Did you check your iPhones WB?Incorrect. I recalibrated both my MacBook Pro and 4K display using a colorimeter yesterday for 6500K both of them look nothing like my 12 PM

I think we've kinda determined that the white point is pretty close to 6500k on these, its the lack of red/blue that gives it the yellow/green hue.
The 12's are around ~6300k-6400k. Tested this personally and multiple online tests (eg: Displaymate) show it's not 6500k.
Its generally something that has to be done panel to panel, as all are unique. Can this be changed with a software update?
So the screens on the 12s match the 11 series.
So given the info of Displaymate makes sense of what some people are sensing and makes me think it's intended by Apple. Those who say don't sense it maybe just a matter of their own personal perception but It's starting to be clear that the intended temperature is ~6300k-6400k whereas the 11's were 6500k.The 12's are around ~6300k-6400k. If almost everyone is getting the same, tweaking the base color seems that will give the same gradual improvement to every display regardless of their uniqueness and how they've been calibrated in factory imoIts generally something that has to be done panel to panel, as all are unique.
It’s not people just seeing a warmer screen, when dark mode is on, grey colors look green and yellow. The panels in the 12s look worse than 4-5 year old iPhone in certain use cases. 🤦♂️It's also consistent with people asking for replacements because of they sensing a warmer display and getting the exact same thing over and over again.
I'm not saying it's peoples imagination. I'm saying that some people might sense it, others notIt’s not people just seeing a warmer screen, when dark mode is on, grey colors look green and yellow. The panels in the 12s look worse than 4-5 year old iPhone in certain use cases. 🤦♂️
That conclusion aligns with the YouTube video from Erica if I’m not mistaken. I believe she addresses that in the video or in the comments to the video.I think we've kinda determined that the white point is pretty close to 6500k on these, its the lack of red/blue that gives it the yellow/green hue.
This is an intentional move by APPLE to preserve battery power. Not only is the screen yellow it’s not as bright. So given the info of Displaymate makes sense of what some people are sensing and makes me think it's intended by Apple. That, imo, opens the door for a software tweak
It doesn’t make sense for Apple to intentionally change to a nonstandard color temperature, unless it is caused by technical reasons, because it causes photos/videos to be displayed with inaccurate colors. In addition, the same yellow tint is also observed on Android models this year. Therefore it seems that this has to do with how OLED panels are currently produced and (possibly) factory-calibrated. As has already been speculated in this thread, it’s conceivable that it is a trade-off in order to meet certain brightness or energy efficiency targets. But it’s certainly not the case that Apple decided “let’s make the displays only 6350K this year”.So given the info of Displaymate makes sense of what some people are sensing and makes me think it's intended by Apple. Quietly adding the feature would be the logical thing to do, but Apple is not always logical in their actions. People complaining about yellow screens is not new, it just appears worse this year. But you think Apple will replace the screens of millions of phones? Hmm...I wonder which makes more sense for Apple, quietly adding a feature buried in settings that alleviates this problem, or admit this is a problem and start a screen replacement program. 🤔
So many people say that the 11 OLED didn't have these issues. Here is mine. Both photos full brightness, no true tone, taken by my V60. You can clearly see which is with color filters on and which is off. I think the 12 series are worse than this. Brightness is affected, colors slightly shifted but it looks white to my eyes. So I obviously settled. Don't settle.![]()
Unless you have another phone to use for another year I agree. In my case my X is borderline unusable at 80% battery life lol, so I’ll prolly be keeping my 12PM, at least until the return window ends. I seem to be noticing it less and less tbh.
I’ve compared it to the X multiple times now. I find the difference is mostly there at lower brightness levels, but even then I think it is arguable which phone is correct with no way of checking.
On top of this like several people have pointed out, mobile phone displays seem to be headed in this direction this year - I doubt we’ll see anything different.
I'd get the battery replaced. That or I'd keep playing the screen lottery until I was satisfied. If you're okay with it, that's fine. I'm just saying if you are not, don't settle. Apple will only care about an issue if people don't let it slide like I did.
How will playing the screen lottery help? Every user reports a yellow cast or warmer display when compared to previous models to some extent, so unless Apple changes supplier somewhere down the line you’ll keep getting equal or worse displays I’m afraid.
On top of that the displays are supposed to be 6500K, correct me if I’m wrong but that’s warmer than any of the previous models, let alone an X 3 years old. Which is why a lot of people, like myself, have freaked out about it.
I’m not saying the screens are spot on by any means, but keep in mind it’s difficult to tell without the right tools. All I’m saying is at this point you’re only wasting time requesting replacements, because they’ll be no better. If you’re completely dissatisfied, return is your only option.
Maybe this’ll change by January, but given the amount of users here being unsuccessful getting a display same as last year’s, or even seeing one at an Apple Store, I think it’s unlikely this’ll be the case.
I have a launch 12 Regular and will say that for years I have been plagued with yellow screens, greenish hue screens and washed out screens. My 12 has as close to perfect, cool, blue, bright and vibrant screen as I have ever seen over the past decade. It is very similar to the 12 Pro on the right side of your pic, if not even more “Cool”. I’ve compared mine to several displays in my local Best Buy, Costco and have EVEN requested and received an Express Replacement simply as one final comparison. My phone was cooler and more vibrant than all of them with TT and NS off. In fact, my screen was still cooler and bluer than most of them with TT enabled.Another 12 Pro, another return.
I got my second 12 Pro today and immediatley noticed a yellow screen. Bummer.
I went to a local Apple shop and saw that my 12 Pro was similar to many of the models in the store. In fact, it was BETTER than some of them. There was a 12 Pro Max there that looked so washed out, I was flabbergasted when I compared my pro to it.
But anyway. There was ONE model in the store that stood out from the others. It looked pretty much perfect.
It is shown on the right here. 12 Pro.
My 12 pro is on the left.

Bummed out. The difference wasnt huge, but its big enough for me to notice. The 12 Pro on the right, in the store, felt better on whites. It was subtle, but noticable.
This picture is taken with my 8, so the white balance isnt quite right. The one on the right looks a bit more purple/blue here than it did in the store.
