After updating to 10.10.1, my internet STILL disconnects during large Time Capsule backups to my Time Machine. Very frustrating.

My MBP still drops wifi signal regularly.

My wi-fi was also acting up after Yosemite was first released in October. I kept getting drops on my macbook and sometimes it would take a while to get back online. By the end of October, I decided to nuke my hard drive and do a clean install of Yosemite. That solved my wi-fi problem....long before Apple came out with their update today.

Clean installs can be time consuming. And understandably, there are many people who don't want to bother with them. Certainly, upgrades are far easier. But I am a firm believer in clean installs of new operating systems, particularly since I came from the buggy MS Windows world. The trick is ensuring that you've got all your personal data backed up first!

*bump*

Reinstallled Yosemites over the weekend, did not fix my issue :(

Same here. WiFI blows, and so does Safari. Can't handle some websites it used to be able to handle under 10.9, and the regular crashes of 2 finger swiping for navigation. Works sometimes, and others not.

I dont understand why some days are better than others. It started out needing one reconnect to stay connected, then a couple, then none, then 3, then random, for a couple days it took 10 minutes of reconnects to get a stable connection, yesterday I didnt disconnect at all when waking from sleep. Sometimes it will reconnect itself while most of the time it requires a manual reconnect.

Dont be so sure if you think youve "solved it"

This is so ridiculous. It's been over a month now and my MacBook is still useless.

What is ridiculous is that we are almost at the year 2015, and people are regularly having trouble connecting to the internet. It's mind boggling. We are no where near as far along in technology as we would like to think or are led to believe.

Lol you love suggesting that don't you.

Well if an update is poor thats down to Apple but we have people on here saying their machines are "still useless" after a month - that implies they just don't take enough care, the month is down to the user, not Apple.

:)

Because I do not have backups going back to Mavericks? Because I'm a full time student with a job and I don't have time to wipe my MacBook, go through the trouble of finding out how to get Mavericks off the internet (with BROKEN internet, in case you forgot), download it, and manually migrate hundreds of gigs of data?

It's very stupid that you're attempting to blame the consumer for a problem the company created.

a Mac isn't an iDevice, any upgrade to any computer can have issues. You should have a backup. You could have reinstalled by now having made a backup of your files.

If you take no care with backups, eventually you will come unstuck as you have done and have no options.

Easy to blame a big faceless company but the means to avoid this length of pain was in your hands.

"Stupid" - well I'm not the one stuck with no backup.

Question for you guys:

1. When you have wifi trouble, are you plugged in, or running on battery?

2. Is your router a dual band router? (2.4GHz and 5 GHz)

For me, issues arises when plugged in and running on battery.

My home wireless network is 2.4ghz.

I wake my laptop up and have to either reboot or power cycle the WiFi adapter before the laptop will see my home network and connect to it.

This also happens at other places and didn't happen under Mavericks, so for me it's not network related.

Don't worry. There are some issues flying around and if you're unlucky they might hit you, a big one like this should get fixed eventually. But I promise all the other Mac goodness will make up for it. I migrated to OS X in 2012 after being a Microsoft player since MS-DOS 3.3.

I've updated to the latest 10.10.2 DP and haven't had any WiFi issues since. Before I was getting constant pauses in Safari. I've even gone back to using a single SSID for both my 2.4 and 5GHz networks, so far it seems to be back to normal.
