Scored some Founders reDANKulus :D (I love their product names / marketing)

It's an Imperial Red IPA, 9.5% ABV, 90 IBU, 95+ rating across the beer-verse ... photo and tasting notes later (it's a _touch_ early :D)

Both please.

When I pay a return visit to the store in question - which might not be for a further week - I shall comply with pleasure.

I have sampled and savoured quite a few of the splendid products brewed by Founder's; in general, I prefer their stouts - several of which are superlative to some of their other beers.

But, enjoy.

90 IBU's! Talk about kicking the living heck out our your taste buds! Holy smokes! Yes I have had a few beers that are that high and one that won't comment on how high they are! Please do let us know what you think!

i did. especially with a little red meat pictured in the background. :)

Glad you enjoyed it (and yes, I did spot the picture of the red meat in the background, and assumed that this as the dish served with the wine).

At that ABV, I find that I tend to prefer a good Belgian triple, or a serious stout (such as a Belgian quad).

While usually, I like what Founder's has to offer (and some of their beers - especially the outstanding KBS - are superb), and I also like robust hefty beers, that particular beer would not be counted among my favourites.

At 9.5 ABV, that isn't that high, but the IBU's will be kicking his/her taste buds in with some pretty intense hop notes and flavors!

True, but I preferred the KBS, the Backwood's Bastard, the Oatmeal Breakfast Stout, Dark Penance - and also liked several others - all from Founder's and all of which packed a pretty fair punch. Their "Blushing Monk" is a terrific beer, in the style of fruit beers.

KBS does, I would imagine it is that way due to the aging in bourbon barrels. But when it comes to IPA's/DIPA's and the like, the higher the IBU the more punch in the taste buds, don't get me wrong the ABV is going to be there, but that is different than the IBU's put out by the Hops and this one a little kick to it.

I was able to try Dog Fishhead's 120 minute which pulls in a whopping 120 IBU's and boy did it not disappoint. Of course my taste buds were destroyed for a while lol.. Along with a Greenflash Palate Wrecker, somewhere in the 140's IBU, which I can attest to, it does live up to the name!

Yesterday, I managed to visit an emporium that sells wine, and treated myself to three good bottles of good Italian wine (all by Antinori, all Chianti, including one reserve) and a bottle of Pinot Blanc from Alsace.

Need a recommendation for a crisp white with citrus notes. Budget is $45 and under. No sparkling. Must go well with a zesty tomato sauce and a cream sauce.

Went to the annual Stone Brewery "Hop-Con" comic book and pop culture event and well, 23 sample beers later! I was able to try all of their WootStout beers that you can't get in the bottle and loved everyone of them. The smore's flavor was my favorite. You could actually taste the burnt-ness of a marshmallow in the beer. It was sublime.

This sounds like a bloody great time!

Last time I was in San Diego I spent quite a few evenings at the Stone tap room....

Sounds brilliant, and it also sounds as though you enjoyed yourself hugely.

I have spent many a days and some nights at all three of their tap rooms in San Diego/Escondido. For some reason I love their beer and the brewery itself.

During Comic Con, we went to a few other locations and was able to try a few more beers from Ale Smith, Ballast Point, Latitude 33, and a few others which i can't remember but I have them logged. Was also able to dabble in some wines, which I usually don't do. But the wife was ready for something a little different after all the beer we had been tasting and drinking. I couldn't tell you who made what, but one was a Pinot Grigio which was actually really really good. I wish I would have gotten the name of it.
