It will never be fixed via software. This has been going on since iPhone 4 / 4s.

Actually it has been going on since the first iPhone in 2007:

"My iphone has a brighter display with much crisper whites and good grays, while hers is slightly dimmer with whites that are warmer/yellowish and browner grays."

December 18, 2007: "there really are big difference in screen quality"

So this had been a thing?

I tried iOS 15 Beta 1 and all the problems of yellow tint screen are resolved. On top of that True Tone works !

How about raised blacks, because for me hdr is broken where it's gray at every brightness level in every lighting environment. Tried it on youtube, Netflix, and Disney+ all the same.

I'm sorry but I've no problem of raised black with my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

Haven’t looked at this thread for a while. With the time that has passed with these issues and the problems that still persist, it is fair to say these screens are exactly the way Apple intended and if they are like this on the 13, my Xs is here to stay (along with iOS 14).

my gf got a red 64gb iPhone 12 the other day and it's a tad warmer than my golden goose 12 pro but not piss yellow, and uniform

something I'd be happy with, especially if I didn't have 12 pro as a reference. 100% auto brightness off, its quite a bit brighter but auto brightness on and 100% even in well lit settings, the 12 almost looks a hair brighter its weird

I think she won the screen lottery. at a glance black levels look good too, no green tint blow out

hope Is still out there! but its unfortunate that this is still such a big common problem

I went to Bestbuy for something and said why not visit the Apple Section with the 12 pro max, 12 pro, 12 and mini and they all had a more yellow tint than mine and all had raised blacks.

I got a 12 Pro this week (I know it’s only three months out from the new phones but some other timing lined up.) Coming from my X, the screen looks noticeably and immediately much worse. I’ve heard the yearly rumblings of panel lottery and whatnot but had no idea there were widely observed issues this year specifically. It was bad enough that I looked it up and came upon this thread. Can maybe try and get some comparison photos later today. Marched right back to the apple store and every display model looked the same or even worse, so it’s definitely either an intrinsic property of the panels they used this year or, even more likely(?), the way they choose to calibrate the displays now. I haven’t gotten used to it in 3 days of desperately trying to focus on anything else… the phone may be going back :/

Is it yellow, green tint?

oh yea, thats about the disparity between my 12 pro and my gf's regular 12 with auto brightness off

from the tint of grey's on dark mode, I feel like her's is LG but I'd be happy with either if I weren't comparing directly

2 winners

its nice to know some 12 pros are actually brighter. lots of 12 pro's at the store are identical brightness to 12 lol

Yes. The white point is warm which I don’t mind actually, it’s the fact that greys look *so* green. This forum is one of the worst offenders actually. The contrast is also notably lower.

I’ve never once had such a show stopping issue with an iPhone, but it’s… real bad. I’d happily take the LCD display from my work 8 Plus levels of bad.
