Wow, that looks great! I was sold as soon as I saw the space shuttle... but, having the B2 and some experimental planes is pretty sweet too...! Actually, it's a great diverse mix of planes, old and new.

Im looking into buying a MBP as im sick of Windows and would love to be able to play X-Plane 10 on it.

which MBP would people recommend from the current line up?

Yeah

I've been running the demo on my Corei7 iMac with 16 gigs of ram since Thanksgiving and hopefully it's in my small pile of presents I am to receive.

I tell you, at times it really looks and feels like real flying having flown before.

It's about as close as you can get to the real thing, especially on a big 27" iMac screen, it looks terrific.

According to the X-Plane.org forums presently there isn't a PC or Mac in existence that can run it with all of the options maxed out.

There's lots and lots of room for growth.

I got X-Plane 10 for christmas. There are quite a few bugs in it, but it is still in beta....

The plugins I use( pushback and autogate) in v9, don't get along with v10. It causes the game to ground to a halt and isn't very smooth even with settings all the way down to low/none. Remove the plugins, I can restore settings close to the way I had them for v9.

Overall, I am impressed with v10. I love the new ATC system and the fact you are actually vectored and put into a landing sequence and have AI airplanes. Once the bugs get worked out and everything is updated for v10, this will be one rock solid flight sim and might be the best X-Plane yet.

The system requirements are 2 ghz an 3 ghz is best. I have a 1.7ghz core i5 MacBook Air. Would that hold up to run x-plane?
EDIT: What about the graphics card and the ram? I got 4gb of ram (obviously) and an Intel HD Graphics 3000 384mb.

IMHO, don't waste your money. X-Plane 10 will eat that Macbook Air alive. The POS Intel GPU is enough to say X-Plane 10 will suck on that system.

There's no harm in downloading the demo and seeing how it runs. I find the Intel 3000 graphics are better than a lot of people give them credit for. Yes, your system is a little on the low side of the required specification so I don't think you should hope for too much. But, I suspect if you lower the graphics settings a nudge or two you'll be fine.

So I got the demo, the first automatic launch was very laggy. Launched it a second time and it was a little better and I lowered the textures to low. I have troubles taking off >.<. I dragged the throttle but that wasn't very efficient. The F1 and F2 to the throttle adjusts the brightness of my display. How can I take off?? I don't want to know the fancy controls such as confirming with ATC, setting my route, etc.

Go into system preferences and into the keyboard settings and check the box where it says use F1, F2, etc as standard function keys.

First post....

Just got my copy of X-Plane 10. :D
Ordered Xmas Eve. Delivered to the UK today 30th Dec.
Used the USPS service which was quoting 1 to 3 weeks!:)

Running it on a IMAC 27", I7 3.4, 16gb Ram, AMD 2gb graphics card.
Using Saitek X52 Stick / Throttle.

It is awesome. Running most options at max and its smooth.

I am looking to buy flight controls for a friend, and know nothing about this stuff. He is a pilot in real life, and would love the most realistic feel possible.

Who has? And where can I find yoke, throttle, pedals, etc... for a Mac?
I will also be buying him a program, and from what I've read X10 is the way to go. FOllowed closely by FlightSimulator (i think that was it at least).

For a PILOT, which would you recommend?
Again, I need advice on where to find the controls too.
Please answer both questions.
Thanks.

Any update on best Yoke and Rudder pedals at a reasonable price?

I have a MacBook Pro i5, 2.4ghz, but only 384 VRAM. Will this suffice?
also, I want to run it on my TV as a monitor. It's a 720P LED. I don't need it to look perfect, but I want to run it as a tool to prep for an airline interview. Any suggestions??

Thanks,
Brad

Replaced the Radeon HD 4870 with the Radeon HD 5870 inside my 2008 Mac Pro.... (couldn't resist as I could get a nice deal)

Huge, huge benefit for X-Plane 10!! :)

Game looks awesome. Just bought a copy. I do have a stupid question though. I have no idea about flying but always wanted to learn and this looks like a great tool for that. Any suggestions on how to start learning flight simulators?

Thanks

Still have FSX, want something fresh. I heard all about this excellent flight simulator. From reading the reviews and seeing some videos this looks like the most realistic flight simulator I have ever seen. But do you have to buy online, or can you purchase it at a store?

I've seen it in stores, but you usually have to go to a specialty "hardcore" computer store...I know I've seen it at Fry's, and at my local Apple reseller. I'm not sure I have ever seen it at a GameStop type store...and I can't remember if I have ever seen it at an Apple Store, but maybe they would?

I would think that downloading the trial would be the best way to start, and if you like, just order from Amazon (yes, they have it).

I just read the April 1 joke: http://www.x-plane.com/news/

"Also, we at Laminar Research have noticed that it is a somewhat formidable achievement to make X-Plane work on Mac, Windows, and Linux. It simply involves a decent amount of knowledge, savvy, and work. Also, we love the constant viruses, crashes, and frustrations that we go through with Windows so frequently, so we have decided to remove support for Mac and Linux and just provide X-Plane on Microsoft Windows. We here at Laminar Research believe that the success of Apple is just a fad, and that Microsoft will be the future of computing, since we all love Microsoft Windows so much, just like we know you do."
:eek::D

10.10b1 due out soon, with a new oil rig platform

Might move it to 64 bits.
That'll help the out of memory issue you can have if you have the settings high enough...

I fly XPX at reasonably high settings (VRAM exceeds 700 MB). I have loads of custom scenery installed and whenever I approach an airport where I have lots of scenery installed (like the paid airport KIAG with all the Manhattan buildings too) I get the standard out of memory issue... and the app crashes. Really annoying....
See: http://www.x-plane.com/?article=configuring-x-plane-to-use-less-virtual-memory
X-Plane Runs Out of Virtual Memory

Because X-Plane is a 32-bit application, it can only use a certain amount of memory. That limit varies by operating system:

Windows 32-bit: 3 GB.
Windows 64-bit: 4 GB.
Mac OS X: 3.5 GB.
Linux: 3 GB.

x-plane 9

Been running x-plane 9 for a couple of months now and just totally captured by the reality of this experience. best op for ultimate flying variety in plane models would be to get payware planes for nav systems and complexity of the cockpit.

X-Plane 10.10 beta X memory issues are getting huge for me now... :(

Have turned down the grfx settings quite a lot, and halved the AI aircraft.

Still... take a look:

I wonder why I've never gotten that error.. I have the graphics settings really high and have the maximum number of AI aircraft.

Hmm.. maybe it has to do with the Scenery it's loading?
Airports like EHAM (freeware), KIAG (payware), EGLL (Aerosoft with some additions) make X-Plane 10 easily reach 2.8 GB RAM of real memory.
Could also be the plugins...?

Do you have much scenery installed and/or use many plugins?

EDIT: Could you post a screenshot of the memory it uses?
