anyone notice that Facbook Chat through jabber on iChat got tanked. On mine it no longer shows names just something like -845043.

Yeah, this happened to me too. I had to redownload Adium to use FB chat again. A real bummer if it isn't fixed.

Dock or Launchpad ?

why do I feel the Dock era will cease to co-exist with the launchpad ? Maybe it will be there for showing only the applications running in the background ? (A La iPhone Multitasking).

Why would the Dock go away? iOS has it, after all, and it holds your favorite programs so that you don't have to flip through several pages to find them.

somewhere warm, dark, and cozy
Address Book instant messaging field got more protocol options. Before, it was limited to AIM, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ and Jabber. Now, there is also Facebook, Gadu-Gadu, Google Talk, QQ and, finally, Skype!!!! Awesome!!

...So where's the new update?...
Today sounds right for the third seed minor update. Apple was on the biweekly schedule for the minor seed updates and today is two week from the last one.

Considering the WWDC event is coming up soon, this is likely going to affect the seed schedule and we might not see anything until then.

How is the speed of unhiding the dock on Lion?

In SL there is an annoying lag - not much, but enough to make it a minor user interface issue.

For those using a smaller machine (I have the 11" MBA) keeping the dock hidden is a great way to make the most of the real estate.

Digging the new login screen on DP3.

Although, if you enter the wrong password, the text field shifts left. If you hit “enter” rapidly and make the field shake repeatedly, it travels pretty far across the screen. :roll eyes:

Changes:

- New login window
- New login animation (similar to iOS. The screen zooms in a bit to fill the screen.)
- New wallpapers (System Preferences no longer lists most pre-Lion wallpapers, oddly enough, but you can manually add them back using the + button. They still reside in "Library/Desktop Pictures.”)
- AppStore icon is now a brighter blue to differentiate it from iTunes 10’s logo
- Small touchups to toolbar buttons for Finder, Safari, and Mail (smoother looking and less dark)
- Mission Control: Ability to add new desktops using a “+” button. Ability to close desktops directly, using a black “close" button similar to iOS.
- Mission Control now uses Expose’s old icon (they should really change this) and is a standalone app.
- The Expose pane in System Preferences is renamed to “Mission Control” (although there are still references to Expose all over it.)
- Dashboard has a button in the lower right hand corner for returning to your normal desktop (if Dashboard is set to behave as a space.)
- Safari “Reading List” feature to save cached copies of webpages for later reading. Holding “shift” and clicking normal hyperlinks on websites makes a cool animation of a Safari icon swiping across the screen, similar to that of when you add something to a download list in iOS or when installing a new app in the App Store.

This is a little confusing… Screenshot and/or video please?

Launchpad

Hi Guys, the old method to delete apps from the launchpad seems to no longer work in this new developer preview 3: anyone has a hint on how to do on this new build?
Many thanks!

You do it in exactly the same way as on any iOS device, i.e., click and hold any icon until it starts to wiggle.

Thanks for you reply, but that actually delete the app from the system...
I have expressed myself badly as I meant to REMOVE apps from the launchpad and have them still in the system.
Anyone has found a way?
I tried clicking in any way on the wiggling icons but to no avail...

As far as I know there is no easy way to accomplish this at this time.

New numbers (relating to keyboard, obviously) for when entering letters with accents. Used to have to arrow across to the desired accented letter, however now you just tap the number and the character is inserted.
