Original launch day 13 PM came with a defective wide angle lens. There's a visible linear line of dust about 1 mm thick that stretches across half the lens below the flat cover glass (someone correct me if my terminology is wrong). If sunlight hits it at the right angle, it shows up in pics.

I requested an AppleCare replacement and while the cameras are clean, there is a very obvious yellowness to the display compared to display iPhones in the Apple Store at all brightnesses. I also realized that with dark mode at <25%, there is a terrible orange tint across the entire display that's very obvious. Currently waiting for my second AC+ replacement, but I can't help but feel like there will inevitably be something wrong with this one too. Why can't I just get a perfect phone on the first try...

FWIW build date for original iPhone was 8/23 and replacement is 8/30.

Sorry that happened to you. I would have return the iPhone and requested to get a brand new unit at store if it was available.

These oled panels are more trouble than their worth, wonder if we’ll have the same problem when apple switch to micro led. 🤔

How do you find the build date?

Don’t have a PC, this 3utools safe?
You don't need that tool to find out the rough build date, I think. Just head to analytics data and look for the date of the very first entry. This is the time the new iPhone was installed / fired up in factory for the first time.

I confirm the huge inconsistency of iPhone 13 displays.

I have seen almost 10 of them from the mini to the pro max and only 20% of them had a proper white display: some of them had a yellow tint, some looked darker, one had a pinkish hue (it was the pink one).

Test executed at max brightness with true tone and night shift off in a store.

I hope they will fix this soon, I am considering about getting a replacement later this year or early 2022 when production will have slowed down.

Hello, on my iPhone 12 when I watch a video on YouTube and also Netflix the borders start to become lighter and then dark as I watched, I wanted to know if it was doing this to you too? They are like small flashes as if the brightness adjusts but just at the edge level...while the ambient brightness does not change in the room...

Nah, no point, all the oled panels this year have a slight red tint, they are still yellow as well, anyone who says otherwise, isn't telling the truth, don't want to risk getting a non uniform display, since my greys are screen is very uniform and clean.
I hear ya and don't blame you. People on here have to come to terms with mass produced items that there is no "perfect" phone. If its not cosmetic, its a screen issue vice versa. While I do expect higher quality displays for what we are paying, this is what OLED is unfortunately. Soon enough, we will shift to Micro LED which is almost the best of both worlds but of course Apple will be one of the last to do it when that time comes. When it comes to these Apple displays you have to choose your battles wisely. More often than not, the phone you return is better off than what you just purchased or got as a replacement and the whole cycle starts again....rinse and repeat.

Spot on mate, also apple for some strange reason has started calibrating their display on all their devices to a warmer tone, I remember people losing their minds when they introduced the 16" MacBook Pro, even without True Tone they were complaining about the screen being more yellow than white, still nowhere near as bad as these garbage oled panels in the iPhone 12s and 13s.

Micro led can't come soon enough.

Or if they are going to continue to use these, at least give us temperature slider or something. I get it some people like the warmer tones but you also have those who don't. Its not a one size fits all kind of thing so we should have the flexibility but I know that's not Apples thing.

I decided to keep it as well. I don't want to risk receiving a worse display. Mine is a tad yellower (white temp.) than my previous X and my Series 6 Watch, but the screen is uniform, colors are well reproduced (no washed out), and blacks are deep. It kind of sucks paying for a high-end/pro device that is not 100% perfect. Well, nothing is 100% perfect, but you know what I mean.

I've really noticed the red shift toward the bottom of my display over the past few days and can't keep my eyes off of it now. I bought through Verizon though, so not sure how their exchange inventory looks yet or even how long I have to return it.

All OLED panels this year do not have a slight red tint. They are not still yellow as well. I am telling the truth. My iPhone 13 Pro Max is spot on.
