I have been following this thread since day one. And I have been following similar threads about yellow screens every year since the debut of the iPhone X. Two questions I would like to ask here.

1. Is it true that most screens (the slightly yellow to moderately yellow) do become whiter over time? (Of course I am discounting the extremely yellow ones).

2. Do OLED screens have an inherent tendency to yellow for a technical reason? I would think so, because otherwise, if as is claimed that Apple relaxes tolerances to meet demand, then there should be many blueish screens too. By the law of averages, if tolerances are relaxed, then there should be both yellow and blue screens i.e. either side of pure white. But I don't read of anyone complaining about blueish screens. Hence my question.
1. I don't think so.
2. I don't think so either.

I also have a iPhone X with excellent white balance. But I seem to remember the screen was a bit yellow when it was new. Now it is perfect.
Well, I don't really know if over time the display will get blueish but definitely, my iPhone 12 PM can't produce the same level of bright whites as my iPhone X. I don't recall seeing my iPhone X yellower with TT and NS off.

At this time I think this was intentional by Apple or the technology used for the display panels isn't able to produce the same bright whites as previous models. So, is a matter of getting used to it or not. Either way, it is not acceptable when paying 1,200 for a "Pro" device.

I'm not sure how that can be the case when I had an OLED iPhone X with normal whites.. This could be intentional, there might be a technical reason perhaps but regardless, it's possible to have OLED with normal whites.

has it been determined whether the glow issue of not perfect blacks is LG or Samsung specific or both for the bad ones that are affected ?

I know thats a separate problem than the yellow tint, but curious

in my case both were Samsungs, the first one was G9Q and now G9N.

The screens are capable of showing good whites, you can see it if you activate TT and it gives it direct sunlight or some clear light. The screen becomes much whiter.

awful

is the tint in the destroyed blacks reflective of how yellow the screen is as well?

I’m noticed that white is slightly warmer than my 11 Pro, and much warmer than Xs.
Greenish screen only when booting, and flickering is present during watching that black screen video on yt.
SN is G0ND
42 week (October)

Mine SN is G0ND, production week 49 (Dec). Compared to my previous (F2LDN, week 45) the green flickering is almost gone. At boot, I can see a very dim green flash but not as yours. If I set the brightness to 10% I can see the rest of the screen (full-black background) dimly lighted wish is not normal for OLED panels, but not when the brightness is above that setting. What is weird is that we have the same OLED panel. 🤔

Still thinking on this. 12PM Graphite. My serial is F2LD. I don’t have any of the black issues. Just the weirdly green gray issue.

I also purchased a Pacific Blue 12PM for another member of my family at launch and her screen is perfect. No black issues. Grays identical to my old 11PM.

Do I join the lottery? Deal with the weird grays? I could wait till January 8th or longer since I’m on the upgrade program.

Just picked up a G0ND week 48 (I don't think this makes any difference) 12 PM Blue, same yellow tint no difference at all from my current one.

Same. Got week 48 yesterday 12 Pro Max G0PDR. Worse than my current one in terms of warmth.
Got 3 last week - 2X week 46 and 1X week 47. All worse than my one now.
My one I’m using is week 41 I got on launch. Now went through 7 Pro Maxes and it is still the best but still warmer than 11 Pro Max. Visited MANY shops and today compared to 1 Mini, 2 12s, 2 Pro Maxes and 1 Pro - all warm/yellow and WORSE than my 41.

Yeah, this really is annoying with such an expensive device. I might try one more in a week or two.

Someone in the jailbreak community needs to crack the ability to adjust whitepoint. The functionality exists in OSX..bring it to iPhone

Agree. once upon a time there was a great RGB calibrator on Cydia.

Forgive my little OT: do the optimized charge works in your device? My 12PM is pretty slow to learn my habits. I change overnight every night at the same hour with a 5w charger. Is this the problem? Or that I end my day with 50% of battery still charged??

I have decided to try out my luck at the screen lottery, unfortunately managed to get a yellow screen twice. Even the latest phones of Samsung are affected by this issue. I'd just set a color filter and call it the day, it's a waste of time to keep exchanging for the perfect phone that you would keep for a maximum of two to three years.

On the subject of the yellow screen; Apple told me that they're investigating those green and yellow tinted screens. An employee of Apple showed me internal documents on their iPad stating that Apple is looking into the issue. It's a widespread issue, so chances of getting a fix is pretty high. Pretty much every iPhone 12 that I've looked at has this issue.

How much warmer than your 11 PM?

Did it specifically mention that they're investigating the yellow tint or just the green that is visible when it should be black? As much specific detail as you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
