk of pancetta (diced) were also added.
Then, I added a small bottle of organic Italian passata. All of the ingredients were let bubble away, at a low heat, for around an hour or so. At that stage, I added a tin of Italian borlotti beans.
That was when I cooked the pasta in salted water with a few tablespoons of olive oil. Drained the pasta, dressed the salad, and served the lot.
I just bought several cans worth of imported San Marzanos. No, no, that's a fib. I cleaned the section out. Surprised they don't enforce a limit. I shall be going back in two days time after their next shipment to clean them out once more.
I didn't bother growing tomatoes this year. My romas were somewhat close to a San Marzano, still not as good.
Ah come on. It was at an odd time of the time. 3 PM is no drinking hour. Unless we've got people over who I'd rather drone out. Mentally, at least.Sir, I'd ask that you take your canned tomatoes elsewhere.
HH usually starts around 2pm here on the edge of continent I'll allow the tomato post
Speaking of, holy s*** my wife made some ol' school Italian gravy, I mean, wow, it was the best I've had, pork cutlets, spicy sausage (locally made), homemade (by her) meatballs, it was for our monthly themed dinner party, she also made a home made tiramisu that was _insane_. I took a pic of the latter, used some my Chemex locally sourced coffee ...
A glass of a summer beer - named "Chouffe Soleil" from the invariably excellent Achouffe brewery in Belgium.
Now that I have acquired a home in Brussels, I will have to increase my exercise program because of the great beer..lol!
What is it with people buying homes in Belgium? Seems to be a small trend these days or it's confirmation bias on my end. That makes two of us..... Holy smokes..!
