Exactly; I know this and it's what I'm trying to tell you. I WANT the cards to be slide by slide but still keep the new animations. That's what I want.
I see, I must have misread/misunderstood that part originally. Yeah, one you get with reduce motion on, the other you get with reduce motion off--basically you have to decide which one of those things you want more (or perhaps which one bothers you more to avoid it).

Ability to delete emails from the notification centre.

Why do I need a notification centre if I can only acknowledge having received a notification by clicking 'clear'.

Waste of time.
You can 3D Touch the notification to delete the Mail :)

Performance enhancements. Particularly speaking for the iPad mini 2. Many things improved with iOS 10 actually. Rotating the keyboard, power down screen, and creating new safari tabs from the tab view is now butter smooth and that's always been choppy since iOS 8. But yeah there's still room to improve. The app switcher still stutters, unlocking with many notifications on the screen stutters, often swiping over to the widget view in Notification Center stutters (mostly in landscape) siri animation isn't that smooth, tapping the search bar on widget screen is choppy... but that's the nit picky stuff. The worst has got to be quick reply. That's truly terrible on my iPad mini 2. It's encountered a lot and it's just really bad and slow. So yeah.

Anyway, in any of the iOS 10.x updates I'd love to see:

- Performance improvements!!!
- Refined design elements (iPad lock screen/ugly lock screen media controls)
- control center tweaks (customizable?? Moved volume slider to first page???)
- dark mode (ambient light sensor relatedness like iBooks?)
- bug fixes, there's definitely some quirkiness still, especially related to messages rich notifications.

It's already there. Turn on Reduce Motion.

He is referring to the wasted space on the iMessage compose window caused by the icons for scribbling, rude GIF's, balloons, and other juvenile stuff. For anyone over the age of 25 it's a distraction that eats up valuable real estate.

Not really anyone, but some people certainly don't use that kind of stuff or don't care about it.

And it's cool that it's there, my 12 year old daughter loves it, scribbles and balloons appeal to her.

But for those that will never use it, it's really in the way of the simple/clean iMessage we are used to.

I basically end up just ignoring it. The buttons are essentially out of the way at the bottom when the keyboard isn't up, and when the keyboard is up they combine and are behind a single arrow button on the left, which doesn't take up more space than what was there in iOS 9 and earlier.

Small top bar in message app. God that bar with name is so big and waste of space especially on smaller screens. It looks okay on my sister's 6S but it's just pathetic on my SE.

And why on earth would apply clutter the notification in these bubble like **** and remove sort by app.

Not really happy That I updated .

Bring back:

  • Ability to love songs from the lock screen and Control Center
  • Ability to swipe to delete emails in Notification Center
Especially, when apple is so obsessed with Apple Music, but user needs to do extra steps to love a song. iOS 9 one is better.

Yes, it is. If you want to troll, then that's fine, but it most definitely is.

The one prevailing reason that's been mentioned is the prevention of unwarranted unlocks, which is absolutely acceptable. The fact that there exists an option that has nearly a 100% success rate in the prevention of those unwarranted unlocks, and yet all of you are against it for reasons that haven't yet been made clear is just lunacy.

Option A: Move your finger across a portion of the screen to unlock said device, no preventative measures in place.

Option B: Rest your finger on a well established, physical button that not only unlocks the device in the exact same way, but also prevents said device from unlocking if it's an unidentified finger/thumb print.

You are literally achieving the same goal of unlocking your device with a more secure, faster, efficient method.
Looks like you think pressing physical button is harder than swiping half of the screen, when unlocking the device.
However, I believe swiping half of the screen to unlock is better to prevent accidental unlock, whilst pressing home button is easier in many cases.
Oh, I just realise we can use knuckle to slide to unlock, whilst we cannot use knuckle to unlock device use Touch ID. More secure? Perhaps.

A working alarm clock.

One that just stops after you did calculate 2+12 etc. .

