2x LG 27EA83, if so how do you find them?

I dig them prior to the mac pro I had an iMac and I didn't want to lose the resolution. So far I have been very happy. Only issue I would say is that I had do a force RGB hack to get the text to look smoother. The have a nice arm that rises up to eye level and you can tilt the screen. I bought them when they were on sale at new egg for $500 a piece.

My Edit

Mine just came in today and I excitedly set it up. I'm an editor/after effects animator/illustrator.

macpro.jpg

Yamaha HS50M Studio Monitors, pair of mediocre Dell 24" monitors, Blue Snoball mic (for scratch tracks mostly), Large Wacom Intous 3 (holding out to see if they update the current line in the next year or so), a little Behringer mixer, and my 6 core/D700/512GB/32GB Memory new Mac Pro rig on top. Under is my 1,1 Mac Pro with a new Pegasus2 R4 with 4x3TB.
I
'm still in the process of getting a lot of projects off the old machine. So, it'll probably be down there for a few more months before I try to sell it.

Anybody running their nMP through a 4k tv as a monitor?

I'm curious how well it would work with that and a wireless kb/mouse, sitting on the couch.

You think it is safe to have the nMP tucked up next to a big (magnet) speaker like that?

I thought it was only hard drives the magnets effect? and the nMP is flash so? Not sure though aha!

How do you like the HS50s? That is the exact setup I'm working towards! with the dell monitors! except i have a 1,1

Here's my setup, finally finished everything after 2nd tb display arrived today :)
My cat Murmel loves the new toys :D

It's not true that the nice look of the machine has to be spoiled by tons of cables and external devices lying all around.
Storage attached to my nMP is:

1x Promise Pegasus R6 12TB Thunderbolt
1x Drobo 5D 5 TB Thunderbolt
2x Lacie 4 TB USB 3
1x WD Mybook 3 TB Usb 3

I have the raids stored away in a cabinet and the usb hard drives hidden inside the desk. It can be opened up on the top and all the cables go in through a little slit as you might be able to see on one of the pictures.
The Mac Pro cables go behind the back of the desk, and then inside it through a whole on the bottom, or directly to the raids, led on the backside of the table's leg. From inside the desk, I distribute them to a usb 3 hub, to the hdds, and to the TB displays.

It doesn't have to be a cluttered mess, you just need to put some love in the setup.
I also have the whole desk sitting directly opposed to a window. As you can see, the reflections on the TB displays are not too bad.
I'm very happy :):apple:

Ahh, yes you could be right from a quick google search. Does the nMP have magnets in it at all? If so the reverse could happen and your speaker could be at risk. It could be nothing and I'm being paranoid.

Most of the new speakers are shield. But your question is valid :)

Cute Cat!!

just a question dude...

how does the harddrive not overheat in such enclose space!..

super neat set up !

you mean the raids? Or the ones inside the desk? In the desk there's plenty of room and the ones in the cupboard..well I don't know how they manage to, but the promise utility always measures temps well in the green area.. :)

Hard to see in the photo but they're about 3-4" away from each other. I think people overstate the dangers of speakers and electronics. Besides both are pretty well shielded. I remember accidentally having and external (spinning) hard drive sitting on a studio monitor for about 2 months with no effect.

I'm really loving the HS50's. I had to get them after one of my M Audio BX5as died on me (only sold in pairs). I'm not an audio engineer at all but all the HS50 reviews for the price point seemed to work well for me and I was able to score these off eBay for a decent bargain. Added bonus that the white/black looks really sharp. Don't worry, I was rocking my 1,1 until literally Thursday night. It's still going strong but I needed to move to faster render times and Creative Cloud.

Chaslor's's setup reminded me of three 2010 oMPs (8 cores each) of a friend of mine. He used them in parallel, getting 24 cores in total.

how are you enjoying the machine? Have you started cutting anything yet?

I'm an editor/ motion designer too and it definitely renders a lot faster in after effects and premiere!
I had an afx comp that took 24 mins to render on the iMac rendered in 13 minutes on the beast!

The actual work feels almost identical to my old maxed out late 2012 iMac, but a tiny bit faster. It just feels a bit more responsive somehow.

Copying video files from the ssd to the pegasus r6 is funny.
I moved an 800mb clip from the desktop to the raid and it was there instantly, the load bar didn't even appear. Just like moving a text file :D

Congrats to all! I got mine set up about a week ago. :) I work in the animation industry as a designer, hence the giant wacom to the right. :p

I have that desk, and love it. My system is not quite finished. I will have a picture soon.

Enjoy your new workstation.

What brand of desk is that? I'm guessing it's not cheap.

Mine looks like his, of course it might just be similar.

Main level (under the monitor) hand cranks up and down. You can do sit and stand with it. The keyboard platform is mounted to the main platform with an adjustable arm. Mine also has a cable channel underneath, where I have stashed a USB hub, and both my TM external disk, and my BootCamp SSD. I still need to do some cable organizing.

Here's the one I have in the picture: http://www.biomorphdesk.com/products/ergonomic-adjustable-desks/personal-desk-series/personal

It's hand crank operated. They're fantastic, albeit pricey desks. I've had mine for around 7 years. Highly recommended if you do a lot of work from home. That and a really good ergonomic chair. :D
