hi guys, I got to test the new iPhone 13 and 13 pro. Compared with my iPhone 12 pro I immediately realized that the screen of the new ones is much brighter and the colors are perfect and do not tend to yellow at last. the front camera has also been improved while the rear Zoom camera seems to me to have deteriorated. IPhone 13 pro can reach 15x while iPhone 12 pro can reach 10x digital maximum. I put them both at 10X and in the iPhone 12 pro took a much sharper picture, maybe some updates are needed for line 13 but the zoom has definitely deteriorated, for me, at the moment. however, the screen is no longer yellow as before

Got my iPhone 13 Pro and migrated the stuff from iPhone 12 Pro. Direct comparison and I think the screen is as yellow as the one from the 12 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

the contrast especially of axis is definitely much better at the 13. if it is cooler than only by a little amount. True Tone is off on both devices.

A month ago I was in the store and they checked my 12 Pro but said everything was in tolerance so I think this is the new normal. Eg the XS max from my wife is way cooler calibrated.

Since I complained here about the iPhone 12 Pro Max and the pi** yellow screen, I now want to mention that apple did a good job at this one (iPhone 13 Pro Max). It’s maybe slightly more yellow in some conditions as my xs max but almost not noticeable. Also True Tone is somehow less „aggressive“.

Sound promising. I was looking at all the reviews in YouTube, trying to see if the history repeats. Somehow, I'm confident of receiving an acceptable screen this time. Last year after three defective screens, I decided to wait for the 13. Now, I'm patiently waiting for my new IP13PM to arrive.

Did anyone get the regular 13/13 mini? I'm still thorn between the 13 mini and pro. With the Pro I'm sure that I'll get the quality Samsung panel, but with mini it's a gamble between LG and Samsung if I'm right.

Tru Tone or not, it’s odd that two screens can look so different even with Tru Tone on. According to Apple, they use “advanced sensors” to adjust the color of your display, but two phones can look totally different under the same light with Tru Tone on. It seems that Tru Tone just adjusts the warmth a little. It’s not a very sophisticated system. So if you have a yellow screen to start, you get an incredibly yellow/brown screen with Tru Tone turned on. If you have a cool blue screen to start, Tru Tone doesn’t make your screen very yellow at all. The end results are totally different.

The difference in screen color between my 12 and XS is dramatic, even with Tru Tone on. The 12 looks extremely yellow in comparison.

I just got the 13 mini, and it is a dastardly yellow color with the TrueTone on, compared to my old iPhone 8 (with the TrueTone on). It's beyond me that Apple would think this level of yellow is somehow true to life.

Edit: I returned to the store and compared my new Mini against several others on display, and they are all overly yellowish (with TrueTone on), so it must be intentional on Apple's part. I'll just keep TrueTone turned off. During this test, I also discovered that the "Auto brightness" setting in Accessibility (which is turned on by default) prevents the phone from reaching max brightness, even when you set the slider to 100%.

The 12 Pro was the only iPhone I’ve ever returned, and I’ve been buying them since the 3G. My new 13 Pro’s screen leans a little cool, but it’s a night and day difference from that 12 Pro in terms of color shift and contrast, and it’s more in line with what I expect from an iPhone screen. The 12 Pro I had was bad.

Here's my question: is Apple still producing iPhone 12? Any chance they begin to calibrate iPhone 12 screens in the same way as they do for iPhone 13, resulting in more accurate white?

Who wants some pictures? Unfortunately they aren't very good ones because my 12 Pro Max has really green screen and these are taken with SE (2016) and it really wants to adjust the pictures by 12PM being the neutral tone. So 13 Pro Max looks a bit pink here, but in real life is pretty close to the LCD of the SE. Way way way better than my 12PM is.

Here they are without True Tone. Brightness slider isn't equal because 13PM is dimmer for some reason. But when you flood notch with flashlight it goes noticeably brighter. Then I let both of then drop to whatever they thought was correct brightness for my dim room.

Here's True Tone on. 12PM True Tone is ridiculous.

And here's not how they shift. 13PM stays closer to its dead on tone but gets a bit dimmer, 12PM turns cooler and even greener than normally. Once again SE decided that 12PM should be the neutral one so 13PM looks awful.

Blue light filter. Read up on Samsung OLED display technology during the last few years since the XS Max. That should answer why newer panels are not as white as before.

How about the green tints in dark room when viewing certain dark greys ? @LFC2020 tagged you here as he mentions something you said also.

With True Tone off dark mode settings don't really have any green, this forum has tiiiniest bit of green. True Tone on and settings have a tiny hint of green and this forum is a bit more than settings. 12 Pro Max is noticeably greener in each of these scenarios.

For a 13 pro trade-in does my 12 pro have to be fully paid off the get the full value because I only paid for half of it.

I can see some pink blacks in a dark room but I can’t tell yet if that will bother me. I’ll test more this evening. So far tho, the 13 Pro has a much cooler and better calibrated screen to my eye.

I have the same on my 13 Max Pro. Top part of the screen in the dark with dark mode enabled is showing red. During the day it’s fine and cool. Not sure what I’ll do yet.
