The only two issues I see are

1: no video recording, not that I would use it but most phones have it. Also, the MBPs just got updated with a 1.3MP camera, seeing as the iPhone has a 2MP and when taking pictures it gets rather choppy, I can see why they did not put it on.

The second is no landscape mode in Mail. I am a wiz at using two fingers in landscape, but find it more cumbersome in portrait.

so your saying your a fanboy? :D

aaaaaaaaaah. I can't help it. I swore I wasn't going to post for spelling/grammar. I saw it in a thread title the other day, too.

IT'S YOU'RE. Not YOUR.

I'm not 40, but I suppose, sometimes, I fall into the fanboy category.

edit: I know I'm gonna go down in flames for this, but I feel better :)

I am so sick of the whole "fanboy" term.
When did this enter the techno-lexicon?

Yes I do like Apple (and at one time was under their employ).
I have had Treos and Palms, and honestly since day one thought they just sucked. Syncing to my Macs was a horrible joke, many times corrupting my master data. A typical call to customer support went similar to "Oh, you have a Macintosh, hmm..."

Been there, done that (with the competition) so if that makes me a fan of a company that finally makes a smart phone (that works) for my needs then sobeit. Cannot imagine the millions of people out there using Windows are MS "fanboys".
They are simply computing on mediocrity for the masses because they know no better.

Battery Life increase

I've noticed that during the day I can turn the brightness on the phone almost alllll the way down, and it helps keep my battery up FOREVER. Same trick for increasing battery life on my Macbook too.

Interesting. I will try that. Where can I do that on the phone? In settings?

...and this is why you don't buy a 1 Gen apple product.

To some of us, the iPhone is better than 5th gen versions of other phones. Here's my experience with 2 phones with problems:

I had a problem with my 8525, and was told to go to an AT&T store. They told me to call customer service. I had to listen to someone read solutions from a web search until they finally sent me to a real tech. That person told me to call HTC.

B) 1st gen iPhone: Safari crashed. I went to the 24/7 Apple store. Restore = fewer crashes. And are people clearing their cache in Settings?

Apple does not want egg on their faces. I KNOW I'm a $600 + accessories "beta tester." Yes, I consider myself that. But I am so happy with it. The issues are no more major than with my 8525.

by "mullman," "They are simply computing on mediocrity for the masses because they know no better."

Computing on mediocrity...You say that and you're not a fanboy??? For fun let's just say for one minute that Apple is perfect; and Microsoft is not. Would you agree with that? No, but Apple is better; fine, OK. How do You explain that Apple owns only 3%-5% of the worlds PC market, that their MP3 device is outpacing their PC products, and the Apple Computers, just changed their name to Apple, Inc.?

OK, yes, their are MS fanboys out on this thread...that buy the way own an iPhone. ;)

Oh, did I mention that Bill Gates has bailed out Steve Jobs and Apple multiple time...yes from bankruptcy...:D

Really? Multiple times? Steve Jobs? Bankruptcy?

I learn new things every day!:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Bill Gates did not "bail" Steve Jobs out of bankruptcy ;). He purchased 100 million dollars in non-controlling shares of Apple computer which enabled them to bring Steve Back as CEO of Apple. Those shares were NON-CONTROLLING and sold ten years later... what were they in exchange for?
The ability to use proprietary Apple technology ;)

That's a good spin!

Of course we won't talk about how MS was only trying to keep monopolistic accusations at bay by ensuring that Apple was able to continue. Oh, and the continued revenue from Office. Steve really should be a lot nicer to Bill…really…:apple:

good spin? you're funny n00b :rolleyes::rolleyes:

monopolistic accusations at bay? or were they trying to satisfy the government after their little "independent contractor" scandal?

Also... why would you be nicer to Bill? look at what Bill stole from Steve in the early 80's ;)

Change your email auto-download settings and your battery life will triple.

Nothing about the battery is "good" to me though I understand people saying it is good for what it does in terms of functions.

I understood when I bought the phone that it was NOT something that would last me days while browsing the net.

But I also don't think it is too much to ask for a phone to stay juiced from 9am-5pm while using it on/off during the day for internet/email/texting.

I don't use or put any music on mine.

So i stood in line for two hours on launch day and got my hopes up that this toy would live up to the hype, and i am sorely disappointed. I am blown away by the fanboy response here and how people are overlooking the simplest things that are wrong with this thing. First, safari is pathetic. No saving documents, no flash and it CRASHES all of the time. You can't listen to the ipod and surf because it crashes constantly. The iPod is decent, but it constantly has problems deciphering whether its in landscape mode or not and i feel like when i am walking around with it i have to hold it a certain way so it doesn't go into coverflow. The headphone jack is ****ing pathetic as well! Why is it recessed? None of my headphones work with it, and the belkin adapter is large and inconvenient. The call quality is decent, but so low that people are constantly tell me that they cant hear me, and i have to hold it a certain way. The mail app and the phone itself seem to be the only usable and reliable programs. The wifi on mine does not connect to some routers, and my answer from the people is that it all depends on the router and how it is set up. Come the **** on! Apple says its not a watered down and i laugh historically at this, as that is exactly what it is. Edge is a smack in the face, and unless you are using low bandwidth websites like facebook or macrumors, it takes FOREVER to load. The widgets are elementary and quite laughable in my opinion. The phone function is the only thing that seems to be without problem, and I can't even begin to tell you how 'un-apple' this thing feels to me. I had the original iPod, and remember plugging it into my iBook and everything loaded and i unplugged it and that was it. I had to download software, and figure out how to load my media onto the device because it does not do drag and drop. If apple really was testing this thing for 5-6 months, I am blown away that they did not catch some of this ****. Either they did and are playing the business card and waiting to update it to continue sales, but for those of us that are out half a grand are stuck with a buggy piece. I am also blown away by the fanboy support of this. People are defending it like its near perfect, and it is far from it. :(

If I were you, I would return the piece of crap.
I am keeping mine though. :D
