Cool ? I ride a Specialized Vado SL.

Did you call up datas from your bike with a bike Computer? Wouldn‘t it be cool when WOD can do this.

Mode, Battery Power, Motor Power, remaining range?

@cfc
what do you mean, would this be possible?

Yes I use the same Blevo app (I am also a beta tester for it). It would be great to add metrics (power, assistance, etc) in the WOD app but who knows if possible. What I know is that Blevo communicates with TCU with BT LE protocol which is not closed by Specialized so maybe this can be achieved...

It sounds possible for an app to communicate with the bike if it uses BT LE, but even then if the data transfer is proprietary then I probably won't be connecting to it for a while. I don't want to have to write different code for each make of e-bike!

E-bike connectivity is low down my connectivity list at the moment. Sorry about that. Stryd is top of the list, followed by bike sensors, and then I will see what people are requesting most.

Thanks for the answer, it has sense that you don't want to write a different code for each model of ebike. But do not worry, they are all proprietary except Specialized who has a very large customer base in the world. If you have time have a look here at the Blevo application created by an Italian guy:

Seeing one of your main rivals go down the subscription route today - just looking for some reassurance that this isn’t going to happen with WorkOutDoors?

Definitely no plans to do it in the short term and probably not in the medium term either. I had been considering it because some features that I want to add require ongoing costs. So I was thinking about adding a subscription just for those features.

However the main such feature that people ask for is topo maps and I may have found a map-supplier who provides them for a similar price to what my current map provider charges for maps without topo data. So at the moment I am investigating that.

The other feature that people ask for that would require on-going costs is turn-by-turn navigation and I am considering a compromise solution for that which would remove the costs. This would require GPX files to contain the directions, which the app could read out as required. Many GPX providers supply files with such "cues" in them. This would not be as good as a full turn-by-turn solution, but it wouldn't require a subscription either.

So at the moment I don't have any plans for a subscription. Even if I did add one then I would not charge extra for functionality that people have already paid for. It would only be for new features that are not possible without charging extra. But even that has become less likely recently.

I tried your competitor today and what I really liked were the interval alerts which were very smooth and not disturbing at all. They lowered the volume of my podcast (Overcast) and only said "slower, faster and steady". And that not often so when running at a constant pace, after "steady" everything was fine until the next interval.

I remember WOD stopping the currently running podcast, is this still the case in the next version or do audio cues mix in the current audio like iSR does?

The next version of the app will have the ability to choose the interaction with audio from other apps. It offers the options provided by watchOS to mix, duck or pause (which will duck non-spoken audio).

The current version pauses, but some spoken audio apps do not recognise the request to resume, so the duck option (where it goes quieter rather than pauses) will hopefully provide a way to get around that.

@cfc I love the fact that WOD can automatically export to Strava. Any plans to add others. I am mainly interested in Smash run.

I tend to leave that sort of thing to apps like HealthFit and RunGap because I don't want to write different code for each different system. I only added Strava because more people had requested it than all the other services put together.

One possible exception in the future is for systems which allow email uploading (which I believe SmashRun does). I am considering adding the ability to email the TCX/GPX file to a configurable email address with a configurable title. You would then have an export option "Email Workout". It would not be automatic because apps cannot send emails without user input (for security reasons), but it would probably be easier than manually exporting a file and then importing it into the SmashRun website.

However this is relatively low down my list of priorities (unless lots of people want it?) and in any case it wouldn't be as good as using an app like HealthFit to automatically send workouts from Apple's Health system.

On that note, I’ve literally just purchased my Stryd pod.

@cfc, when it gets to the right stage then more than happy to be a beta tester.

Going to miss using your app until that time :(

Sorry that the app is staying on. This is a problem with watchOS 7 that only affects a few people. The app uses the GPS for a few minutes after you use it, so that it doesn't have to reacquire the GPS if you briefly drop your wrist. It seems that for some people watchOS 7 is treating this in the same way as it does a workout, and somehow keeping the app always active. Hopefully it is a bug they will fix rather than a deliberate change.

The next version of WorkOutDoors makes it optional whether or not to keep the GPS on (and defaults to not keeping it on). This should be released in the next few weeks.

Hi.
Do anyone had a problem with forced press in WOD? It happened two times on my watch. When I'm done with my workout and is about to press hard to end it nothing happens. If I go out from the WOD app and into another app force press is working, but when I go back to WOD it doesn't work.. So I had to restart the watch (probably it could be enough to force quit the app, but I didn't know how to do that before I read it right now) and then my workout was gone, of course.. Is it a known bug, or just happened to me?

I will make an "end workout" button on one of the screen to fix the problem, but I think you should know about it since it happened twice and it worked on other apps..

What version of watchOS are you using? Apple removed force press with watchOS 7 and now you need to do a long touch without any force.

Just a quick idea: I just created a new 5-3-1-3-5 interval workout and it would have been great to clone elements of a workout. Would be cool to see the estimated workout time, too :)
