I am a big fan of Linus, but this review of the iPhone was so unfair and don't understand how such a reputable Youtuber gives such a hateful review?. I've had my Xs Max for a few weeks now and I am still impressed by it.

He said there is hardly any difference between X and Xs, well I bought Xs Max and it is a massive difference. And Linus, as PC users like me know, is a massive benchmark guy. The iPhone outperforms any other phone out there in terms of benchmarks, it is head and shoulders above even the closest competitor - Samsung. It's not even a competition. Why doesn't he address this?

He says the design is too similar, barring Xs Max, what about last two rounds of Samsung phones?

He complains about real estate on screen size? I prefer xs max, no bottom lip, and higher screen to body ratio.

He complains about Apple display being crap about thick bezels on xs. But the bezels and frame are much thicker on Note 9? What? And in terms of quality, I would say iPhone Xs Max is probably the second best screen on the market after Samsung's own.

Biggest point for me anyway is how reliably and smoothly iOS runs. Not the stuttering, freezing etc you see on Android. A better user experience, the apps all work better on iPhone.

Fair complains are headphone dongle maybe, and price definitively, it costs Apple £300 ish to produce xs max so it could be a bit cheaper.

The notch is not ideal, but it is the best. Only when watching videos it is a problem, and you get watch the whole video or enlarge it to full screen with the notch. After using the Xs Max, I would prefer this over the top and bottom chin of Samsung. And have you seen the number of manufacturers copying the notch now? Clearly it's selling s*** loads, so people are buying it.

Ppffftttttt hahahaha you claimed Linus was a ‘good youtuber’ hahahaha..

He’s a class A idiot, he doesn’t like Apple really and likes to hate on them. The mans a PC fan through and through, doesn’t know everything about computers either despite his over inflated ego and is dumb enough to blow over a hundred and forty grand on a RED camera for his You Tube videos!!?? Yeah because using the same cameras The Avengers is filmed on is great for that You Tube compression..

And let’s not forget the iMac Pro his idiot friend broke after taking it apart just because, and then blaming Apple for not repairing it.. Yeap Linus is one big class A idiot.

Linus has generally been biased against iPhones for years along with Unbox Therapy. He does have a few valid points though--there really isn't much difference between the X and the Xs. But if you're coming from an older iPhone it's a huge upgrade.

He's way off on the screen bezels. I don't know how he can say that when so many Android phones are copying the notch *and* are too cheap to eliminate a huge chin on their phones.

Each of these youtubers carefully tailor their videos either for hate watching or to make their users feel validated for their choices. If you want to feel validated about Apple products, head over to Tailosive Tech.

He clearly hates iOS, that's all.

Also, he is still hurting from the fact that Apple refused to fix his iMac Pro(having taken it apart himself first, how stupid can you be?).

He keeps brining up the Note 9 in the video, I am sorry, but it ain't even close to any iPhones, just because it has android, it's as simple as that.

PS: His voice alone annoys the f#£k out of me

After moving on from the idea that “I need everyone to know I have the new iPhone” I didn’t find it unfair at all. Some of the complaints were more about iOS than the hardware, though.

I don’t see Apple taking huge risks with their bread and butter product. Some folks will upgrade every year no matter what. They either spend all their time justifying the value in doing so or complaining about how incremental the upgrade was.

Linus is probably still butt hurt that Apple didn't repair his 5k iMac Pro.
He voided his warranty and any chance of getting it repaired by Apple (even for a price) by breaking and opening it up.

Also, he is still hurting from the fact that Apple refused to fix his iMac Pro

I don't know anything about this youtuber and I am not defending his review, but IIRC, he was upset that Apple did not have the iMac Pro repair parts after his friend broke the screen.

He isn't the only one to complain about the lack of repair parts of the iMac Pro. It seems like there is not a whole lot of support for the iMac Pro, not a lot of repairs parts for it, and not too many Apple employees trained to work on them.

I find it hard to watch his videos.

He is a good youtuber, normally very very fair in his reviews.

When he compares nVidia and AMD he is always fair, but iPhone and Android - so unfair.

Even if they had the parts and the rep, Apple will not repair opened or modified iMacs for any price. His friend didn't merely break the screen. As another Youtuber mentioned, Samsung is the same way.

Since you know this ahead of time, why are you surprised about the video? Unless you determine your purchase decision on what he says, his YouTube diatribe (such as it is) is rather meaningless.

There's a reason no one is all that excited about the Xs or Xs Max. They're ho-hum boring. XR is going to steal their sales and thunder. At least they're interesting phones despite having fewer features.
