Mail?

I've seen a ton of images of Mountain Lion and have read a few of the threads here but I haven't come across anything regarding Mail. I've noticed it seems color is coming back to the OS but does anyone know if they have added color back into Mail? The nav section and the same for iTunes.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but I had this issue in Lion and it persists in this build of ML where When I click something in the dock and move my mouse or switch desktops the Dock remains up and doesn't autohide until I move my mouse cursor again. Curious if i'm the only one with this issue, i think I've seen it on Apples forums though.

I've had this problem as all since Lion.

I read and heard that Mountain Lion will go back as far as Snow Leopard. I am running Snow Leopard on my older Mac Mini (Mid 2007). ML requires 2gig memory and the mid 2007 mini was not listed on the "supports" page for ML because they only came with 1 gig memory. If I upgrade to 2 gig will/should I be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion?

Yes, they demoed in at WWDC.

It looks like the notification icon in the top right doesn't light up anymore for new notifications?

No, it's your graphics card. Computers with the GMA 950 are not supported.

A lot of more advanced Mac users are bothered by the skeumorphism Apple is introducing into a lot of their apps, but I think these people are missing the reason behind the changes. It's not to be cute, it's to create familiarity for users.

The video of Chris Prillo's dad using a Mac for the first time is really the best example of this I've seen. http://joelhousman.com/2012/03/15/chris-prillos-dad-compares-windows-8-to-os-x/

This is an older guy who has never used OS X, but he understands what the apps are because he is familiar with iOS. It looks the same, it must be the same, it is the same.

It's like Launchpad. Advanced Mac users thought Launchpad was so stupid. We use Spotlight or Quicksilver or Alfred to launch our apps. But regular users use the dock, and that's it. There was no chance they were going to navigate into the applications folder to realize there are more apps in there. Launchpad is the greatest thing for them, because it bridges the gap between the apps in the dock and the rest of the apps on their system.

John Siracusa has a great rant about this on episode #59 of his show Hypercritical http://5by5.tv/hypercritical/59

Great post.

Apple should make the video of Chris Prillo's dad into a commercial.
(though that is no longer their advertising style)

Ha wow. You're absolutely right. And that's the first bug I've experienced in DP4.

Launchpad is back to the spread out, slightly larger icon, view.

Notification Center has a new icon (already mentioned) as well as Airplay/Display settings.

Lots of Small Changes

I made a gallery of what I could find.

I tried to stay away from what is already on the website or was shown in the Keynote. It might not all be new in the newest Developer Preview, but those are definitely all changes in Mountain Lion.

The latest preview seems very smooth and polished, many changes indicate that, too (for example all the many changed symbols).

Edit: I have to correct myself. Speakable Items (OS X’s old speech recognition functionality which allowed you not to dictate, but to use the computer) was not removed in favor of Dictation, it was just moved. You can now find it in the Accessibility pane.

Wirelessly posted

Thank you for sharing all those little things in such an elegant way! I'm so eager to install ML when it's released.

Thanks. I count 15 new wallpapers.

I really like this one:
