I can see some pink blacks in a dark room but I can’t tell yet if that will bother me. I’ll test more this evening. So far tho, the 13 Pro has a much cooler and better calibrated screen to my eye.
I'd take the 12 going on those photos. pink yuk

True Tone on, my 13 pro max is less yellow than off. Seems backwards but I’ll take it!
I’m an idiot. I was outside testing. Inside it’s still yellow with True Tone on. I’ll keep it off for sure. Great screen this year for me though.

13 Pro checking in. Still relatively warm for me, but… acceptable. Pretty damn similar to the 12 Pro I returned, but I’m not about to play that game again and I don’t believe the variance is so high unit-to-unit that it would matter. They definitely just calibrate warmer than they used to.

I will add that I see a couple of minor issues for us OCD folks to potentially latch onto though (even though I’ll try and ignore them as best I can, myself.)

For one, I can absolutely see the refresh rate changing during the slowdown of a strong inertial scroll. There's a very minor but noticeable "hitch" when it changes to 60, and then another at each interval down. You have to be looking for it, but it's there. Might try and record it in slow-mo on another iPhone lol.

two- the gaps between the front glass and chassis are noooooot quite symmetrical on either side. My old 12 Pro had this, and my friend’s new 13 PM had this as well so we’re three for three. It’s definitely within manufacturing tolerance, likely to give just a tad bit of wiggle room for the glass panel for drop resistance.

That’s life I guess. Time to set this forum down and go back to enjoying my new phone, though. ;)

Me neither. It’s all good. I’m even loving the yellow True Tone. It’s really appeasing to my eyes at night.
Here he is, finally take the gloves off 😂 can’t get use to True Tone, post some pics of your phone if you can, these silver iPhones are rare to see in the wild on macrumors. 😂

I’ll do it on in the other thread. Got cut short when I saw a ding in my stainless steel frame out of the box. And that was even whilst wearing cotton gloves for the unboxing. 🤣

I’ve always felt like OLED color temp shifts in general with brightness level. It’s always looked slightly warmer at low brightness to me.

Part of the problem with this entire situation is that the human brain is extremely fickle and prone to biases. Even the young and spry can’t entirely trust their senses to be accurate. I’m certain many folks complaining of yellow displays are constantly looking at other non-calibrated screens (computer monitors, TVs) with wildly varying white points, that accentuates any existing predisposition they might have when looking at their iPhones.

To be clear, I say this is someone who follows this issue closely every year and experience it myself. I also have been medicated for OCD my entire life, and so I’m not trying get down on anyone who is genuinely stressed by this. I’m right there with you all.

Given the amount of pro features the pro phones have gotten, it would be really cool to see them implement full user side calibration of the displays. A lot of photographers even like to edit on their phones because of the tactile, responsive nature of moving sliders on a small display. They would really love to be able to calibrate to an exact D65 I’m sure.

You might not charge your phone for a week @Limeybastid if you leave it at 60hz 😂 took mine off the charger at 5:41am, currently 7:37pn, using it non stop, just hit 10 hours usage, I’ve still got 27% left 😳

That’s amazing. Any reason you don’t have the 120hz on? I just took my phone off the charger around 5:45am, I’m going to use it like normal and see if it’s better than my 12 Pro was but I’m keeping the High refresh rate on.

My bad, I do have 120hz turned on, can’t use the phone without it, it’s amazing, corrected my post.

It’ll definitely be better than your 12 pro max, I had the same phone as well. 👌

Not seeing a dramatic difference in brightness or color temperature here, even factoring in the 12 pro max has a tempered screen protector installed. Didnt to my eyes either beyond what the camera is picking up.

auto brightness off for both, both iOS 15.

if anything 12PM might've been a hair brighter to my eyes (in the pic it looks like 12PM is quite a bit brighter but they were close)

Maybe the AT&T employee's 12PM is a good one

Also looks like the 13PM has more flicker since its picking up those wavy lines whereas doesn't on the 12PM. Eye fatigue could be a concern for some

Not sure that test really helps, as the yellow tint was usually referred to as an “aggressive True Tone” issue.

Across the eight iPhone 12s that I tested over the past year (I’m done and happy with a new XS Max) the yellow screen was an issue w:

True Tone: on
Auto-Brightness: on

If A-B was off, color filter correction and manually increased brightness would be enough for me. If TT was off, wouldn’t find it too yellow anyway.

I think it would be great if folks with their new iPhone 13 could also report their thoughts with both TT and A-B on.

The battery on this device is reminding me of a Samsung device I once owned that has a 7000mAh battery 😂 it’s just iMazing darling. 😀
lol, definitely last 2 days with moderate use, not sure if I'm noticing a bit of red tint at low brightness. 🤔 hmmm.

Maybe I'm tripping, really hate oled, hope they switch to micro oled once it's ready.

also a lot more colour shift when moving my phone, compared to my 12 pro max.

Anyone else noticing when in light mode, off axis colour shift is a lot more aggressive on the 13 Pro Max compared to the 12 pro max.
