I had JUST gotten a Powerbook G4 with a broken LCD on eBay for pretty cheap and ordered a replacement LCD. So I decide to replace it. Everything went fine. I noticed the screen didn't clasp right, so I popped the keyboard/cover back off. When I tried to remove the ambient light sensor from the motherboard, it popped off.. but with the socket! The socket broke right off of the pins on the mobo.. And I never got to enjoy the light-up keyboard ever again.

Not the worst, but still ticks me off.

yikes! how did that happen?

That, my friend, is what happens when you sit down to watch a movie in your theater, and your BRAND NEW iPhone slips out of your pants pocket, into the metal reclining mechanism of the chair you're sitting in.

I'm so surprised they replaced it for nothing, they told me they couldn't do anything for mine, and only my glass is cracked. They gave me two options, buy a new old one for $299, or get the 3g for $299 :( I even have apple care.

man that sucks!! but, looking at your other flickr photos it appears you got it resolved for very little cost?

That's one advanced cinema
the cinemas seats around here don't recline!
sorry for your loss :(

my local cinema charges extra for 'luxury' seats. So there's 1/5 of the cinema sitting in nice large chairs with extra leg-room, while me and Joe Bloggs get comfy in the leopard skin (yes thats right) seats with only just enough leg room for a toddler :p

This occurred mere months after the iPhone was released, so Apple was treating ALL iPhone owners like kings.

The accident occurred in my home theater, not at the cinema.

Hmm. With my PowerBook, I haven't really had any accidents. The worst thing that's happened to it is the power adaptor started fraying at the power connector, so I don't use the PowerBook anymore.

iPods, however, are a different story.

The third iPod I had was my one that i beat the ever-living hell out of. I dropped it countless times, and when I was at a school dance it flew out of my pocket at mach 3, hit the ground and split wide open. Of course, I swore quite loudly(this was a Catholic school with teachers around, mind you) and started flipping out. I guess a few tabs must have broken or something, because from taht point on it was very easy to split it open, and finally another time I dropped it, the fall managed to sever the hard drive cable. Not good.

And finally, with a school MacBook, I was demonstrating just how easy it was to remove the hard drive and RAM from them. I took the RAM out, no problem. Took the hard drive out and put it back in. Again, no problem. Put the RAM back in. Problem. It wouldn't seat in the slot. Took some clever maneuvering with a credit card and the padding around the L bracket to get it to work, and I'm willing to bet it's still not seated correctly.

I've never dropped or had any problems with my MacBook (knock on wood). However, I have dropped my old iPod Nano (1st Gen) about 3 423 098 times. About a month ago, I was riding my pushbike reasonably fast (12-15km/hr) while listening to my iPod. All of a sudden, my iPod falls out of my pocket on to the footpath. I was scared ****less because I thought the back tyre of my bike would've ran it over, and the headphones came off it too. Luckily, though, my iPod survived its 3 423 098th crash, with no screen damages or operating faults whatsoever.

I've got 2....

1) Spilled a glass of milk on my old Blue Tooth keyboard from my last Mac setup. Good riddance!!!! Got the new slim one now. This old one is still collecting dust in my room though. LOL!

2) Not really my fault!!! My old 17" Flat Panel display (now my sister's) constantly fell over because the rubber wore off of the bottom pieces so it slipped around on the desk.

I don't have any catastrophic accidents as some of you do, however, a couple weeks ago I was using my 15" Unibody on a TV dinner tray, and the whole thing fell down! Thank god nothing happened. But thats my worst accident with my mac.

I accidentally flung a ping-pong paddle, and it destroyed my old Blackbook's display. That was fun explaining to my parents...

No pictures of it, though, because I had no camera.

I am actually working on a pretty beat up PowerBook G4 for a friend of mine, it is at home right now (as I am at the office, though I should have brought it to put it on the bench). But when I get the chance I will get some photos. Basically scratched up on the bottom, and missing a screw or two. I am not sure what she did to it. She says it stopped working and I think her AppleCare is out, I may be able to fix it, we will see.

Geez, how do you guys manage to do these things? I feel like wrapping my Macbook Pro in a cushioned case whenever I lift it off my desk...
