Smaller battery? Noooo

That's the rumor, something like approximately 200 mAh less. As it's also rumored to be about 0.2 mm thicker, my guess it has to do with the inclusion of the hardware required for Force Touch. I'm not going all Chicken Little yet until we see some additional info upon announcement/release and because iOS9 does seem to further improve battery battery performance (my 6+ has been even better on the iOS9 beta than before).

BUYING: iPhone 6s or 6s+
MIGHT BUY: Note 5

Getting the next iPhone because I've realised I'm fine with my Tab S 8.4 to still my Android lust, and iPhone is my daily driver choice from now on. IOS is boring sometimes but it's the most hassle-free option and saves me time and energy.
Might downsize to the smaller iPhone to test what that's like now that I have a tablet that's actually light and thin enough to bring along almost all of the time. (I'm starting to lust for a MacBook Air 11 too, but that's another story...especially since I just bought a 15" retina )

The phone junky side of me is trying to tell me I need a second phone because I live abroad now and two sims is handy to have. And that this phone might as well be a Note 5 since it looks very nice, I love the Notes series, and I'm keen as f**** on this new insta-note taking capability when you just pull out the S Pen and write on the black screen. Also I'm still not 100% convinced that a 8.4" tablet is the right size for my Android side kick device...

SELLING: Note 2 & Note 3
MIGHT SELL: iPhone 4s, Apple Watch SGS 42mm

Should have sold the old Notes long ago, I'm just lazy. Would have kept the Note 3 but now that my Tab S has shown me how good an amoled display can be, I can't stand the greenish hue of the Note 3 display anymore.

Will sell the 4s (for peanuts nowadays, I suppose) if I get another phone for my second sim.

Might sell the AW as I just spent a week without it due to leaving the f**** expensive charging cable behind, and I found I didn't miss it THAT much. Will keep it until I've tested WatchOS 2 though. And if I sell it, I'll probably get a Asus ZenWatch 2 because I'm into smartwatches now, and apparently Android Wear now works with iOS.

Time, because it rules EVERYTHING!
Keep my Nexus 5 as a backup phone. And so far still going to get the new LG Nexus 5.

I have my still current Sony Xperia Z3 Compact Tablet and for Christmas I will be getting a 16GB iPod Touch to replace my Nano 3rd gen I use in the car and give me access to all those iOS apps I have.
Also may get the Microsoft Band 2 if it's decent for my birthday next year.

Keeping my S6 Edge until the S7 Edge. I just don't feel like the S6 Edge Plus or the Note 5 is worth the jump from an S6 Edge. Wanted to try the One Plus Two, but reviews make it seem underwhelming.

I'll most likely be buying the Gear S2 smartwatch (non 3G version) only if the price isn't above $300. If I get it, it will be replacing my Gear 2 Neo, which I will not be selling since I can't get much for it.

Will of course take the iPhone 6S Plus on a trial period. Like I do with iPhones every year.

Adding the Z5 Premium and Huawei Watch to my list.

Z5P is ridiculous and I'm just as interested in this new exclusive-to-Sony-phones camera they have, as well as the 4k screen.

Huawei Watch could be a real problem for the Moto 360 - it does round and skin bezels without the flat tyre which looks significantly better.

I feel ~6" for pocketability, ~8" for one handed use and ~13"+ for productivity/creativity are optimal sizes...

Bought Note 5.
Pre-ordered 8" Galaxy Tab S2. This was more optional but SAMOLED display is too beautiful.
Plan to buy Surface Pro 4 or equivalent SAMOLED version.
Thinking about a stand-alone cellular capable smartwatch.

I figured instead of starting a new thread, I'll just start the convo here...

Thoughts on the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus?

I think it's a good update for the iPhone. A lot of things are long overdue. For example, a front facing camera that offers more than 1.2 MP -- it's about damn time. Back shooter looks like a nice upgrade, too, and Touch ID 2 sounds good (faster fingerprint reader is always welcomed). RAM will be interesting to see (god, it better be 2GB), and it's a shame about the default storage option (with 4K video recording, I was almost sure there the default option would be 32GB). Plus, I would have loved to see even more, like quick charging (this feature has saved me so many times) or a higher resolution screen or OIS on the 6S (were they clear on what whether it would have OIS or not? I wasn't sure...), but... all in all, still a solid and arguably necessary update.

As for 3D Touch, I like it. However, it's not a "must-have" or "must-buy" feature like Touch ID was when it was first introduced. I just don't see the merit of pressing harder on a screen, nor do I see a huge difference between that and long-pressing. Yes, I'm aware long-pressing means holding onto it longer whereas pressing harder means actually putting more pressure into the screen, but effectively, they both convey the same results and given that, I prefer long-pressing over pressing harder on a glass screen. I'm curious to try it, but ultimately, I don't feel it's a must-have feature that makes me want to get the iPhone.

I will say this though:

I think where the real gain of 3D Touch is is in the fact that app icons are now action-able.

