Samsung Note 9 may be launching today with a fingerprint sensor under the screen. They are still not caught up to Apple's Face ID but some have lamented the loss of Touch ID. I would stay with the iPhone regardless but a fingerprint sensor imbedded in the glass would be great to have in addition to Face ID.

Face ID. It takes away the conscious effort of unlocking your phone. Just swipe up and you're in.

Yeah people will say you're essentially touching the screen so there's no difference with Touch ID, but you need to consciously press it and unlock it.

I completely forgot about Face ID until I couldn't open my phone for some reason and I got really worried. Turns out it was my housemate's IPX and we have the same background.

I have no finger prints and it has always been a problem when it comes to being fingerprinted. Face ID has been a Godsend! It works so well and I hope it will show up on Laptops and the iPad. As it is,I have to always type in my passwords except on my iPhoneX, the best phone anywhere.

I don't have an X but I've seen a few people who continually had to lift the phone to their face to unlock. I think I'd find that annoying - especially if driving and I just need to check the latest on WAZE.

TID for sure

FID is ok but not as quick as TID

i love it when i hear people saying FID works all the time....BS its does not...ive had it since january....TID worked all the time...also convenient laying flat on a desk (TID)

and Apple pay is much better with TID---double press and gone.....TID double press then hold the phone up ...then hold to the reader...

hopefully FID gets better on the next gen since we will no longer have TID

FaceId 100%. Having a job where I work with my hands, touchid is hit or miss(mostly miss) so FaceId has been wonderful. When sitting at my desk at home I have my X on a wireless charging stand so I have no problem with the phone unlocking when I need to use it without picking it up. When the phone is on a bar top or table, I always pick the phone up to use it or check notifications so people around me don’t try and snoop

I've gotten quite used to Face ID, and while it still has its flaws I like it and I think its the future so I vote for that.

They did not include A fingerprint reader under the display. Which to me, goes to show you that this technology is not ready yet due to manufacturing difficulties or Samsung may follow in Apples footsteps and develop their own version of Face ID, which Apple clearly has defined the future 3D facial mapping.

Quite frankly, I believe Face ID is the biometric security feature moving forward. It is more secure than fingerprints and the tech will only get better. I sat out this years iPhone X but plan to sell my 7 Plus and move up to the iPhone X replacement.

Tim Cook stated directly face ID is the future for Apple. It won’t be just about the iPhone in the future, it’s likely going to make its way to the iPad and the MacBook. This is just the starting point.

I like the FaceID.

Even if they perfect TouchID on the screen, I do not see Apple going back to it.

I would hope they some day have a phone with Face ID with a wide angle lens, whole screen as a fingerprint sensor and voice recognition for a totally transparent security system. If Face ID fails it senses your thumb on the swipe up to unlock etc. You phone will feel unsecure for you at first but in the hands of someone else it will be locked.

We can wish for what we all want. Reality is Apple has embraced FaceID.
