@Limeybastid lucky I didn’t buy the new iPad mini, I was this close to pulling the trigger, it’s even dimmer and more yellow than the iPad mini 5 🤦‍♂️😂 Tim Cook is really paying peanuts for these displays 😂

Anyway, at least indoors, no way I can reach maximum brightness with auto brightness on in accessibility (no torchlight involved). It needs to be off to easily get to higher brightness levels.

Then maybe for the absolute maximum brightness it needs to be on auto with a torchlight on the notch, I don't know

Australian summer isn’t far away, went outside this afternoon, my so called 1000 nits was barely visible in sunlight, I won’t be buying a iPhone on launch day again.

Well, mine isn't super bright in sunlight too. But now with auto brightness off it's definitely almost double brighter than my old iPhone 8. Kind of happy I don't have any 12 to compare it to 😆 I'd say just go to an Apple store or any other nearby store and compare yours to the demo units, if you can. I also don't think later units will be any different, Apple usually fixes thing with the next generation (was green glow at low brightness on the 12 ever really fixed?)

No need, if it’s dimmer than both a 11 and 12 pro max, most of the units in store will be same.

it’s luck of the draw if you end up getting a phone with a brighter display.

Definitely panels out there that aren’t up to standards.

The only way to achieve full brightness is with auto brightness enabled.

The slider at maximum will not achieve full brightness in any scenario. Full brightness is only achieved as an automatic override above the slider when your phone is in a bright environment. This is algorithm based and may vary from model to model.

I'm surprised this needs repeating so many times.

Back on topic, my 13 is a touch cooler. The warmth is less green which is making a HUGE difference to the pleasantness of the display and it looks nicely saturated and contrasty now, whereas my 12 pro's were washed out looking. I'm happy.

Then can you explain to me why my 13 pro max is dimmer than the previous 2 models

Yes, but indoors auto brightness will also limit the brightness achieved with the slider at max level. This is why my 13P indoors was dimmer than my iPhone 8. Only disabling auto brightness it became brighter with the slider at max. It still wasn’t at the maximum brightness possible, as you say, but that wasn’t what I was trying to achieve. With auto brightness the brightness with the slider maxed out is dynamic

Maybe. Only noticed it when I was driving at night with the maps app and some of the map was reddish Grey instead of normal grey. Screenshot and zoomed in and yep redishhhh
Wait, you won't see the reddish in a screenshot

Mine is slightly reddish on the right side at low brightness, but can pass quite unnoticed

I meant I screenshot my maps app and zoomed in so the grey was all one gradient and there weren’t any bars or street lines or anything and then opened that up full screen and saw the uniformity on my phone screen itself.
Nice! Mines pretty bad

Now after seeing a few iPhone 13s and several 12s, I can say 12s are on a bit greener side and 13s are on a bit redder side.

13s generally appear to be a tad bit cooler.

@LFC2020 My friend, don’t worry. Apple will surely send you the brightest phone they can find - it’ll be piss yellow of course, but brighter than you’ve ever seen
Not holding my breath, might take matters into my own hand later on down the track, smash my screen and get it replaced at the apple store with apple care +. 😁😂 display mate need their eyes checked, best display 😂🤦‍♂️looks dimmed, grey, red hot garage.

I don't have my 13PM yet waiting on best buy... but I went in to an apple store today to check it out. the display was significantly cooler than my 12PM... Of course this was a store display phone, i don't know if they cherry pick those. On a side note the 120hz screen makes a huge difference.. I really thought it was going to be one of those gimmicky apple features that I barely notice, but wow it is really really noticeable.... one of those things you didn't know you needed until you get it. now I notice how jittery my 12PM screen is lol :p

I may have to compare my 13P to the display models. I’ve never noted much of an actual difference in years past, all looked too warm to me. But my 13P is definitely just so warm compared to my X that it’s still jarring 5 days into using it full time. I hate to start playing that swap game again, but this phone is otherwise so perfect that i could see myself happy with it for many years to come if I could just get a good screen.
