.....and neither will you or anybody convince me or others what we see with our eyes either , the glorious media content on that gorgeous 2k screen, i mean it’s not even so much the OLED vs LED it’s the 1792 x 828 in 2018 LMAO. What bothers me the most the screen is downgraded and noticably from the 8+. Reading this thread it seems Apple customers are settling for this and then people complain why the phone comes with a 5w charger in the box!

Wait, why are you so concerned about what others do with their money? It's like saying You probably settled for your econobox commuter car, "LMAO", why would someone drive a 200bhp econobox LMAO, the glorious acceleration of my 469bhp monster, it's gorgeous aero. See how ridiculous I sound?

Frankly, I couldn’t care less what anybody else buys. I just know I won’t pay $1000 for a smartphone anytime soon, whatever the specs. Personally, it’s not that high on my list of priorities.

I stay with Apple for the quality of hardware and software and the integration of my phone, iPad Pro (I’ll hang on to my 10.5 for at least a couple more years), and MacBook Pro. I don’t have to ante up for the highest specs to do what I need and enjoy the experience.

To me, one phone is not “greater” than the other. How it works out for the individual is all that matters.

So, what are you going on about? Just enjoy your phone and those that have the Xr will do the same! You been harping in these threads for days justifying and trying to convince yourself and others you made the right choice. We get it. LOL

LOL you have been doing the exact same thing the last few days LMAO especially everytime i give my opinion about the differences in screen quality which i might add the gap gets even bigger the more i play with and compare the phones. Also I don’t need to justify or convince myself owning a iphone max and that’s a certainty , i know i bought the right phone. But hey you’re right i’ll enjoy my phone and i hope you enjoy yours

Better LTE, most likely more ram, stainless steel construction, pressure sensitive screen. Just a few more differences
The XS is only better on high frequency band 4. The XR is better on nearly every other LTE band.

I don't understand these XR > XS/XS > XR threads. Short answer: no, XR isn't better than the XS. But neither is the XS superior to the XR.

They're two different phones, aimed at different audiences. For some customers, the XS will be the right choice. For others, it's the XR. Personally, the XR is the device for me, because I value battery life (more than most), and the XR's concessions (mostly the display, camera, & 3d touch) don't bother me. Also, I like the size and price.

But others will take the XS, because of its superior display, telephoto lens, and/or 3d touch. Or maybe just because it's smaller. They're all valid reasons.

Neither choice is wrong. They're both great phones.

Agreed. I might add that the XR might be the best choice for those that live or work in low signal areas where LTE Bands 12,13,14,17 and/or 71 predominate.

That is the biggest load of rubbish i have read to date on this thread. I have compared my nephew’s XR signal quality on those bands compared to my Max and they are both the same signal strength.

Not better LTE except Band 4.

One what Band and in what setting?

We use 12,13,14. We don’t use 17 or 71. The phones signal is on par with a xr , and android phones like the Note 9 that i own.

Laboratory testing shows the XR has a superior antenna to the XS on most bands. I’m glad the XS works for you, but it doesn’t have a superior antenna in most low signal situations.

Read Bugeye’s post above. He has a source of different info compared to yours. Not to mention user experience like my own. I suggest getting a Xs alongside your Xr for testing and then post your results.

Considering band 4 is the most popular band in the U.S. there’s a significant difference.. Plus there are sources that dispute your claims about the other bands also:

https://appleinsider.com/articles/1...lar-signal-strength-thanks-to-better-antennas

Those tests are all band 4. Look at the graph titles.

Also, almost every carrier uses 600 or 700 MHz bands in for low signal areas.

You are failing to understand the most important point. User experience. I live in an area where signal isn’t the greatest. Both the xr and xs max have the same signal performance.

Great! But some posters are claiming the XS has a better antenna. There is plenty of evidence, including your own experience, that shows the claim isn’t true except under very limited circumstances.

Well my experience is they are about the same. My bedroom has one bar of signal on my iphone max. When a xr is in my room it also has one bar of signal. Download speeds are similiar for the band it’s on. It’s what i’d expect. Why would Apple but a lesser quality antenna in either phone. It’s the most important part of a phone.

I was a little worried about this as the (software) portrait mode on my Pixel 2 XL worked great when taking pictures of (full) beer glasses (Even had a couple of breweries ask if they could use my photos). But I was happy to find out Xs works great as well -- once I got used to it's quirks (you have to be farther away than the Pixel 2) and the blur slider lets me adjust to get rid of many artifacts.

That is some magic beer floating in mid air. Was this done with portrait mode?

A lot of people prefer Xr portrait mode as its wide angle vs the zoomed in Xs

A lot of people prefer that you can use more than just people in portrait mode on Xs vs Xr

XR portrait mode is the feature I miss most in XS: wider angle and much better light at night. Seems Halide app is the solution both for XR, because allows non-humans portraits, and for XS, but not sure if it allows to use wide camera for portraits. Anyone could confirm this?

Couldn't Apple produce the non-human portrait ability with software like the one-lens Pixel?

sigh. dont understand these threads. XR is a very good phone, but XS/max can do whatever XR does and more. there is honestly no debate unless you get headaches from oled. if you tell me 6.1" is the perfect size and 5.8" isnt, you deserve to be shot.

the only real question is if the "compromises" are worth $250

The Xs/max can do gigabit LTE but most people can’t access those kind oh speeds so in real life it doesn’t matter.

A simpler way to explain it so it's easy for people who have difficulties undeerstanding this : Whether a car has a top speed of 230 or 250, it's doesn't matter coz most people will not reach those speeds.

THIS!

I liked the XR, great screen for LCD, great "edge to edge" design, super fast, nice camera...

BUT, at the end of the day, was big and heavy in pockets, hands... maybe an ipad is better for games, movies, etc etc... iPad mini perhaps.

The 7 and 8 feel so natural now for me, the XR feels like forced.
Felt the same.. was keeping an eye and on multiple visits to the apple store.. XR is a big and heavy phone

X and XS feels premium and handy af !!

Decisions now.. 7, 8 or X !!