The stock alarm is only useful when you are already awake.

Well a few things in Apple music I don't like but thats covered in the big thread.

I would like the big white boxes in the notification centre changed to something else. really don't like that, it all looks blocky.

We should make a wishlist of changes you would like to see in the next major update iOS 10.1

I'll start with these

-dark mode
-battery drain fixes
-more performance improvements
-apps on ipad UI changes.. some look like they are just blown up iphone versions
-new wallpapers
-apple music UI changes

Perhaps you should make the 1st post a Wiki so people can add to the list?

You've already listed Dark Mode.

Also I'd like to see smaller, dark Notifications sorted and controllable by App like they used to be.

Ability to change the notifications to bolder names, titles, and bigger app icons for push - or option to set it back to black. With my bad eyes, it's really 40% harder to use.

If you are upset with reduce motion being tied to the iMessage effects, listen to John Siracusa's epic rant on the latest ATP when it comes out. It's hilarious.

All I really want (aside from Dark Mode, but that ain't coming in a 10.1 release) are control center improvements. If they add customizability they'all do it in version 11. In the meantime, a simple tweak of defaulting to the Music card if there is audio playing would help a lot.

And not that I use it, but the iMessage store needs a UI overhaul. Add a ton of sticker packs and the UI literally breaks with dots. Guess Apple wasn't planning on people actually using it.

Other things that I want in iOS 10.1,

profiles - not just edu, but I want a work vs home, or personal vs guest, for obvious reasons.

Siri - to go away faster when I stop talking to it, so it goes back to where I was, and shuts the phone again. So it isn't active in a pocket somewhere and things get touched that shouldn't be.

Control Center + 3D touch - someone made a concept video of updates to control center, it was 'perfect' as far as I am concerned, iOS 10 is .. the opposite, it's bulky, for people with fat fingers, and just controlling volume requires swiping and not misclicking. What a joke. I really don't like it. Clicking wifi should let me set vpn, or turn on/off mobile data, or the wifi, or select a network. Enough logical things that could be there based on it being on or off, or both.

Audio channel independance - just having the option to turn down a game while on facetime, or while in a skype call, that i can turn the music up a bit - there's enough times where we just hang out on skype and can clearly hear each other, but i have to turn everything to LOUD, just to hear some music.

OS wide Touch ID auth - some way for any app to just toggle on/off usage for touch id. At least all the official apps, giving someone the phone and having to "trust" them by keeping a distrusting eye on them that they dont go through photos or email apps etc. .. sigh. So glad 1pass and dropbox at least have it.

Quicker Rainbow versioning of the OS that are little maintenance updates - no need to bulk up on an 10.1 to 10.2 upgrade when without a restart there are official app updates that could go through a little faster. If under certain conditions like background app refresh and what not that certain stuff just gets pushed through.

dark mode, PERIOD .. sigh.. common already.

Default third party support in contacts, and preferred apps support - so I can set "my mom is always a phone, niece always facetime. And msgs for everybody is imsg, except that guy, he's kik or whats' app .. Why do I have to keep opening this browser through that app, just to .. sigh, just a headache thinking about it now. This has to be smoother.

Mail app, inbox, swipe to trash, which is available everywhere but the main inbox where i manage the mail (http://mrfloris.com/files/images/mrfloris-mailDelete.png)

Control center + launcer app integration, a single or double spot, or maybe a row .. where third party app could idle.. such as launcher, or an app you frequent. Like a personal action hotspot that i can set.

Voicemail 3.0 - can we get voicemail yet that works on all our devices? if apple already controls this stuff, and we transcribe it etc, for accessibility reasons etc, or within an organisation, could we get the text or the audio aviaalble on other devices, and if facebook msgs, or skype, whatsapp, etc, all have option to leave a msg for the user, can we merge that as an third party app voicemail in the list? the same as it is now, just with an icon in front of it?

