thank you! still a bit warmer but not so much as stock device probably.
I owned a 11 pro max and befoe selling i compared it many times with 12.
The difference was day and night.

Another question. You just use the phone with the max brightness for 2 weeks when you need to use it, without forcing the device to stay on, correct?
Both phones were on full brightness the 12 is brighter, in the photo it does look a touch warmer. In person it just looks like a brighter better screen. Correct on usage.

Don’t bother doing this, wasting your time, the screen didn’t go from yellow to a cooler color, after a short period of time your eyes adapt to the warmer tones, you’ll only be blinding yourself and killing your battery by doing this.
Im a photographer and skin tones didn't match from color calibrated display to iPhone 12, after doing this the color is within 5%. So I got used to it ? Yeah ok

Again guys this is the 2nd phone that does this, I have access to 3 iPhone 12 pro max's. My friend , my brother and mine, at launch my friends phone was the yellowest. He works highway construction, he's on his phone practically all day inside a truck. His brightness is all the way up because of daylight, he's phone changed first which made me think about the full brightness theory. I tried it, a week later it was not as yellow but not the same as his, 2 weeks go by and its pretty close to his mean while my brothers phone is still yellow. Look I can't explain why it does this, I know it doesn't make sense but it works.

Interesting observation. It suggests there’s a small chance the theory I posted earlier about uneven subpixel degradation on Pentile OLED (the green subpixels degrading faster) might be correct.

OLED panels are very strange in the fact that they can change over time so I wouldn't doubt yours got less yellow the more you used it. Seen plenty of evidence on this when researching OLED laptops in terms of color banding etc.

My phone either turned less yellow over time or I'm just used to it. Either way, it looks fine now.

We're into February now, so I suspect this thread will die down in the coming weeks just like it did around this time with the 11 Pro series last year and we'll start it again as soon as the new phones get released next September.

Another year that Apple completely ignores this issue. And they will continue to ignore it until tech sites and YouTubers find the courage to call out Apple on this.

With luck, the green tint issue might be fixed via software at some point during the spring/summer, just like the 11 Pro was fixed.

Great to know that green raised black? was fixed via software!

Thanks for your explanation!
Just a little worry about the battery possible damage with max brightness

Just taken it out of the box and the screen is noticeably yellow. Are they all like this

Edit it looks much more natural with truetone off and less yellow. Why is this ?

Following this thread I’ve previously compared my iPhone 12 mini’s screen to the iPhone X, and recently the iPhone 8 Plus. From my experience it’s all about True Tone. With True Tone turned off on my Mini the screen looks whiter than the screens on the X and on the 8 Plus (with True Tone turned on), however, with True Tone turned off on all the devices, the 12 mini definitely has a 'warmer' screen. Personally I don’t have a problem with the screen at all... and I think that most people don’t...

Okay so the first character of my SN are 'FD9DL' DL is the date code so that should be November 2021. Considering I've only just received the phone should I be pushing for one that has a newer date or doesn't it matter to much? My screen actually doesn't look to bad with truetone off

All of the 12 screens are a little warmer by design. Is what it is. If your screen is otherwise nice and uniform keep it. No need to look for problems. Manufacture date having something to do with it is a myth. I just received a 12 Mini two days ago made in November and it’s perfect.

Anyone here from EU area who recently ordered 6.1" 12 Pro that is shipped from Netherlands warehouse managed to get unit that is manufactured in 2021? I have tried few and I seem to be getting units that are build just before Xmas even each time there is a wait for a new shipment to warehouse, so they should be fresh units. I was just hoping there would be some change after busy season. I'm not having issue with yellow screen but with uneven tint and darker bottom of the screen.

Another thing, I thought OLED screens supposed to really pop in terms of color. I'm finding the iphone 12 pro mini a little washed out even at maximum brightness, is this just how they are? Comparing it to my redmi note 8 pro for example seems a lot more vibrant at max brightness, I think that uses IPS

If you want to play the panel lottery go for it. We all spend hard earned money on these very expensive devices and shouldn't accept lesser quality. Can always order another and return the one you like the least. For what it's worth, my Mini looks just as vibrant and identical to my 12 Pro Max.

Well the thing is I'm not really sure what's normal vibrancy and what isn't. Overall the phone screen seems pretty uniform. I do have some color shift when the phone is moved in my hands, but I think this is normal for OLED?

I'm trying to figure out why truecolor makes my screen look so yellow also

I had 3 attempts at getting a Mini with a good screen. First was washed out and very yellow (similar to what you were describing), second was better on both fronts but had an extremely severe off-axis color shift, third was like the first. All were returned.

Every time each Mini was compared directly to my iPad, iPhone X, my wife’s 11, or any MacBook screen it looked much worse. Ultimately, I couldn’t justify the cost for what amounted to a downgraded screen. A real shame, as the form factor was a huge upgrade for my usage.

Overall, it does not appear that anyone posting in this thread has shared evidence of a perfect Mini screen. It was enough to convince me to wait for the 13 and see what improvements are made.

I do notice some color shift when the phone is tilted in my hands but I'm yet to have ANY phone that doesn't experience this. I think it's important not to be to picky, only truetone makes my screen look kinda yellow but this might even be the desired effect for how truetone supposed to work

I've got a replacement arranged for next week. I'm going to replace it once and then I'll return it if the replacement isn't good either

While I don't know if manufacture date has anything to do with it, there is a noticeable variance between displays, and that seems to be the case every year.

I returned my 12 because it looked horrible, and I kept my iPhone X, which had a perfect screen. Last week I sent in my iPhone X for service because of a speaker issue, and today I got a replacement iPhone X with inconsistent brightness -- the brightness isn't the same from top of bottom. So just because you have a 12 that looks good and is acceptable doesn't mean that everyone else has one that looks like yours. My new X looks nothing like my old X. It's very frustrating that Apple doesn't have better quality control than this.

Of course. I was merely sharing my personal experience and thoughts. I found it particularly interesting that the iPhone 8 Plus with its LCD screen looked so yellow with True Tone turned on, as I got the impression from this thread that it was an OLED only thing... The person who had the phone didn’t care, and I think that most people don’t 🤷‍♂️ Because if it truly was a major issue for most people, I’m sure it would be front page news all over the place, no? So, to paraphrase your post, I’d say that just because you have an issue with your screen, doesn’t mean that everyone else has an issue with theirs.

True Tone yellows the screen, Nightshift yellows it even more. Which I have no issue with IF that's what you desire. But as it stands there appears to be a lot of iPhone 12's with much yellower screens than others with those features turned off where they should have been much more neutral from the factory.

Screens should have either been calibrated cooler this being the case, or Apple should have added a color calibrator into iOS (not a color overlay) to adjust the colors to a more neutral tone PRIOR to enabling nightshift or True Tone.

As it stands, if you edit a photo to look good on the iPhone it looks really bad on a calibrated monitor. With the camera and screen being some of the top major selling points on this very expensive piece of hardware - there really needs to be some proper QC standards where it comes to display accuracy.

My wife's phone right now makes everything look like a Micheal Bay movie where everyone look like they've been doused in Trumps fake tan. Thats with TT and NS turned OFF.

Awaiting a response currently with Apple on this as its with their service centre right now where we checked the device against alot of other displays and it is obviously "tinted".

Here is a photo of my new Mini vs 12 Pro Max. No green tint or piss yellow screens. Perfect enough to my eyes and both look nearly identical.
