That post is from May, back when we were on DP3, so it likely has changed in DP4. Anyone running it on a portable to confirm?

This is what it's like in DP4 with the latest update:

Why would there be no underlying desktop? While you can have lots of desktops, their icon contents will be the same on each one. It would make complete sense for me to want to drag an image from Safari in full screen onto the desktop, but it's impossible because you can't show the desktop while in full screen.

The problems with full screen in Lion are:

  • Can't show desktop
  • Can't show dock with Wacom Tablet (because of absolute positionning)
  • Quitting and reopening an app will always bring it out of full screen mode
  • Full screen apps create more desktops, so if you already have loads, swiping from desktop 1 to desktop 5 is a huge pain with 3 full screen apps and 5 desktops in between
  • Slow animation that brings the app in and out of full screen
  • Activating Mission Control while in a full screen app will show Desktop 1 - why? I completely lose track of where the hell I am
  • Putting something in full screen places it on the far right if you don't check "Automatically Rearrange Desktops"

… so I never use Full Screen, I really hope ML addresses most of these...

I think there is a simple solution to Full Screen Apps' problems. Don't make them a new Desktop. Let them simply remain on the same Desktop they were created in. If you alt tab or go to another app thru the dock, the window simply disappears.

hello there,

does anyone have some experience with an samsung 830 SSD and ML.

is it compatible?

Wrong thread. This is a discovery thread for new features not a thread for support.

That being said Apple OEMs the 830 SSD so there shouldn't be any compatibility problems.

Not sure like if its been said, or if it's even relevant...

But on Apples What's New page the Safari icon is different.

From what I've seen from images, ^ that image isn't used yet on ML previews. But it's on their site.... Hmmm?

They always use high-contrast images on their website to make it more appealing to the user.

Strange, I'd think apple were happy with their icons as they were. If they wanted it to seem more appealing, they'd use that icon (by that icon i mean the one they deem good) in their OS.

10.8 12a256

One change since 12A256. Open iPhoto, the color temperature changes to (I guess) 9300K. In short, it becomes cooler. Open VLC, the same happens. I say, this is a welcome change! Or not?

Have they changed the way the Archive button works in the Mail app in Mountain Lion?

When the Archive button was introduced in Lion, clicking it would send messages to a subfolder it created in the IMAP directory called /Archive. This was a little annoying if you used it with Gmail, since archiving in Gmail should send it to the "All Mail" folder, not a new one called /Archive.

On iOS devices, it has work the way you'd expect for a long time, knowing if you use gmail to send it to the "All Mail" folder and not create a new subfolder.

Thanks!

I think this is new...

This is the second time you've said the Safari icon has been contrast adjusted, when in fact it isn't. Some of the icons used on Apple's website may be contrast adjusted but some have been completely remade for that page or may be implemented in OS X in the future or maybe not. Here is a GIF i made so yourself and others can see the difference between the Safari icon.

Can you spot the differences?

We actually talked about this several pages ago. Apple uses different icons on the website, but they almost never make it into the actual applications.
