You probably wouldn't. I came across a description of "snow blindness" which is essentially sunburn of the eyes and the symptoms of snow blindness are remarkably like the effects I experienced on my ex-X and on my current Pixel 2 display. I can tolerate it on my Pixel 2 because an 8 Plus is still the phone I use the most. But I am on the lookout for news on OLED display improvements. I don't suffer as much on a Samsung S8+ display, even though Samsung is the manufacturer of all these displays.

Regarding other remarks that the X feels too much like a beta product, on the contrary, I felt it was a very polished product. My iPhone 6 Plus felt a bit beta and all of the subsequent updates to it were much appreciated as soon as I could afford to upgrade to each one. The 8 Plus therefore feels very refined to me. But I felt like the X could serve me well for two years or more if I could have tolerated the display better. There wasn't much about it I wanted to see changed except perhaps to refine the camera bump a bit so the red eye and dust infiltration would be less of a problem. It also sticks too far out that a case seems like an absolute necessity to me. But when I had it, it worked as I'd hoped it would.

I do think it's very expensive to purchase and repair/insure. It wasn't as appealing a value to me as an 8 Plus, even ignoring the issues I had with the display.

I’ve had dry eyes for most of my life. One reason I can only tolerste contacts for about 4 hours a pop. Way before the introduction to even the pda

Ultimately it will be interesting to see if people who didn't purchase the X last year will buy the 2018 version that has the exact same things they didn't like about the original.

Exactly that - I remember the original iPhone like it was yesterday. So many nay sayers, so many funny people who a year or two later all went for an iPhone.

It is inevitable; Face ID is here to stay, now there is proper OLED screens they are here to stay, and yes the notch will evolve in my expectation and disappear at some point. I think it is quite cute and to me not a dealbreaker either way.

Hear, hear.

And I was one of the biggest iPhone X haters upon seeing the keynote back in September. Started many threads about my hate for all the features I didn't have in my beloved iPhone 6. Decided to preorder one just to give it a try, the plan was to use it for 10 days and return it to Apple along with a piece of my mind about how they were going astray.

All it took was 2 days with the iPhone X to see how wrong I was. Everything I hated about the product at the keynote I now loved. Face ID (faster than Touch ID), Wireless Charging (amazing convenience), No Home Button (gestures are so much better), No Headphone Jack (Bluetooth sets you free), Glass Construction (case makes it a non-issue), Additional Height (lock screen looks amazing, more vertical content in Safari and email), and Additional Weight (the battery life is 2x to 3x what I was getting previously) all turned out to be all the things that made the X so great.

So that's why I didn't buy the X and then wound up buying 4 of them. Because you need to own one for a few days to get it and to understand why it's so revolutionary. It's far more convenient and the battery lasts forever.

I haven’t bought every iPhone as I’m sensible with money.... though buying a new iPhone every year and selling your old one probably works out better. And I did own an X for a week give or take a day. I just didn’t like the notch. I upgraded from an iPhone 6 but didn’t feel the successors were worthy of me putting extra money down. I think maybe I buy a new one every 3 or 4 years.

For me it’s entirely the notch. I like to think that someone got my old X as a refurb and that it now lives a joyful life with someone that can look past the notch.

1) Don't like the fact that you lose the option of choice.

2) Not a fan of the Apple Ibrow.
Apple iBrow. Love it! Gonna use that from now on.... thanks!

How exactly do you loose the option of choice? Surely you choose to buy or not ;)

You're comprehension is flawed.

The thread topic was why you didn't buy the Iphone X. I answered why I didn't.

You lose the option to choose between which technologies you want to use to unlock your phone. If there was an option then all this nonsense bickering about which is better would be moot.

People are subjective. Some are never going to be happy with Face ID and the Apple Ibrow and some are never going to be happy with Touch ID. Both are good technology's and Apple users should be pissed off that they can't have both options on the phone to choose from. My opinion.

Nothing flawed with my comprehension, a lot was left to be desired in your original statement regarding choice.

Price for the X was downright dumb. Especially for a device that was going to slow down in a year.. oh wait they’re going to end that scheme with iOS 11.3 :D

I'm reading a lot about how iPhone X sales are not as analysts expected and have watched many a scathing YouTube video. I even have a lot of friends and colleagues who have opted against the iPhone X and a few who have bought it and then returned it.

I haven't bought the iPhone X because I haven't owned an iPhone since the 4S and it just doesn't do enough to pull me away from Android.

But I'm interested to know why it is that's stopped all the iPhone lovers from buying it. Why didn't you?
I wasn’t excited when I got the iPhone X was revealed because of the accurate reports of no Touch ID. This is the first iPhone I haven’t bought since the 4s (I skip that generation) and stayed with the 4.

But after seeing my friend and sister use theirs I’m warming up to the idea of Face ID. So I’m kinda looking forward to the inevitable iPhone X plus that sure to come out next year. I’ll stsrt saving for it since I usually buy the iPhone cash up front. I got an iPhone 8 Plus this year.
