Why invalid? I started a walking workout with GPS Route I downloaded to the watch. Now I can’t see the route and my calories seems a bit high too (for just walking?)

It's not all bad, seems like you still got credit for number of steps ??

Hi! I've read through much of the thread but I think it might be easier for me to just comment with these questions, lol.

1) My understanding is that WOD will let me program running interval workouts where each interval is a different distance, correct? I can then push this to my phone and use just my phone for these? (e.g.: 2 x 500m + 90s recovery, 4 x 200m + 90s recovery...)

2) How does WOD handle pauses when workouts are synced to Strava? Will it still show moving vs elapsed times and paces on Strava or something else? This is most relevant with aforementioned intervals workouts than if I'm doing a steady state run, of course.

Thank you!

Question, when I do a run using WOD, I’ll end it at an even mile marker, like 5.0. When it uploads to Activity, the Activity distance is always longer, for instance it was 5.07 yesterday. I’ve always thought my Apple Watch ran long anyway, but I was just wondering!

Also any idea why “indoor running” doesn’t record distance? That field is set to just “distance.”

Any tips on triggering a sync of an activity that is on the watch that didn't make it to the iPhone?

I did a run yesterday that doesn't show up, although the activity appears as a run in the Apple app.

I subscribed to the iOS 14 and watchOS 7 public betas and last night installed the latest updates and have also tried restarting both devices but still no workout showing in the iPhone part of the app.

Hi, since an iOS 14 beta update, my Watch 5 doesn’t sync bike routes (activity gets data, but the workout is missing). I hope to solve with iOS 14 GM, in the meanwhile I realized that workoutdoors, that I bought two years ago, is perfectly synced. I wanted to ask if it is enough stable for a 5 hours bike ride. It would be very bad if the app would shut down while biking in the mountains. Do you have experience about long rides with this app? Thanks in advance.

I've used it on long walks but not long rides.

I'm assuming that you are still on watchOS 6 or the question about stability would have more focus on watchOS 7 rather than the app.

I installed beta on phone, not on watch. I didn't think that beta on phone could compromise workout syncs.

It started after you did, so I will say it is very likely. Beta is beta.

That said, I haven't had any problems running workoutdoors for many hours. So I don't think you will have any problems using that instead. Actually I don't see why you would not use it, except Apple does not allow it to show on always on display.

the always on display is not a problem, I also use a Garmin 945 with cardio belt, but I also collect data with Watch. Honestly I don’t know if it was the beta, because I installed it last week and the problem started yesterday. Regards

Just to clarify - are you having any specific problems with WorkOutDoors that I can help with, or are you just asking if people find the app stable enough for a long ride?

the latter. Actually, when I use your app, it works like a charm. The only thing that prevents me from adopting it as the main one on AW is the always-on display. I hope apple will unlock it for developers, because your app is way better than default one (at least for biking and running).

1) WorkOutDoors allows you to create the intervals you describe, but you will still need the Apple Watch to use the app. It does not run on the iPhone alone.

2) Workouts sent to Strava will show all the intervals. Strava usually shows moving time by default (using it's own pause-detection algorithm), but this can be changed to show elapsed time if you change the Strava run type to "Race". I wish Strava allowed the user to choose which time to show by default, but unfortunately they do not.

I hope that helps.

When you say an even mile marker do you mean a marker on the road, or when the metric in the app reaches an even mile? Also have you disabled the "Use Calibrated Distances" option, so that distances are measured using the GPS?

Mile marker: meaning when the Watch app shows “5.00 miles” not a specific, known marker.

Use Calibrated Distances is set to off.

honestly I’ve always felt like the Activity app measured distances long (like I once did a wheel measured 9 miler and the activity app measured 9.27). So I was wondering if like, the WOD app can somehow use the GPS differently than the Activity app in that in communicates with satellites at a more frequent rate or something.

The activity app uses the pedometer to calculate distance, which requires calibration to work out your stride length. By default WOD uses these distance estimates, but if you switch off "Use Calibrated Distances" then it will calculate the distance from the GPS instead.

GPS can be affected by tunnels etc, which is why it is best to try calibrating the watch first before switching off the calibrated distances: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204516

The reason why you see a different distance in Apple's Activity app is because it will always show Apple's calibrated distances even when WOD is showing the GPS distance.

It is also why you were not seeing a distance for indoor running. There is a bug where the app is still using the GPS distance even when running indoors, which is why your distance was zero when calibrated distances were switched off. This bug had been in the app for a year and no-one had spotted it until you, so thanks for that. I guess no-one has tried running indoors after switching off calibrated distances. I have now fixed it in the code so it will work in the next version, but in the meantime please switch on calibrated distances before using Indoor Running.

Something for me. I get the activity but no workout route, no splits and no heart rate. Just did a 7Km run workout.

I am using IOS14 and still WatchOS6.

On the WOD app on the iPhone I see all the data correctly but it does not copied correctly to Fitness app (old Activity app). I do not think it is related to the fact that I am still using WatchOS 6 as all the data gets to the iPhone perfectly.