In some ways, it's as close as iOS can get to widgets on a home screen (actual widgets are better, IMO). At least now, you don't have to necessarily go into an app or pull down the notification shade to act. You can do it directly from your home screen and from the app's icon.

And to bring this thread back on topic... another major smartphone announcement, another pass for me. The S6 still reigns supreme for me for 2015. What remains is the Nexus 5X. And personally, I don't see that dethroning the S6.

I was more interested in the iPad pro and Apple pencil. That's a day 1 buy for me. I will buy the iPhone 6S Plus but the biggest disappointment for me was that Ireland is yet again not a launch country meaning a few extra weeks waiting .... Like seriously apple #WTF!

So it's looking like my next purchase now will be the Moto X Style which should have in a couple weeks time. Though I'm humming and harring whether to wait till Googles Nexus announcements and maybe look at the LG or Huawei Nexus ....

I think they look really good, and 3d touch looks interesting, while I also prefer a long press, this gives another ui element. So like with the icons, I can long press to move them or force touch to see the extra options. Also interested in seeing that multitasking gesture and how well it works. But the biggest thing I'm curious about is ois on the regular 6s, since that's the model I plan to pick up to compliment my Note 5, and it was never mentioned.

And yes, they better have 2gb of ram too.

That's funny, as I was watching the announcement I thought "well, I will look forward to mru's review the iPad pro" cause from the demo it seemed tailer made for your use. The only thing disappointing to me about the pro was the the stylus is seperate, and I know I'll lose this $100 accessory. Wish it was built in like the Note.

I would choose a Surface Pro over that iPad

I've had a surface pro 2 in the past. For me it just didn't work out well as an illustrating device (3rd party illustration apps lack hi dpi support often resulting in broken apps at standard 200% gui scaling, so you have to go back to 100/125% resulting in micro sized menus that become irritating and awkward to hit accurately.... It wasn't fun to use as a drawing device sadly. Indeed the Note 12.2 was better. The biggest issue with the Note 12.2 was Samsung's almost complete lack of support and the fact it won't get any more updates, at least with the iPad pro I can guarantee it'll continue to get OS updates for more than 9 months.

Disappointed, but not surprised, they put a white front on the rose gold color. I really don't know what Apple has against black fronts. :( I hope it's not some stupid reason like, if the black was front, the bands had to match, and it didn't look good. Also, that color is pink; rose gold is more of a coppery color, but it's still pretty.

I still need to know RAM and battery. Someone on twitter told me it was still 1GB, but I need sources to verify that.

Yeah and €99 is a pricy extra too. But yeah it screams tailor made for my use tbh. I'm already using an iPad Air 2 with a couple of bluetooth pencils but they have issues with being able to actually see what your drawing and they invariably have some lag, the pro model & pencil looks to address much of that with a pen tip that actually draws like a pen.

I'm actually way more excited about getting the iPad pro of all they unveiled.

The iPad Pro didn't excite me one bit. And those prices... and the Apple Pencil for $99? The keyboard for $169?

I rather get the Macbook Air.

I want the Surface 3, would do me, think the iPad Pro is alright but predicting how much it will cost in the UK it will be a rip off compared to the upcoming Surface PRO 4.

Still going to get a new iPod Touch though :)

No interest in the keyboard, but I do think the pro is definitely a 'niche' device. For some it poses as a great tool one that I can integrate into my current workflow - if I was looking at it merely as a media consumption device I would have no interest.

But with the likes of Astropad app, on the pro with the Apple Pencil and with my RMBP I have a thin portable cintiq style device that will allow me to work not only with iPad native apps, but as a second screen to my full desktop Macintosh illustration / design apps. That's a great prospect and a damn site cheaper even at €1000 than a decent cintiq companion.

I may get a Mac Pro next year, being made redundant at my current place early next year, hmm if I get another job and my redundancy money I would get one I think. Hmmm.

You're the sort of chappy that will use the pen though for art stuff / photo stuff. But what if the Surface Pro 4 has a fanless design with the new Intel processors?
I would like a Surface 3, hmm again would depend but if I got a desktop Mac I would want a Surface as a kinda laptop replacement possibly.

For me the issue isn't surface hardware, I really like it. It's the issue sadly of poor third party hi dpi support in Windows. Most of my illustration apps were broken or barely usable on my Surface Pro 2. Even adobe's hi dpi support is still only beta on Windows. But the likes of painter and such still don't have it. It basically rules it out for me.

Soo just noticed the iPhone 6S Plus is the only model with optical image stabilisation, again. Why?

Ah yeah, forgot about that DPI issue. I thought they would have sorted it in Windows 10. I remember you saying before hence why you jumped to the Galaxy Note Pro if I remember for a while. So the new iPad Pro is a God send I would think? Yeah don't know how Microsoft could have messed that up, such a massive opportunity for artist and photographers missed.

I suppose they have no control over third party developers, the fact that most Windows laptops and such still don't come with high res screens means developers are dragging their heels. A quick venture in pc world the other day and vast majority of laptops 13-16" size they are selling still had 1376x768 resolution.
