Guys. Went to the Apple Store to pick up my 3rd 12 Pro Max today. Again, it had the same warm screen. I think my original 12 Pro Max has a very slightly whiter screen overall and I think I will keep this one and return the others. I have also compared to two of my friend’s as they look the same. When you start the panel lottery foto I make a return and a ne purchase every time o do you try to make a swap with a a new model while you’re in the return period? Is there a limit? Have you ever heard about a ban for too many returns? Thanks
As previously mentioned a few days ago on this forum, my 12 Pro was bought at launch as was my first 12 Pro Max and these were both received on their respective launch dates by delivery.
The 2nd 12 Pro Max I bought in London at the White City Apple Store this Tuesday and the 3rd at London Regent’s Street Apple Store today (Saturday).
Having bought 4 new phones in total, on different days and at different stores and then all exhibiting a warmer hue than any of my other many Apple products, I think it is fair to assume that OVERALL there is a warmer tint this year. This, combined with my discussion with Apple store employees a few days back and other members on this forum reiterating that this may be the new normal, solidifies my opinion.
I would not say any of my screens are actually YELLOW, but they are warmer. No other black/grey/green issues - looked in dark room, all same brightness, blacks and whites, True Tone and night shift off, no filters.
I think that many people who compare to past models will realise theirs is warmer but this warmth is not the defected yellow. Without doubt though, there is variation and I think there are some really yellow ones out there, but for the most part, this may just be the new normal. I’ve bought almost every iPhone since the 4s and this is the first time I’ve bought multiple due to their screens.
When I just look at the phone alone, the whites do look pure white - it is only when you compare it next to something else that it looks noticeably warm, so perhaps those on this forum saying they have pure white/blue/ no issue/perfect phones are just those who either have not compared to an older generation, or perhaps are not as sensitive to shifts in hue. I find myself when out and about using my 12 Pro Max thinking that the screen is really white/blue. (Of course True Tone is always off for those of you who still think to say “Turn off True Tone.”)
Good luck to anyone who still decides to go on a crusade looking for a screen the same as their 11 Pro Maxes, but I doubt you’ll find it. I’m out. I’ll keep this 12 Pro Max and be content. I’ll change it next year again anyway. 😂
