how do you even sync you address book to clouds if you don't have isync icon on menubar from which you choose sync?

That's not an iSync icon in the menu bar - that's a system-wide Sync menu for MobileMe and SyncServices aware applications.

iSync has never synced with the cloud - it only syncs locally connected USB or Bluetooth non-Apple mobile phones.

are 10.6 applications supported on 10.7?
That question doesn't even make sense.

Yes, most application will continue to run just fine in 10.7. Some will need minor adjustments to work properly. Some will have code added to it to take advantage of the new features of Lion like Resume, Full screen mode, etc.

Also, cropping a PDF i preview still doesn't delete the section, only removes it from view. I don't know why they removed this from Leopard.

2 Bugs Found

Bug: I have two monitors with 2 spaces setup. When I go to Mission Control in Desktop 1 and swipe two fingers left, it goes to Desktop 2, however, there is not way to go back to Desktop 1 swiping two fingers left or right. Nothing happens.

Bug 2: Quicktime with Screen Recording a specific section. In that section, I have an mp4 file. I clicked inside the icon play. The entire system froze, except for audio which continued to play. Had to do a hard reset.

In SL, if you had an item minimized, in Expose, you could see the items under a line. In Lion, if you minimize either into the Dock or into the Application Icon, going into Mission Control, you won't see it displayed anywhere.

Until we see the next build, it's tentative beta behavior. This build is inconsistent with the use of "AirPort" and "Wi-Fi." As well as "Spaces" and "Desktops." Either Apple is rebranding AirPort to Wi-Fi and Spaces to Desktops, or it's just a bug of sorts. We'll see next build what they do.

From what I can tell, it seems they are still retaining AirPort as a brand name for the actual hardware that creates and manages a wireless network. Whereas the actual wireless network in of itself is using Wi-Fi, the industry name and something much more familiar to most people.

I'd imagine that's why Spaces is possibly being rebranded too.

for airport/wi-fi it does make sense to rebrand it to the standard name, ill agree there.

but for spaces (desktops) there really isnt any industry standard to conform to - its not like windows has something similar (i know linux does, what do they call it?). spaces seems fine imo.

Hey guys,
I'm gonna try out Lion in a few days from now, but was wondering something. I hope it's not a request but, does Versions feature work with Pages and Keynote? Or infact any other application than Textedit?

Thanks in advance,
Kris

Linux uses the term "virtual desktops." And there are add-ons that can bring something similar to Windows.

I don't know why Apple appears to be rebranding Spaces, nor do I think it's necessary. But they must feel that "Desktops" is more familiar to people than "Spaces."

But as I said, it's inconsistent. Notice how they still are using "Every Space," and yet everything else is "Desktop #." They can't seem to decide what to go with. And I also think that with Mission Control making the name of the desktop/space very prominent, there will be an option to assign custom names for each desktop/space.

They have been on a roll with naming things Air____ (AirPrint, AirPlay, AirDrop). Now they are getting rid of it?
Like I said, AirPort seems like it's just going to be used for the actual hardware now, while Wi-Fi will be used for the actual wireless network. One of Apple's apparent goals is to make the Mac as user-friendly as possible, and for potential "switchers" form other platforms, "Wi-Fi" is a much more familiar and meaningful term to them for a wireless network.

the fact that apple previewed it (somewhere) using Word indicates to me that it will work with basically any document.

Also, if this is to take ideas from iOS, there is no "airport" feature, it is called "Wi-Fi" there. Smart move for apple if they are trying to appeal to current iOS users. Makes transition easier.

Where? Unless they've worked with MS MBU it seems unlikely that there would be a version of Word that supports this.

Agreed. Word does not (currently) work with versions. Textedit does for sure, haven't tried pages. But I doubt that one too. It probably only works with NATIVE lion apps. If you want to try to see if something works with versions, just hit command+s. Either you will just save the document (meaning it does not work with versions), or create a new version of it.
