put my 13 pro max next to a 12 pro max on same brightness, 12 pro max definitely brighter. 🤦‍♂️

My 13 pro max also has a red tint from time to time 🤦‍♂️

Not sure if I want to play the screen lottery game 🤦‍♂️ @Limeybastid @TheYayAreaLiving 🤦‍♂️

keep it or return it?

In these pictures the 13 pro max looks better and cooler. Have you turned off the auto brightness?

Auto brightness off, night shift off, true tone off, Siri to set brightness, think I’ll be turning my OCD off next. 🤦‍♂️😂

It should be brighter..that’s weird! I’m confused about updating or not my 12 pro max for the warm tint of the display 🤦🏼‍♀️

Bit of talk going around that the 12 pros from last year are definitely brighter than the 13 pros, maybe it’s because of the new 120hz displays. 🤔🤷‍♂️

honestly it’s not a massive difference, 120hz is worth upgrading for. 👌

Homestly it’s not a massive driffrnece, 120hz is worth upgrading for. 👌
Someone says it’s brighter, maybe there are different displays…I mean with different calibration, or it could depends on the white tint that seems to tend to gray that make it looks less bright? I don’t know what to think

There are differences in brightness with the same display model. I had four different 12 mini last year, they all had slightly different screen brightness and tint. And you always get reports here from people with a particularly dull or tinted display. The display characteristics are effectively spread over a gaussian distribution or something.

What is the cheapest way to externally measure the white point of an OLED display? Colorimeter? I’ve never been a fan of the accessibility “color filters” previously but a blue one at the lowest intensity for me this year is looking… stellar, to be honest. I just want to make it’s actually closer to “correct” and when judging colors of photos and whatnot I won’t be making them actively worse by using color filter, which I’ve never used and stuck to in the past. Filter looks way closer to my lcd monitor with factory calibration. Also looks way closer to my X that I loved and never had any yellow shenanigans with. Im mostly just worried about it ****ing up colors *other* than white with such a strong dose of blue.

All these issues could be easily resolved if Apple used a decent color calibration tool which would be user accessible. Huawei has had it for years.

From yellow to green tint, now red tint, low brightness, stuff this, I’m going back to my Nokia 5110. 😂
It’s funny how a slight tune calibration can give that appearance. The panel on the s21u doesn’t look pink. But as soon as I tweak color filter on iPhone it then makes the s21u look pink tinted. It’s all normal. All good. Lol. Just the pesky frame gouge is still on my mind. Not sure why as I don’t see it with case on.

I'd say just keep it
Yep, can’t be bothered playing this screen lottery game, haven’t done it before, ain’t doing it now.

Ain’t even that bad in person, I’m finding the off axis color shift to be more aggressive this year, the slightest movement, triggers it.

You’re going to hate me for saying this. My first s21u had this issue. Even 3 degrees would shift color. I think I have a video of it I can post link.

Plus it's a hassle to set everything up again, especially making a trip and all that.
