Took this in Denver while on a trip to ONA16. First photo with the 7 Plus.

For me 2016 was incredible, I can't believe what a huge jump filming in 4K has been for me. The picture below is mindblowing for me, as it's actually just a screenshot of a frame from a video I made for an up and coming local band.

I am still amazed by the quality of a single frame from a video filmed in quite difficult conditions.

Well I am obviously a very different type of photographer than those of you who have already shared. I am a family photographer, not a landscape/environmental photographer. I have lots of favorites from the year because they all have some element of emotional relevance for me, but this was the one that came to my mind first for "best." Admittedly, "best" and "favorite" are somewhat synonymous for me, based on my shooting style.

Nothing wrong with that. I have no emotional attachment to your photo, but still think its great! I'd love to photograph my family if they would just let me.

Quite fond of this engagement photo I took for my friends on top of the Duomo in Florence Italy.

Sorry for the bad quality.
Lovely moment captured. Could you not have got the tower in shot to give it context?

Florence is a beautiful beautiful place.

For me this was a year where I spent some time using wide angle and ultra wide angle lenses. Found that I love the 20mm to 25mm range.

For this one, I got up early and drove into Providence wanting to shoot some of the wind turbines I pass every day on my way to and from work. Drove over these train tracks to get nearer to the wind turbines and took several shots at dawn with a 24-70 zoom and an 18mm prime. Wasn't happy with what I was seeing and then remembered the train tracks. Quickly walked back over there, as the sun was coming up and I wanted to take advantage of the light. Saw this composition and it just clicked in my head.

I chose this pic for the thread because I found it interesting visually but also (and more importantly for me) because it tells a story--oil tankers representing "old" energy (with the surrounding elements also supporting an "abandoned" kind of feel) with the wind turbine in the background (renewable energy--hopefully the future or a part of the future). Whether this is an interesting story or a viable story, it is a story. And something that I often neglect when shooting. I've become more conscious this year of having my photos try to tell a story, one more thing I think about when composing. I often don't succeed, but I'm at least thinking about it ;)

I like this one because you got your backside off your property and might of actually got your knees grubby for this one... o_O

I like this shot a lot. Nice colour nice leading lines, bit of urban decay about it... Quality

My skill level doesn't even compete so I'll post my personal favorite, just for fun

As for the story... I'm just always trying to get good shots of my daughter lol
It's not a competition. We are all on a journey but didn't all start at the same time.
It's just about what you to consider your best of the year. Getting good shots of your daughter is easier at this age when they don't move as quick!

This is how a lot of us came to be on here. I too started because I wanted pictures of my daughters. Stick at it and never say your skills don't compete. It isn't about that. We are all on a journey just some of us left a little earlier... ;-) Hang around, post a few and you will be surprised how you progress. If we critique, we do it to help not to intimidate.

This is a nice shot of your little cute one. Thanks for sharing...
