Me neither, I love the new apps. They look crisp and clean. There are only like 1 or 2 which I dislike more than the others e.g. Photo Booth.

Yep, some are fine but some like Safari are awful and the folders are way too bright. But overall not as rubbish as the iOS ones. Not saying they're an improvement on the old ones though.

So you 'like' the new folder icons?:cool::D

Image

I think they should have made them translucent white, like the trash icon, or at least desaturated them a little. That blue is just too strong, there is no reason to make them stand out so much more than anything else.

Image

I just meant the icon set generally lol. I don't HATE the folder icon, I just think they need to darken the colour a little. It's a bit obnoxious at times.

I think the tabs need to be darker. At quick glance it's hard to tell 2+ tabs are open.

I'm not sure I agree. Feels obvious enough to me. What bothers me about the new tabs is the hard right angles. A rounded bottom right corner with even a tiny radius would probably go a long way.

----------

Doubt it. Make a poll if you'd like, i'm sure more like them than dislike them. Most of them are much better.

I certainly dig the new icons. Even the settings icon, which seemed like a glaring offense at the keynote, made sense when I saw it in person on my desktop.

Were these screenshots taken on a non-retina display? I think I'm starting to see why some people don't have a problem with the font and others do.

The font looks so much better in this image because I'm guessing it was on a retina display? Does that make sense or none at all since I'm viewing all of the fonts on my own non-retina display? If that's the case then can someone explain the discrepancy? Look especially at the title bars.

Yeah that first screenshot was taken on an 11" MBA, so non-retina.

File a feedback. There is an app for that ;-)

I did :)

So far so good on a mid 2009 macbook with 4gb ram. I'm sure things will run a bit quicker and smoother on my 2013 iMac but thats my main machine so i heeded the warnings on doing that. Handbrake is the only third party app I've tried so far and it worked just as good as it did in Mavericks. iBooks is a little quirky. It took a good while to do a search. The new iTunes worked fine although I don't keep files locally on this MacBook. I use strictly Match for my music. All playlists and album art appear to be fine. Others have reported Airdrop working between Yosemite and iOS 7 but I'm thinking this MacBook may not support it even with iOS 8. Something about the version of Bluetooth I imagine.

I hope they change all the folder icons to have a colour overlay like the Pages, etc. in the example (I wish I could find those now). The current (since at least SL) have a slight colour gradient and while it might be easy for a 20 year old to visually cue in on it, when you're over 50 it's not so. A colour overlay of what the folder it would make it easy to quickly identify the folder. It also wouldn't be a bad idea to bring back coloured icons in the sidebar à la Leopard too.

I would much prefer any overlays to be like frosted glass, but I'd also hope that they tweak the specularity on the default folder to be a little less like plastic.

Yeah I think the folders need a bit of tweaking. That's probably one of the things I dislike. Even though I'm in my early 20's I still think they need a bit of work

Very clean look

The dock is much improved, very clean. I like the dark dot compared to the previous glow below the icon ( indicating a program ON). My desk top picture looks more distinctive as do the NY Times, Chess.com, and Mac Rumors. Mail more distintive. I usually use Firefox, but turned on /safari, and it looks much improved too.

beautiful YES

I also agree Yosemite is beautiful, clean looking and the text is easier to read - it pops - this change is just like going from ios6 to ios7

Don't look back .

I think it's an OS made for Retina Display. If you have one it looks like an absolute beauty.

I have this running on a 21.5" iMac and a 13" rMBP. Looks great on both of them IMO. Better on the Retina screen, but no more so than Mavs.

Everything looks better on retina!

I'm running a mid-2013 MBA. Performance is fine but the fonts are a little blurry in dark mode.

Speaking of which, dark mode + that orange Yosemite wallpaper is a major Ubuntu flashback.

That's my image. Yes it's on a 15" Retina MacBook Pro. Yosemite looks so much better on it than on my 1080p monitor at 93 PPI.

Simple, Yet Elegant, Beautiful, and Functional

Wow this OS interface & design is truly great! I think Ive and his team have struck a near perfect balance between simplicity, elegance, and function.

If anything, I'm annoyed at the skeumorphic icons and other elements that still remain in the OS that they didn't have resources to change prior to this release (I'm looking at you Mail, Photo Booth). The 'Settings' app icon still appears to have retained some skeumorphic, unnecessary design elements, which is an interesting choice... I want all of the icons to be more 'iconic' like Finder, Contacts, and Safari.

Also can't wait for the 'Photos' app next year to replace iPhoto/Aperature and more closely align with the Photos app on the iPhone (yet more powerful).

I also wish we had real push e-mail in the Mail apps for iOS and Mac OS X when using iCloud. Having to open the app to sync is sooo 2010

Love the responsiveness of Safari and Mail.

But the looks?

Shouldn't call it Yosemite.

Should call it Butterface.

Agree, so clean. Love Helvetica throughout, dark mode is awesome, widgets and notification centre feels polished.. can't wait to see what developers do with widgets.
