Do you think Apple is having reality shock after they released nMP and the outcome of it?
No, Apple makes more profit from themed Olympic Iwatch bands. The Mac Pro is irrelevant to the bean counters.

Yep, the new design for the next decade
For sure. An E5-x600 v2 machine in 2023, price adjusted for inflation ($4499 for a 12 GiB quad core...).

I flocked.

It worked for me.

The compact design, no noise, and nMP flexibility fits for me.

Otherwise, I had planned on stacking Mac minis. No longer.

I'm selling my Mac Minis to get more cylinders. At lower prices.

My computing future looks strong & flexible.

With all due respect, if you were at all considering Mac Minis, you were never in the market for the MacPro to begin with. As is the case with many of the nMP supporters.

There are people out there who need raw power and would be willing to pay for it. I'd drop 10k on proper MacPro workstation in a heartbeat. Dual Procs, slots, lots of internal bays...

I think most professionals have moved on to Windows boxes by now. Apple has waited too long to make any sort of move back into the pro market. I'm pretty sure they're phasing themselves out of the traditional computer business altogether. I wouldn't be surprised if Sierra is the last of the MacOS's. It's too bad, because they did great things. Apparently they're done being a great company with great products. Long live the golden years 1997-2011. Tim Cook, you've ruined a once great company. Thanks.

IN the same respect gents if you need the computer you need it whether it's old or not. While I couldn't more fully disagree with how he's doing what he's doing it's still a need and he's fulfilling it to the best of his ability.

Why didn't you post links to the news of Apple Watch sales plummeting? Seems to be just as relevant to the reality of Tim's leadership.
because the link i posted was on the front page and fresh on my mind.. i'm sure i could find some negative apple watch news too if i went searching for it.

either that or many have moved on to iMac type computers and laptops..
it's probably not so much that they're abandoning apple.. more like they're abandoning the box.

anecdotally at least, this is what i see happening in the businesses i'm around and/or dealing with..

I think it’s worse than that. Most of the Macs that I see when I got to site are not running OSX either.

You're buying 3-year old hardware.
How is that flexible?
Exactly. Even if a nMP wqould be released in September, I would fear that Apple will leave it rotting for another 3 years.

Apple should communicate which technologies they are going to adapt in the future.
They can leave out all the gimmicks they plan to add to make it more fancy, but some kind of CPU/GPU/Chipset roadmap would be great.

If you look at any other brand of Desktop or Laptop computers, you can be sure they will update their product line, regardless of what they sold as high-end last year.

Apple is playing a spply-chain game that enables them to get deals for old components because they can still sell them.
I cannot even imagine the margins on those 3 year old logicboards.

The only thing I do not understand is that they are constantly changing the form factor and capacity of their batteries.
if you open any Dell or Lenovo, you will find standard battery packs that probbaly cost next to nothing.

I do not care about 5mm more thickness (yes, yes ... I know who does ... obvious joke)

Quite the contrary actually for what will be only small production runs. Apple will have to buy a lot of inventory up front & pay premium prices to guarantee ongoing supply of spares etc. The lifetime of the average graphics card is only a year or so.

that's how a fab shop down the street is running. mostly mbp but using Windows. they do a lot of CAM work and there isn't really much in the way of that type of software for OS X.. fusion360 is changing that (cloud based) but it's not big-time production ready yet nor is it the legacy/industry standard software most of these guys have learned with.

I guess that Apple discontinuing the "Mac Pro" is a real possibility. Maybe we'll know more when macOS Sierra is released this fall. I just hope that there will be some decent multi-core audio user options available for Logic Pro X when I need to retire my cMac Pro.

No.
I don't believe Apple is going to build a computer for what people in this specific forum want to stay with.
It is just not EVER going to happen again.

If you want a form of Mac tower with newer hardware you're going to have to look into some form of Hackintosh.

Haha.

$42.4 billion in revenue, company ruined because one of the lowest selling products hasn't been refreshed. Dolts up in here.
