I never used an Apple Watch, I’m waiting for the sport one in septembre.

I wonder if we need to launched the Apple’s app activities along side the WOD ?

@cfc do you know the Relive app, this make a google earth view of activities, a cool way to share them on social network, specially for hiking.
Do you think an implementation like Strava exporting is possible ?

It will be very interesting to see what changes Apple make to their Workout app when they introduce the new watch. However watchOS only allows one app at a time to run a workout session, so you should not run Apple's Workout app at the same time as WOD.

No-one has ever asked for Relive connectivity before so it is unlikely I will add a direct export from WOD (even if that is possible). I have considered including similar functionality (a 3D satellite view of the workout route) in the iPhone app because it looks very cool, but as no-one has asked for it so I haven't looked into it. Maybe one day as a fun side-project when I have finished AOD, turn by turn etc.

Oh I understand now

You said I only launch one app activities on Apple Watch ?! So I couldn’t have my workout on Runkeeper. That’s sad because Relive has a direct link with Runkeeper, so I thought I could have a Relive video by Runkeeper and bypass the lack of connection on your app.

As an other way, if you integrate a link for Runkeeper as Strava, Runkeeper will make the link to Relive.

But I know I’m the only one to ask this ^^

I tend to leave direct/automatic synching with other systems to third party apps like HealthFit and RunGap, both of which can access the workout data that WOD stores in Apple's Health system. WOD can automatically sync directly to Strava and can export FIT, TCX and GPX files for other systems.

WOD syncs with Strava because I had far more requests for that than for every other system put together, but system connectivity is not high on my list because it is already possible with HealthFit etc.

Having said that when Stryd provide a way for apps to upload directly then I may add that to the app. And when Training Peaks have rebuilt their API and start accepting new apps to upload to them then I may do that too. Runalyze is another future possibility because they offer an email mechanism for uploading, which would be easy for me to implement (but not automatically). None of these are high priority at the moment though.

You’re right !

Runkeeper fills activities by health’s app.
So as you said, WOD store activities in this file, and Runkeeper find activities here.

That’s not evident to know it at first time.
And due to the fact that I don’t have yet my apple watch, that’s why I don’t understand how Health’s app work

If Runkeeper reads activities from Apple's Health system then it should work automatically with WOD.

It probably explains why it's very rare that someone asks for Runkeeper connectivity in WOD!

Hi,

first of all, thanks for this amazing application <3

After few weeks using it I've 2 suggestions:
- a graph like the new Apple exercise heart zone
- a layout with one large slot on top and one on bottom with modular grid on the middle (to get something like on Garmin's watches).

The next version of the app will have the option of a zones graph at the bottom of the screen that will be similar to Apple's. This area at the bottom is awkward to use because of the rounded corners that prevent metrics reaching the bottom, so the app currently uses it to show the name of the screen profile (e.g. "Screen 1 : Overview") by default.

However you can currently configure it to show nothing or a couple of tiny metrics, and in the next version it will also have the option to show something similar to Apple's zones graph. As the next version will include power and pace zones you will be able to choose which of the 3 zones types to display there.

In terms of different layouts I don't have any plans to add new ones in the future. Maybe when I implement the Always on Display, because that will require a complete rewrite of that area of the code.

Thanks for the answer. Can't wait to test this new version ;)

Hi, have you considered adding the feature of 'storm alarm' according to the air pressure? Workoutdoors would be a very complelte outdoor app with this feature and make the Apple watch much more useful for hikers. Thanks again for the great work!

That is on my list but very low down because it has only been requested once before. Also it would be difficult to test. Maybe I will add it one day but not for a while. Sorry about that. Glad you like the app!

Thanks for reply, may I ask have you considered adding the 'route elevation profile' graph?

As @Bacasable says this is visible on the iPhone, but if you mean on the watch with a "you are here" marker then this is on my to-do list. It would require the app to "follow" your position on the route, which it does not do at the moment, but which I have been wanting to add for ages (together with other route features such as turn-by-turn etc).

These route improvements are joint top of my to-do list for when the watchOS 9 / AW8 / AWPro changes are finished. The other joint top feature is the Always on Display but that will involve a lot of work rewriting the app in SwiftUI and will therefore be a background task.

Thanks for reply, I will also buy an Apple watch pro (if really exists) and look forward to having the next version of Workoutdoors.

But don't workouts done on Apple Watch automatically sync with Relive anyway? (So a workout done in WOD would then also sync with Relive via Apple's Health app?)

Hi CFC in the next iOS, the iPhone could track activities.

So why not develop an WOD app fully fonctionable on iphone ?

I know all the data is based on the Apple Watch, but it could be great to use the iPhone as a bigger monitor, as for bike or hike
