I have tried many (paid and free) weather apps for iPhone (as well as iPad). Many popular weather apps are popular because they are high on eye candy factor. While eye candies are fun for few days, they get tiresome (at least for me) after awhile.

What is best depends on what you are looking for, but for typical weather needs, I think built-in Weather app is still the best overall. It's quick, stylish enough, and integrated with Notification Center and Siri. That said, it has two major shortcomings: lack of depth (both the amount of data and extended forecast) and lack of radar.

For detailed weather information, I really don't have a favorite. My-Cast Weather Radar would get my reluctant recommendation, but I dislike the UI and icon (and lack of iPhone 5 support). On the iPad side, Seasonality Go stands above the rest and would be my recommendation.

For radar, my favorite is Dark Sky. I live in San Francisco Bay Area where it's dry about 9 months of the year, so the app gets only seasonal use. But the app has truly remarkable precipitation forecast and radar view that makes sense to average users.

Just stumbled upon Weather On yesterday. After playing around with it, I upgraded to the pro version. It is quite nice. Nice to see a new weather app that's nice.

this.

I've stopped looking after i found Solar.

the latest update has fixed the inaccurate weather problem and its gorgeous. the rest are either ugly or too polluted with irrelevant details.

Solar is novel but really is not very useful unless for basic temp. The background colors and how they merge together are not very informative and can be confusing.

What confusing about the temp?

Moving you finger up the screen to get hourly forecast or dragging the screen down to get 3 day is genius.

Its a beautiful app

Not the temp, but the conditions. The conditions and temperature is a combination of upper half and lower half color combinations, which I don't find to be very useful. Also the slide your finger concept is novel, but after awhile using the app becomes a PIA. I'd rather just see a list quick with one click rather than have to slide up down, or swipe from the top to get a minimal 3 day forecast.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice little app. I am actually on the beta test team for it as well. Just for what I would like to see and how I want to see it, there are better apps out there.

For radar, love the NOAA Hi-Def Radar app for iPhone and iPad.

Oh my this one looks great!!!

----------

I have a bunch of different weather apps too.

Mostly I like Myradar (paid version) because during the summer I can see where the rain is and if I should leave the pool.

I use weather underground if I am on my computer...I see others say it has an app which I didn't know. So thanks!

I use weather channel to check out the temp and also if you guys are into weather...make sure to sign up on weather channel's website for tornado alerts. It will send me a text if there is a tornado warning...I don't have it bother me for anything else. It saved the asses of a lot of people in my hometown on feb 29th of this year which killed 8 people. I don't know of any apps that do alerts though.

I just purchased the Noaa hi-def though after it was mentioned on this thread.

I just love AccuWeather. The main screen offers the current temperature, any active weather alerts, current conditions, and wind speeds.

I like WeatherBug.

be an ok app if the weather icons actually represented the weather outside...
Living on the lake in Chicago, the weather icons reflect what is going on at Chicago O'Hare, which is never the same as what is going on, on the lakeshore. So overall not impressed. Thinking of trying Weather Underground (it seems to be the same as weatherbug from the reviews)

Most reliable according to who?

In Germany a consumer organisation tested apps for a few months on 9 locations worldwide in 2013. WeatherPro came out as best
http://m.focus.de/digital/handy/sti...-liefern-gute-tagesprognosen_aid_1000276.html

In 2012 a German magazine tested apps and websites. WeatherPro was best here also
http://m.chip.de/test/Die-besten-Wetter-Apps-und-Online-Wetterdienste-im-Test_55968169.html

Note that these sites really tested weather prediction and not as much how fancy an app was (most websites only test for looks and features, not reliability).
