I was just contemplating that of all the Samsung phones I have owned in tandem with my iPhones, I’ve never had a bad screen or color imbalance (Note 8, Note 10, Note 20 Ultra, and Flip 3) while I have had a few bad Apple screens over the years. Don’t know if it’s a factory calibration issue, bad panel batches, insufficient inspection or what but it seems like something Apple needs to address as there seem to be many unhappy customers in this thread. My XR and 12 Pro Max both arrived with perfect screens, my issues were way back with 6 Plus and 6s Plus, one yellow and uneven, the other pink if I recall correctly. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a clear, even screen with dark blacks on flagship phones with these price tags. The screen is everything on these devices. Crossing my fingers my back-ordered Apple.com 13 PM has a great screen like my 12 PM. I will compare to 12PM and return if it’s inferior as this is an iffy upgrade in terms of new features and I was mainly upgrading for faster screen and Sierra Blue anyway.
FWIW I went into Best Buy to handle a 13 Pro yesterday in person (considering downsizing screen size and wanted to handle the phone and also see Sierra Blue in person) and I noticed the blacks seemed faded/washed out compared to my 12PM, even mentioned it to the salesperson. I hadn’t read or noticed this thread when I made this observation.
