Yes, I know. I waited until after the transfer to post this. I verified that True Tone was off by default and tested multiple brightness levels.

If thats the case then this is one of the worst examples I've seen. Great example of what we are talking about - not a subtle shift towards 6500K, but a straight up DEFECT.

That picture is during a transfer. Moving your data from one phone to another. Thats done during setup. You can't adjust any settings during that time. A picture of your home screen/settings AFTER the transfer is what you should post.

I have never had the warm screen issue on previous phones, so this was my year, I guess. TrueTone off. Not only is it grossly warm, it is incredibly dull and dark. At 100% brightness compared to my iPhone 11, it's about half as bright. I'm super disappointed.

Update: The phone (iPhone 12 Pro) was getting very hot on the MagSafe charger, so I unplugged it and turned the phone off entirely. Set it aside for about 15 minutes and turned it back on. I'm happy to say that the yellowing DID calm down quite a bit. However, the display remains much warmer with True Tone off and not quite as bright as my iPhone 11 Pro. Comparing several brightness levels, from 0 to 100 confirms this. Still disappointed, but not nearly as upset. And I hope the heat from the MagSafe thing was just unlucky also, and it doesn't get that warm every time.

I grabbed an Apple Store appointment for Monday, so I'll play with it for a few more days to see if it's something that will fix itself or become acceptable to my eyeballs.

alright guys sorry for the zoomed out potato quality that's somewhat out of focus but believe me this is the most representative of the color and brightness of my panel of the few I tried to capture. Off axis looks fantastic too.

OLED is really difficult to capture. with a screen protector on top may make it even harder.

I dont believe thats what's going on with these jaundice-y displays though since I trust people who aren't happy with theirs are seeing it with their own eyes as well.

I don't believe I would find a better unit if I had a small lot of them to pick between :)

Wow. I would be 100% stoked on life if I got that panel. Nice pull man.

Looks uniform. For the life of me I can't take a good photo of it with my 11 Pro Max. What is the best way? Happy to post one once I'm able to properly capture it.

The best way is to use night mode in a pitch dark room.

Best I could do, night mode didn't work, but standard photo mode worked. It looks uniform in person, very hard to take the photo.

Here's regular settings screen re: yellow tint. Looks great to me in person, same as 11 Pro Max. Slight rainbow effect is due to glass screen protector. Speaking of screen protectors, I'm SO GLAD flat screens are back. Finally it doesn't take an engineering degree to install a screen protector due to rounded edges and other BS.

Erica and I have a similar set of eyeballs, I swear, when it comes to nitpickiness.

I think she lost the lottery this time. but I look forward to her video, I wanna see what some people are getting

she's a MR user too, maybe she'll chime in (seldom does but never know... Lisa from MTR is as well)

My 12 Pro is also yellow, but I’ll probably keep it. I tried the lottery game with Apple before and it always ends up with me skipping an entire iPhone generation. I’m tired of using Android though.

I'd say thats closer to within normal tolerance vs the issue we are describing here. Im sure she will say it more accurate or some BS. But thats not what we are talking about here. We are talking about a defective level of yellow that does not match the display phones.

Also, I bet she could get one closer to her old phone if she played the swap game.

Unless the display in non-uniform, there’s probably no defect. One thing I noticed is that the coating on iPhone displays reacts differently to different lighting conditions. I noticed that today when I unboxed my 12 Pro in the car vs. using it at home. Therefore, I would assume that the lighting conditions at the Apple store play a role in making the display units whiter than they are. Either way, it’s a calibration issue, I’m 100% certain about that. If only Apple gave an option to change the colour temperature. 🤷🏻‍♂️

looks sweet 👌

So my 12 Pro is a hair warmer than my 11 Pro but just barely. I’m absolutely loving it so far, LOVE the slightly bigger screen. Not sure why but it feels immensely bigger. Love the redesign too, feels so good in the hand.

I think my eyes are playing tricks on me, the text on here seems blown up a bit. I think I just have to adjust to the slightly larger screen. I tried making the text smaller but then it seems too small. I’ll get used to it I’m sure!

I got my 128gb pacific blue and let me tell you. Damn near perfect display. Honestly. Best I’ve ever gotten on day 1. I’m very pleased as of now. Nice blue tint, less yellow then my moms 11 pro max. Very happy.

Your eyes are not playing tricks, the text size is different due to difference in scaling,

I received my 12 Pro this morning and instantly noticed the yellow tint. I was hoping turning off the True Tone would help but it didn’t.

I just came back from my local Apple store and surprisingly all 3 other Pro’s I checked were the same or worse (dimmer). Therefore I have decided not to play the screen lottery. I’ll see if I can get used to it in the next 13 days. If not, I’ll just return it.

Here is a pic comparing it to my wife’s XS (12 Pro on the left, XS to the right).

mentioned in the OP - launch day display phones will be yellow. Check back in3-4 days after all are swapped. Compare then.

If you can, all who have new and old phone handy, could you post comparison photos as others have? I know some are saying it's "barely" warmer, but having lived with several people over the years, I've learned senses can vary greatly from person to person. What might seem "barely" to some could seem quite a bit to others (and vice-versa).

My 12 Pro was much warmer at 100% brightness with true tone off than the 11 Pro, but it literally just got noticeably brighter right in front of my face, in the type of way iPhones change tones when changing settings with true tone (except true tone was off). So now it pretty much matches my 11 Pro. I'm hoping its just settling in because now its damn near brighter than my 11 Pro but just moments ago it was considerably warmer.

So I got my iPhone 12 pro 128gig blue in Canada. It has a yellow tint. But I can only compare it to a iPhone 8 Plus. I love rurally so can’t really get to Apple store.
