Tried the Weather Underground app for a while, but I find it unfinished and inconsistent
- sometimes it displays "Rain wil stop in {time}" instead of showing a time
- sometimes it says "Rain will stop in 10 minutes" when it is not raining at all. Even its own radar shows no rain in the neighbourhood
- the clouds in the radar map are bulky
- sometimes the data doesn't refresh, I have to switch to another weatherstation and back to have the data refreshed
- on the iPad the screen is flickering sometimes when I scroll

It's a pity that the app has these flaws because I think the weather prediction is rather good. And I like the option to use a large number of (local) weatherstations. Better to use their web page I guess.

It is good to see that BeWeather 3 got some updates recently with:
- iOS14 homescreen widget support
- change in weather source (although still one source)
- has become free and I think even free users can no use it without ads since latest update (original paid users already had no ads)
- the homescreen widgets lack some options to change which data you want to see in a certain widget (Carrot Weather is still the master in that)

Some features I still hope to see though are:
- show amount in mm precipitation for upcoming hours
- minute by minute precipitation in the homescreen widgets (these is still available on Today view btw)
- Update the FAQ regarding e.g. weather source, paid/free

Indeed. Who knew that BeWeather was still a thing? I used it years ago on my Blackberry... they had a couple of "false starts" with the iOS version about 8-10 years ago, and I figured that it slept with the fishes...

I still prefer CARROT weather, but it's nice to see that Bellshare is still trying.

No service
Hands down the best weather app I have ever used is Tenki.

There are two main limitations: the service only covers weather in Japan and the app is only in Japanese.

The forecast accuracy is jaw-droppingly good. If the app says it'll rain at 3pm, it'll rain at 3pm.

I am baffled why I can't get an American weather app as good as Tenki (which is Japanese for "weather"). You can also access the service via the web site Tenki.jp.

They even have some highly unusual service offerings, like a section tracking the annual cherry blossom season:

That's right. The app tells you how the cherry blossoms are blooming in various parts of the country, their various stages, etc. with forecasts for peak bloom.

Stuff like that.

Better yet, Tenki is FREE.

Unsurprisingly this is Japan's top weather app. Like so many apps and services, the Japanese have their own homegrown stuff that is light years better than something like Weather Underground or WeatherBug.

For GPS navigation, the Japanese don't use Waze at all. If you fire up Waze in Tokyo, there are very few nearby Wazers at all.

But back to the main topic, it is pitiful that there isn't at least one good free American weather app that approaches Tenki's accuracy and features.
