I'm not experiencing issues on Yosemite in terms of WiFi, but I am experiencing issues in iOS 8 and WiFi and I can't help but think they are related because safari acts the same way on both.

Safari will show the blue progress bar about a fingernails length and hang there before it finally loads the page. On Yosemite it only does it for a second, but on iOS 8 it can do it for up to 30 seconds to a minute before it finally starts loading the page.

This issue has to be related the way a connection is picked up on Yosemite and iOS 8.

I don't use the same bookmarks on my Mac as I do on my iPhone and that's the only thing that isn't synced up between the two devices. It's all I could come up with.

my early 2013 15R shipped with 10.8 Apple says I can only go back to 10.8.

I back up by drag and drop. No time for time machine back ups.

So please, anyone tell me how to get back to 10.9....

Open the Mac App Store and look at your purchases..

Scroll down and you should find OS X Mavericks (you updated so you should have got it from the MAS in the first place)..

Click on Download (mine says resume because I already clicked download, then paused it)

My pleasure, glad I could help.

EDIT: you will get a warning telling you it won't open because it's too old. The workaround is to get a USB Key (8GB or larger) and use DiskMaker X http://liondiskmaker.com

EDIT2: Copy the Install OS X Mavericks file to your desktop from Applications (don't drag it) then run DiskMaker X

+1 for Diskmaker X. There's nothing like a clean install, and unless you feel like messing around in the terminal for the sport of it, this is the best tool for the job.

I have the same machine, refurb. It shipped with mountain lion and runs that and mavericks beautifully. Oddly, if I use internet restore, it only restores to mountain lion. So, keep a USB boot disk of your OS of choice somewhere safe should you need it.

I've noticed that speed is fine for my iPhone 5s under iOS8, but on 5GHz, it seems to take longer to begin fetching things. After it starts though, the rest is perfectly fine. I think Apple screwed something up on both. They do share some code.

Having this issue since Mavericks.....
My Air is connected to a ethernet cable via a usb adapter, but that just stops working. Then I turn on wifi, and after some time, that also stops working.

Oh and, now my Air freezes after sleep..

Go to network preferences and change your service order to give Ethernet priority over everything else.

I have Netgear R7000 router. I upgraded both my second gen MBA and late 2013 rMBP to Yosemite on first day it was available and I have been using it since. I never had any issue with wifi (knocked on wood). MBA is using N on 5ghz and the rMBP is using AC on 5ghz band. They are working great. I am not rubbing in. I just want to say that not everyone is seeing the issue.

Do you mean it has to be on top of that list? Where you can see bluetooth and wifi? It's on top of that list, but I also can't change the order on it.

It's just weird, ethernet wil stop working, and if I unplug the usb and plug it back it, it'll sometimes start again. Same with wifi, just reconnecting it will do the trick.

I've noticed that when I hook my late-2013 13" rMBP to an external monitor and operate it with the lid closed my WiFi drops 10 Mbps. I open the lid and the speed rises back to 23 Mbps.

I've been a loyal Mac user since the mid 80's. My Macbook Air is now unusable with the wifi issues with Yosemite. I am so pissed I will NEVER EVER do another update nor will I ever buy another Mac. I'm done.

Here is an update on my specific WiFi issues since upgrading to Yosemite.

As I posted earlier, I have two almost identical Early 2011 15" MBP's (one entry level and one mid level). One is fine with Yosemite, and one loses WiFi connectivity (even though it shows connected). During this time, Pings won't go through to the Airport. This happens after a number of minutes, and can stay out for 30 seconds to a couple of minutes. Refreshing my IP address seems to bring it back, as does just waiting for it to "come back".

Time Machine backups over the Airport seem to aggravate the issue, but they complete successfully. I have an Airport Extreme (4th generation) and I connect on the 5Ghz frequency. Moving my channel from Auto to 48, seemed to help the problem, or at least make it less frequent. However, the problem was still there...

The fact that refreshing the IP made a difference made me want to look at the rest of my network. Especially because I always got the same IP again.

I have AT&T uVerse and have to use their gateway "modem". I have their WiFi turned off. Since I have to use their "modem", I have always just bridged my Airport Extreme and let my AT&T device handle the DHCP and NAT.

That has been my setup for years (since Leopard?), and I never had an issue until Yosemite...

After some research, I determined that I could forward the Internet traffic directly to my Airport Extreme, and give my Extreme the Public IP address.

This allows me to run the Airport in a more traditional mode, and switch the Airport Extreme from Bridged mode, back to router mode with DHCP and NAT.

Here is the interesting part: Since the change, the WiFi problem seems to have gone away. My WiFi has been stable on both machines. I have not had a drop on either machine. Feeling lucky, I decided to move my 5GHz channel back to Auto.

Much to my surprise, my WiFi seems to be back to normal. No drops, full bandwidth, no issues at all.

Granted it has only been a day and a half, but I use my machine heavily on the weekend and it has been fine.

I know it makes NO sense that changing my Airport from bridged to router mode, and moving the DHCP from the AT&T router on the bridged network, back to the Airport, would effect this, but it did.

Why it effects the ability to connect to the 5Ghz channel makes even less sense.

There is no reason I should have to have reconfigured my network to make Yosemite WiFi work, but since I like this configuration better anyway, it works for me.

Just thought I would share my experience to see if it could help anyone else...

I upgraded a '08 MBP to Yosemite and had a few WiFi issues. Safari would hesitate for about 2-3 seconds before loading every page. Also Time Machine backups were slow averaging about 1-3 MB/s on a wireless N/5Ghz network with a strong signal. Deleting unused preferred networks (about 2 dozen of them) completely eliminated the Safari hesitation.

Any updates on this? Conversation really seems to have died down in this thread, but I'm still experiencing the issue. Seems worse than ever...

I'm still getting this.

Turning bluetooth off helps (which is a pain because you can't use handoff without it) but it doesn't clear up the issue completely.

For whatever annoying reason, my computer has been downloading the Pre-release update seeds even though when the full release came out, I installed the full version from the App Store.

Anyways, the wi-fi issues on the newest build (14B23) are still there and actually worse than the build before it (14B17). It is incredibly annoying.

Mid 2013 Macbook Air here. Was on the phone with support for an hour today (well, 25 minutes of that was waiting) and the guy made me do a bunch of stuff like boot up in recovery mode, delete some random files in preferences and more and I'm still having the problems. This is reallllllllyyyyyyyy pissing me off.

So Apple techs have no clue? Yeah that's a fact.

So happy I didn't upgrade to 10.10.

My rMBP spends more time trying to connect to the net than actually staying connected. It made my FaceTime session with my girlfriend last night laughable. Had to switch to my iPhone after ten or so attempts.
