I haven’t heard of this before but I guess that it is possible and maybe more so since Apple removed force touch.

It is probably best to use water lock if you want to completely remove the chance of this happening.
Hi, same for me with 4 taps, I tried this a few weeks ago. I didn’t try le water lock

Hello,

I wanted to buy a Garmin 245 but I think I'll buy your app instead... Very good work.

I have an apple watch S2 on watchOS 6.3 and Iphone 6S on iOS 14.3... I think this is ok.
No GPS on the watch, but I will use the watch + phone.

But before two questions:

- I have a POLAR OH1+ connected to my watch. Will it be used to read heart rate by the app ?

- If I do a 12k run, where can I find my time on 5k and on 10k. I see the times per lap (1k), but not the cumulative time after each lap, like on Garmin connect.

Thank you

The app will automatically use any heart rate sensor paired with the watch.

It shows the cumulative time during the workout but doesn't show the total time up to each lap when analysing afterwards. No-one had asked for that until very recently and now two of you have requested it. I have an idea where I might show it, so I may include it in the next version if it is easy.

btw: the S2 should have GPS on the watch.

I will buy the app and wait for news and updates.
And you're right, the S2 is with GPS... but I have the S1.
I'm still wrong, I always say S2 because in my mind it's the second after the apple watch first generation...

Thanks for buying the app. I have made that change in the code, so the next beta will show a column of the cumulative times for each lap instead of the column of elevation paces (which practically no-one used, especially in that context).

So you will be able to see your times through 5K and 10K (and every other km). It won't help people who run in miles but want to know their times for km, but it's a start. Hopefully they will also find it useful to see their cumulative times through each mile, and if necessary then they can always switch their laps to be km instead of miles (by changing the distance alert notification).

Hi Ian!

Is there any chance for iCloud database backup? Copy/paste through files in Finder on Mac is not so convenient. Maybe just import/export to iCloud in case of a clean installation?

iCloud integration is on my ToDo list. Not as high as some other things but it is definitely in my plans. It doesn't get requested very often, but I am expecting that to change as Apple One becomes more popular.

Any ETA for the next update?
Hi Ian, thanks for all your work !

The latest beta of the next version seems pretty stable in testing. I will probably release one more beta and if that is reliable then I will release it to the App Store. I like it to be stable in testing for a couple of weeks before releasing. I am hoping to get it on the App Store before the end of the month but that depends on no major bugs being found in the meantime. So far so good though.

To be honest I am not in a hurry to release at the moment because I am still dealing with lots of support queries since Christmas. There are many new AW users who have good questions about the app and answering those questions is currently taking up the majority of my time. So I would prefer to wait until that eases off before releasing a new version, because that will also mean extra support work. February is usually the quietest month for the app, so late January would be a good time to release.

@cfc : your app is by far the best application i purchased for my watch and makes the garmin useless.
I use it mainly for my ebike ridings.
One suggestion if I may: the results of the workout splitted by lap is fine, but I miss some "general workout report" where I can see in one look the calculation totals for each of the variables shown at the top of each tab.
For example, I would like to see a report like:
PACE
-avg speed
-max speed
-vertical speed
ELEVATION
-gain/loss
-ascent
-descent

etc...I know that I can see the totals switching the tabs, but what about a dedicated tab showing only the totals...then if someone is interested on the details...they are there.
At least I didn't find this function.
Congratulations for the app!

P.S.
1)Is there a way to show the map not in black and white at the end of the workout?
2)Is there a way to use the OpenStreetMaps instead of Mapbox? Or the OpenMTBMaps? Because if I enlarge the map in my watch at maximum zoom I see that details (shown in Openstreetmaps for PC) are missing (waypoints, name of places...)

Someone recently asked for the ability to configure the columns shown in the iPhone app, so I may allow that in the future. Not for a while though.

The next version of the app will allow you choose different colour schemes for each of the maps throughout the app but not that one. I may allow it to be configured in the future though.

The maps from Mapbox do come from OpenStreetMap but Mapbox do not include every single detail from OSM. As a background task I am currently evaluating a more detailed alternative (which also has contours and hill shading).

However more details means larger map tiles, which may not be practical in terms of speed of transfer to the watch; speed of drawing; memory usage etc. I am optimistic because it is 4 years since I wrote the map renderer and the AW series 1/2 was state of the art back then, so hopefully the more powerful hardware around now will be able to handle the more detailed maps. It may be that I only offer the more detailed maps for the newer models of the watch, but it is too early to tell.

Glad you like the app!

Thanks for the fast reply. I don't understand whether this is the answer to my question, rather to configure the columns I would like if its not too much trouble to have another tab, which will show all the final results of the workout instead of switching all the tabs manually...

Keep on with the good development of the app?

Sorry - from my point of view you both were looking for very similar things. It's just a case of working out the best way to achieve it. What often happens is that several people come up with similar requirements and I try to implement something that meets all their requirements. His requirement of column configuration would have allowed you to do what you want to do, albeit a bit awkwardly.

Having thought about it a bit more I may add an overview tab in the future as you suggest. When I add support for Stryd then that will mean a whole new set of metrics for power, which will probably mean a new Power tab, but only for Stryd users. There is only room for a certain number of tabs so I may add some mechanism that allow you to choose which tabs are shown and/or what order they are in. So at the moment I will keep an open mind about what to do and experiment to see what works when I have added power metrics.

Thanks for the reply, very interesting. I don’t want to push anything only suggest, maybe you find some idea interesting. When I say new tab, it was only an idea of development, but it can be anything else. For example, if the number of tabs is limited, you may create a general report in a more simpler way: by pressing the export button, one can export a txt file with the final results, or a pdf, or whatever for further consultation. In alternative of the new tab, another idea may be a long press on the workout file to choose general statistics or detail statistics...hope not bothering you too much?

Just read that Stryd will move their feature to download structured workouts from TrainingPeaks to a premium membership that costs a monthly fee. Starting in autumn this year.

One more good reason to have Stryd support in WOD as soon as possible. Would be happy to pay a fee (maybe yearly) for that (and for any other excellent stuff also of course).

you can easily do structural workouts for power and send to stryd with a completely free finalsurge.
I do it all the time.
Stryd WOD support -very, very much awaited by me.

Thanks. So is there an app for that or do I have to use Stryd app (as I do for TrainingPeaks workouts)?

Edit: found it myself. Some questions for you ;-)

So are you sure that the Final Surge sync will not be in the premium plan like TrainingPeaks sync will be?
And second question: how good is the workout editor? I currently do TrainingPeaks and well, it is basic to say the least. E.g. would love to do nested intervals like: Warmup, 3x( (5x500m/500m), 300m, (5x500m/500m) ) cool down.

Only power based or also pace based workouts possible?

The workout editor is great.
IMHO better than trainingpeaks
you will do any type of training.
you can choose power / pace / HR based workouts
or mix all of them
