Mine...I'm still in the process of deciding on a TM solution which may effect the placement of the UPS but this is more or less the way it will stay.

good job managing the cables! What UPS do you have? Thinking of picking one up..

Thanks! Actually the photos probably make it look nicer than it is...I still have to get in there and have some fun with cable ties to really tidy everything up. :D

My UPS is a CyberPower 1500AVR. I've had it for about a year and been very happy with it. I got it at my local Frys for around $200. One interesting thing since you brought up the UPS...I noticed that the estimated run time on battery went from ~12 minutes with the MP 3,1 to ~15 minutes with the nMP (it would be a few minutes higher but some of the energy savings between the two machines was lost with the addition of the Drobo).

Received my nMP the other day after about 2 months of waiting, did an in store pickup. My nMP was supposed to be 6c/d500/512gb/16gb ram, but Apple messed up and sent me 32gb of ram. When they scanned the serial number it came one digit off and they checked the specs, they offered to do a manager override and let me take that one home for no extra cost if I didn't mind that it wasn't exactly what I ordered.

Here's the setup:

That's an Ergotron monitor arm on the cinema display, it let's me swing it around to the workbench or put the screen in portrait. I've got another arm for it, but the iMac is slightly too heavy for it. Hoping that when Apple makes a 4k monitor it's at least as light as the thunderbolt cinema display.

Thanks all who added to this thread already, it gave me some hope and something to drool over while waiting.

When was your order date? trying to figure out how much longer I have. Ordered it Jan 20th w/in hours of it moving to March delivery.

Ordered Dec 31st, ready for pickup March 3rd.

You might still have a little while:/
Hopefully they have been catching up on their orders though and it won't take two months for you.

You can adjust the spring of your ergotron to take into account the weight of the iMac.

Adjusted it to max tension and it couldn't hold up the iMac. It would just slowly slip down, I have a 2011 iMac and it's just slightly over the weight limit.

*sigh* that is depressing. If they are still that far behind how are they going to come even close to fulfilling March orders. It would be the end of March before I get mine if they don't start to catch up and I was one of the first March orders.

Suitcases underneath to keep the baby away from the wires. Need a prettier solution.

This is my setup

Damn look at all those 3.5's. Wait... I've got the same amount. Hate organizing old data. How do you like the sound of your Apogee? Thinking about picking up a UAD Apollo Twin solo.

All those 3.5's? There are only several visible. I have more than 35!!!! Too much data/library/movies/tv shows/photos.

I have been using Apogee since 2008 so I don't really have much else to compare it to. They are very easy to use though. I've heard that some of the external DAC's disable OS X volume control totally. With Apogee I can use the volume controls on the keyboard. I have my eyes on Exasound DAC e22 but can't dish out 3500$ at the moment. That one should be amazing with my new ATC SCM50's.

Yeah, I just got a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8. I love the thing, but lost the osx volume control. That's my only gripe, wish there was a workaround.

My setup

I had to use very long cables to put the new MacPro on the cabinet behind me. Aditional SSD and HDs are inside. No problems so far and absolutely quiet solution.

I received my Mac Pro one week ago today and am slowly integrating it fully into my workflows. It is currently sitting on my messy desk in the messy, open, front parlor room of our house, which is acting as my staging ground while the new machine proves itself over time.

Once I am satisfied that all is up-to-snuff, and I muster the energy, I'll probably bring it and the noisy Drobo 5D and my even-noisier Firewire 800-based backup volume (under the desk) down to my basement equipment room which is directly below this area.

Adjacent to the equipment room is my recording room, which has all the toys. The idea is that I want to be able to get to the Mac Pro from this work area *and* the basement studio, so I will probably run multiple connections to the unit and find a way to either A/B between the KVM endpoints or rely upon the fact that the Mac Pro can just pump content to up to three screens at each location. I'd like to avoid a super-expensive solution if possible. Heck, it might be as simple as unplugging one setup and plugging in the other. Time will tell.

Love it, love it, love it

I have no other words.
