Think his confused with how these screens should behave, 800 nits vs 1000 nits.

You shouldn’t have to turn on auto brightness and go outside so you can have a brighter display.

iPhone 11/12 pro max, shouldn’t be brighter than than a 13 pro max, even with auto brightness disabled on both.

Most likely wait until my store has refurbs available and swap mine out.

fairy muff.

Hey, I thought this thread was about screen *tint* and not brightness ;)

Would hate to see it locked after 283 pages for going off topic.

Nah mate, it’s typical OLED luck of the draw. Sometimes you get a green, red, yellow, dark panel.

Overrated technology if you ask me, hopefully micro led replaces it.
Yep, but I Know Micro Led will have huge problems with the individual's backlights don't turn off. ;)

If Apple added a color calibration feature, 90% of these issues would be resolved.
Even an extremely basic color calibration feature would solve it. I almost feel like we should be spending our energy each year advocating for that instead of continuing the perfect panel quests :p

Yep It's a win-win for the consumer because they don't have to switch phones and Apple doesn't have to exchange, they will save billions in exchanges.

I think you may be overestimating the amount of people that care enough to go through that exchange process (despite our nerd outcry every year.) Still a net positive. They could even bury it in the accessibility settings if they don’t want people to use it accidentally or whatever.

Seriously? Pro tip, live a little. 🤣
Speaking of filters, I had another crazy idea tonight. Even at its lowest intensity, the blue color filter definitely makes the display cool to the point of visible inaccuracy. So… I added another layer to the craziness by enabling the blue filter, and then offsetting its cool tint with Night Shift- but Night Shift carefully dialed in through the settings where you can decrease its intensity. The result is that I’ve achieved seemingly more granular control by making the display much cooler, and then *slightly* warmer again. Surprisingly, given the multi-layered shenanigans, it didn’t appear to mess with color and contrast ratio too bad, and got me ever so closer to the Goldilocks 65K white point.

Tomorrow I will compare to my “golden sample” iPhone X that’s perfectly white and see if I can’t damn near match it by playing with the sliders for 10 min.

I’ve done that also. Meaning used color filter plus night shift at it’s minimum setting but enabled nonetheless. Seems nice, but Trutone is still off here.

To add to the OCD in here, open this bad boy up in a dark room or in your car at night. Red tint on the top half for me 😂
