Ok we are not discussing here if and should one have a screen protector in the first place ? The thread talks about using a Screen Protector with regards to using it on the 12.9" XDR liquid Retina Display iPad Pro.
Clearly lots of posts in this thread have deviated from your original point.

Yeah but like, there are worse things happening in the world today. People are offering you their opinion, perhaps it’s what you were after, perhaps it isn’t, but that’s ok. Each to their own…

For what it’s worth, I have one on order and have been debating exactly this. I have a glass protector and a matte film protector but I’m seriously considering going without on this iPad due to the screen quality. I might do it, I might not. But I’m not going to worry about other peoples opinions on it!

On my 2018 iPad there was a piece of dust or something that dragged when I used the Apple Pencil causing a visible scratch in the center of the iPad I couldn't take my eyes off i'm 100% using a screen protector on my 2021 model.

I will be putting one on mine, partly due to habit but also to help with resale value when the time comes, you can easily gain £100-£150 resale value when the screen is in pristine condition.

2 Pack of the ESR screen protectors = £15, personally I have never found the ESR ones to degrade the quality or responsiveness of the screen and at least I have got the peace of mind.

If I were to invest in Apple Care, I probably would still slap one on it lol 😂

bought a pen tip for Apple Pencil to compensate for the screen protector I’m putting on my new iPad.

Honestly, unless you’re going outside with your iPad Pro and the sun is glaring down at your screen... don’t see glare being a problem.

slapping a flolab glass protector on it and calling it a day.
Slapped the flolab blue light protector on my new 12.9. It’s horrible. In daylight it adds a blueish tint to everything. Never experienced anything like that with Zaggs blue light protectors.

Hadnt used them before. Have to say they’re quick to ship but very slow to no service if there’s a problem or question.

Chose the regular one, never believed in that blue light stuff. Working really well over here!

I always use a screen protector on my Apple products. For my new 11 inch IPP, I have an Elecom film that gives the paper like feel with the pencil. I initially tried Whitestone Dome screen protector (based on a recommendation from this forum) - price was right and came with 2. However, both were defective. They both had an exact same tiny spot in the middle that would not lay down flat. I am pretty good with installing protectors but those were garbage. I highly recommend the Elecom brand. My 9.7 IPP has its original Elecom protector and it still looks great. The new Elecom went down beautifully.

Forget about getting a glass screen protector, which simply adds thickness and weight with very little benefit. I’d highly recommend getting a matte film screen protector for the iPad Pro instead. I’ve used one from iCarez for the past couple of years and it’s awesome.

Not only does the matte surface provide more resistance when using the Pencil, but it blocks just enough reflections to make it easier to use in brightly lit rooms. It also is easier to clean than the bare glass, imho. I can also say that it protected my iPad the one time it fell off a table onto a brick patio. The screen protector got damaged, but none of the scratches made it through the film onto the glass.
I totally agree with you. I use a glass protector on my phone and the Elecom paper like film on my IPP.

I put a spiegen glass ez fit immediately on my new 12.9, can’t notice any difference zero bubbles. It’s mostly for peace of mind. I did not use a screen protector on my 2018 iPad Pro, did not notice any scratches unless you look for them under certain lighting conditions.

I don’t put a screen protector on my laptop and I use my iPad kinda like a laptop.
Plus a screen protector will negate the anti reflective coating.

Been using my new 12.9” without a screen protector since Friday and am now convinced not to use one again. Much less reflections compared to the 2020 I have with one on, fingerprints are a lot less visible as well since theres less reflection/glare.

Went without for the first time when I got my 11" Pro because of the glass screen protector touch glitches (registered funny if it was on a pillow, or not touching the metal sides, etc). Got a micro scratch on the outer bezel from wiping with a cloth after about 3 weeks of use -- and I treat my iPads with kid gloves!

I put a glass screen protector on and no more scratches and the micro scratch isn't visible anymore. A later software dot release seemed to have fixed the wonky touch stuff too. Never again going w/o a glass protector.

Since I WFH most days now, I just use my phone with no case, a magnetic PopSocket, but definitely still have a glass screen protector. I'm fussy about my screens. :)

Just transferred the full screen protector from my 2018 12.9 iPad Pro to my 2021. Works fine.

Which one comes with a guide to apply the screen protector like the otterbox glass I use with my iPhone pro Max? It went on easily.

I just got my ESR screen tempered glass protector delivered and installed this afternoon with no bubbles. So far there isn’t any issues with my Apple Pencil, or screen quality. I do not want to take the chance of possibly leaving a scratch on my new iPad because a possible piece of dirt or something sharp got on a clean microfibre cloth.