Camera app - change the resolution within the app COMMON .. missing a moment because the 240fps didn't catch the slow mow due to low light and you wanted to switch to the other settings, etc.

The imsg camera should be a spread or double tap just to make the mini F* USELESS camera window go fullscreen. Right now in ios10 you have to touch the arrow and then select it, .. why four steps to get a pic real quick, it's less tabs to switch to the app in memory ..

Flexible or dynamic home screen - can we already have a bit of that android experience, where we can SEE the weather and SEE the clock? Why do i have to swipe to the notification center thingy that i never use becaue its cluttered? 4 icons could be the clock on the homepage. Even if it's limited to just a few apps, it would be an amazing first step towards a personalized homescreen and for ppl like me with bad eyes, so much easier to use.

Apple Pay - .. everywhere .. we have ppl with companies here who had an interest, and now say they wont bother anymore, the moment passed.

Facetime - group support, can we please just select a few contacts and start a group call, and if it's less than x ppl, that we have video support? We're all on massive cpu/gpu phones with enough broadband and 4g+ accounts. Let us use facetime so we can stop using skype.

64gb storage as minimum, and just have 128 and 256 as options, and a pro phone with really high cam and extra ram and 512gb storage. If ppl wanna take photography a bit more serious and want to pay extra for an extra quality lens with extra features, i am sure they would pay for it, even if the cam sticks out, or is thicker for extra battery power etc. The phone is a tool, it's really not just a facebook snapchat instagram machine that has to match your 500$ shoes.

Wireless charging, so we can use airpods and phones and stuff that lies on the table and is being charged, or just use lightning earbuds and it's still being charged. i dont care if it takes a bit longer.. i just dont want the phone to die just because i have one plug left.

iCloud Drive needs a bit of a revamp, i really wish certain view of data would be possible, as well as better management of the content. And that it's not just a 'view' of what you have and then have a few things to do.. but control over your content.

iPad Multitasking, screen estate is not being utilized, it's so silly how certain apps are so cluttered because of it, but other apps are sorta great. Then the ability to just drag/drop content around and make it a work-useable thing, yay pls.

iCloud encryption. Can Apple please stop storing my personal and private, or even protected by contracts content in pain text?

Third party app (integration) security permissions. Can we let skype store to a folder, rather than having read/write access to all of photos? Or just skip photos and let me dump it in a for that app icloud drive folder?

Talking about security, having a paranoid option to disallow apps to gain access to clipboard. If it's accepted as a game, why does it need clipboard, you could say. naughty apps shouldn't slurp out the data from clipboard and steal it in secret, while you're switching to them

And maybe not security, but more privacy. Could location services be in a tier system perhaps, i'd love that. Facebook might be ok to check in on a particular location, while find my friends could be a full address, but skype doesn't need to know more than the country i am in. Etc. Don't overshare. pls

If 10.1 could have an option for wifi 'never join public networks, wpa2 only', that would be great.

Just like guided access has a time limit now, it would be nice if airdrop could have a time limit too now. I dont know why i would leave it on for more than an hour .. it's a temporary action.

If apps do not have access to the home screen for api popups, it would be nice if from now on apps could not ask for icloud credentials etc. If I set it to only do the homescreen popups, it could say 'iOS got a request from {app} to fill out your credentials' official apple apps included.

Thinking about it, and after reading some online stuff about this. I think stuff like lock my phone could be a bit more of a tiered system as well. On the road, or on 4g? maybe use immediate lock. But when I am home or at work, a couple of minutes of grace period wouldn't hurt.

User interface changes for 'button shapes' and thickness, would be nice. My parents have NO clue what a link or a title or a button is. They click everything until it works, or fails hard. Flat design is great, when done right. It's not done right currently in my opinion.

Health: completely turn this off please. We don't want to use it, no need to surprise me six months later that i have walked 200 km. opt-in pls. As wonderful of a feature it is.

oh gosh, im just ranting now. Ok, this is enough - tl;dr: bunch of stuff.
